They make a few phone calls. In between they asked me if I am okay, to which I said no. I tried to call the bar's listed phone number on internet but the calls go unanswered. After a few minutes, the ladyboy refuses the refund because "the fee has gone to the shop already".[/QUOTE]Advice / my point of view: Was she a post-op? From your story alone you had no idea. LB usually don't lie about themselves. However, a post-op may no longer consider her to be a lb. So she answers 'no'. From the bar or other perspective: some punters may prefer lb as their choice at particular time and don't want to find a lady is a post-op. Consider the money spent as a small token. You can't get the bar fine back.

So I just told them I will report this and headed back to my hotel room to sleep.

I still do not know if I should go back because I have heard ladyboys can get real aggressive. I do want this to be called out to the bar management if case they are not aware this happened. How should I go about this? I guess I will never see that 1000 THB again and I can make my peace with that. I do not think I can post a Google Maps review because I have heard Thai defamation laws might complicate things for me.

I would appreciate empathy and advice rather than insults or insinuations.[/QUOTE]1) Tip the hotel staff who saved you from what could have become a much worse experience in the room, with an aggressive dude swinging a dick bigger than yours in your room. It's not the staffs job to do that, and most would probably not care.

2) If it's not a known ladyboy bar (no idea, I don't know Pattaya), I'd stop by the bar if I was in area anyway and ask for my money back. Be prepared, ask politely, and do not lose your temper or start arguing. Exit once you see you are not getting anywhere, rather than make a scene and get clubbed over the head with a bottle from behind. Remain calm at all times. Easier if you go in with the expectations of not getting anything back, and are just on your way to another bar to barfine a real girl.

1000 BHT is too little to fight for and treat this as a bad experience and a life saving one. I had a similar scene in another country once, LB got really aggressive and I ended up with a torn shirt in the hotel lobby, it was a routine act for other hotel guests. I gave a nice tip and a positive review online to the male receptionist who helped me and saved me from her clutches. This could have flared and gotten very ugly in the room. So just have a drink forget it and move on, consider yourself lucky!

I'm planning to go to Pattaya in late September. Last time I was there I stayed close to Walking Street but this time I am planning to stay close to Soi 6.

I found a great buffet in Beach Road but I'the like to know if there are any buffet / americab breakfast places near Soi 6.

If so, perhaps they were well within their rights to answer "no". I do wonder why they did not point that out during the discussion with hotel staff. Perhaps too ashamed / anxious? They were quite shy right from the start.

The ladyboy I barfined did not seem aggressive by any means but I do not even want to think about what could have happened in the room.

Repeating what I said long ago, prohibiting a specific race is quite fucked up. The often cited "3 Indians sipping one beer for two hours" is easily solved by an entry fee per person that can be adjusted against actuals.

You heard it right. Between a bloody coupon system and racism, the coupon system achieves the same / better outcome. And yet racism is the popular choice!

Side note, my overall Pattaya experience has been nice. The specific incidents I talk about on this forum construe a very unfair and negative picture of Pattaya. Maybe I will write a full report soon.

That said, it's almost never about the "3 Indians 1 beer problem", and not about deodorant or trousers either. It comes down to how a certain demographics of long-standing customers is unhappy with your presence.

If you spent any time on Thailand expat forums, you've probably noticed how many crusty old Farang intensely hate Indians. They're not even hiding it. Now, the Pattaya mongers are basically the worse end of that racist demographics.

They want to exclude you, and the bars are obliging in order to keep them as customers. It's similar to how certain venues (like Soi Thaniya in Bangkok) are Japanese only. Japanese punters don't like the barbarian Farang messing with "their" girls and spaces.

The main difference is that Japanese (and East Asians in general) are comfortable with open racism. Farang are not, so they come up with various thinly veiled excuses like trousers or clean shoes, and would certainly probably welcome you if you said you were from the UK to maintain the pretense.

Personally, I'd go to places that accept me (fortunately there are plenty), and not even try to give money to those who act disrespectful towards my group, even if they made an exception and allowed me to be their customer.

Not sure of the cost but years back, group of guys from Softball use to visit regularly. Also recently guys at Iris Rover mentioned the Holiday Inn great buffet.

I don't know how much it is now. And according to their website the restaurant where they serve it, is closed for maintenance at the moment.

It may be priced at 350 or even 400 now. But it is available for outsiders. So are the swimming pools (400 baht).

Awesome but I do notice the women who work the strip now are nowhere close to as hot as they were back in the days. Don't get me wrong they still got gorgeous women in that country. They just don't look like how they looked 20 years ago. Now I know I just got played when I went to Phuket it's all good still had a great time there.

I have found posts on this board from 20 years ago claiming that women then were not as hot as women 20 years earlier.
