And, since BJ will be off the table, why visit PTY when there are so many other decent options in the same area? I typically visit PTY 5-6 times a year. Unfortunately that just came to an end. On the bright side, it'll give me more time to dig around San Jose, Managua, Medellin & Cali.

On another topic, I was told today by a friend who now works at the Veneto that they had some issues with the government. Apparently not paying taxes. Seems the (a?) prior manager is in jail on money laundering charges & the governement now owns both the hotel & casino. He's rather pissed because they deduct health insurance from his check but he doesn't get any. Something about paying back the money stolen from the gov't taxes.

On another subject. Habanos was packed last night around 9:45. All shapes & sizes, many excellent, some not so much.

Doing it again this year in Nov on my way to CTG for a vacation with the novia from MDE. So I guess the Veneto is still in business. And the chica fee is approx $25 ? Correct? Looking for a nice hotel Marriott style type hotel really close walking distance to the Veneto. The rooms are super shitty there. Any recomendations. ? Otherwise will just stick to Veneto. Taxi rate- what is the rate for airport pick up and drop off from Veneto area to airport? Any help would be gladly appreciated. Will repost trip report with pics as always after my trip. One question, are they taking out the 5% on all chip transactions at the casino cage.

Meaning if I buy $1000 worth of chips at the table. Play one hand for $100 and push (tie). Get up and go the cage to cash out they will take $50 just to give me back cash for the chips even though I was only there 2 minutes and did not win or lose anything?

Or do they somehow have a way of tracking your winnings and are only taxing the winnings. (similar to what the sports book does).

I stayed at Hyatt Place which is closer to Habanos and I recommend it. It's about a ten minute walk to Veneto. Chica fee at Hyatt Place is only $15. Taxis will try to charge $30 to / from downtown to airport. But you can often find taxis upstairs at airport for $15 or $20 to downtown. From downtown you can probably arrange a taxi for $22 or $23 to airport.

Thanks![/QUOTE]Someone else already mentioned Colon and the northern areas but from what I hear Colon is not nearly as safe as Panama City, and areas like Bocas del Toro are full of hippie backpackers and tourists -- not really a mongering spot.

Let us know what you find though. I got back from Puerto Rico on a non-mongering trip and the black Puerto Rico ladies drove me nuts. They especially have a bit of an obesity problem in PR so some of these girls looked really unique compared to other parts in the Caribbean. I'd love to find the equivalent in PC.

It has a heroin problem and there are street rats everywhere. They will say things like, 'if you won't buy my dope, I have cop friends who will plant it on you and shake you down.' A lot of drug tourism there.

But like others write, one doesn't find many panamanian pros in the typical spots. If you got game, go walk around Albrook Mall or Multiplaza some weekend and you'll find all the non-pros you can handle. Even better, Avenida Central.

Anyone knows if this hotel is chica friendly? Also how far is it from Habanos?

I'll in Panama for 24 hours from tomorrow lunchtime. I've RTFF and I don't see any reports or recommendations on anything in the Casco Viejo area? Have I picked the wrong part of town to get lucky. And should I cab it to Veneto and Habanos. Or are there any secret gems in Casco Viejo?
