Admirable custom, in any event. As a fallback, you can just invite people over early, or the night before, and wake up and start drinking. That's what I do.

So, it was my last day in Colombia. Based on reports here I decided to visit this place Juan Pablo Zhivago. Turned out it was really close to my apartment. It is on a quiet street and there is no sign, but there was a man standing outside who invited me in.
It was about 9 pm on Thursday. I sat at the counter and ordered a beer (30 mil). As it was said here, there is no pressure in this bar. All the girls presented themselves but left me alone after that.
There were about 12 chicas in the bar. Couple of them are really hot. Another 3 or 4 good looking. The others are average, but still no fatties or uglies.
I drunk my beer for 10 minutes and then invited one of the hot ones to join me. She was sitting alone, so I decided that she must be new here (maybe one of those students that just sell their bodies occasionally to pay the bills).
Her name is Sara, she has a petite body and nice be (or maybe even C) size boobs (all natural), roundish face, and that innocent look that immediately turns me on.
Anyway, I bought her a glass of Bailey's (35 mil) and we chatted for about 15 minutes. The girl is 20 years old. And she was indeed new in Zhivago, but worked in other places before. So, not so innocent after all. Claimed that she speaks English and studying German, but I haven't checked.
Finally, we talked business. She wanted 400 mil for a short time. I probably should've bargained, but I agreed on that price. Exit fee is 180 mil.
Back to my place. Girl's body didn't disappoint me, when she took off her dress. She also had one of the best looking pussies that I ever saw. Only CBJ unfortunately, but other than that the sex was great: passionate with a lot of kissing and moaning.
Massage shops.
Earlier that day I checked out massage places in Av. Carrera 15 #104-03. Visited out 5 shops. They quoted me 70-100 mil pesos for "servicio completo". All the girls were below average, and they expected me to fuck them in those tiny rooms on a massage table. I declined. Life should be better than this.
Anyway, I decided that Colombia is not really good for short trips (if you are looking for women of course). Organized prostitution means ugly girls or expensive (or both). And what the fuck with covered blowjobs everywhere?
Freelancers could be a good option, but requires a lot of time and some luck. Although I met one girl in Cali through Badoo. She provided a superb service for 100 mil. And she did a really good BBBJ. Unfortunately refused CIM, but I probably could've convinced her the next time. Too bad, I left the city before I could repeat.
Normal girls are really not easy and flacky. Especially when they find out, that you are there for just a short time.

After reading that last couple of reports, I am amazed at the insane prices some of you are paying. Whenever I go to Bogota, I never stray out of the Santa Fe area. There is action day and night and I never paid more than 70 k for a chica. A bit seedy sure, but the best bang for the money and you can find some real diamonds in the rough there.

It is a lot safer to get am apartment in Chapinero and call in escorts though more than twice the cost or pickup from recommendation bars like Zhivago and Lalos which are located in Chapinaro and no need to walk around to find them if a taxi is caught though more than 4 times more expensive. I am just explaining as why some may prefer to visit expensive bars or call expensive escorts as they may prefer safety to cost and I am one of them.
Well my first time in Colombia, I landed a super cool hotel B3 vierry. As many girls as you want day time. I even have the bar tender to call them. I have a friend she comes does my laundry speaks perfect English. She has never been asked or stopped for ID. It's a small hotel but is modern and super relaxed. Worth a look. And if you need help getting around if your a newbie like me I'll give you my friends details, she can help you with anything. Just take her for food and fun, she is a big advantage to a gringo that speaks poco Spanish.
Thinking of coming to Colombia soon for the first time. Have been looking at some videos online taken walking around the RLD of Bogota and Medellin. From what I can tell the RLD in Bogota is downtown, is that right? What I was wondering is, are these areas safe to walk around during the day for a gringo, albeit a dark haired and Spanish speaking one such as me. I don't see any gringo's on the streets on those videos. What about the places the girls are hanging out in front of, are they clean and safe for some daytime action? I still have to do most of my research, and I am sure there are loads of clubs which are safer / better etc, but just looking at these videos I have already seen a few women who are just my type, dark hair, pretty, busty and curvy, skinny barbie girls are not my type at all! Any advice would be appreciated.

Safe meaning you still have to be aware of pickpockets and scam artists, but you're unlikely to face a knife or gun. You still have to keep your wits about you, but you should be fine.
Most of the places girls are hanging out in front of aren't clubs. Some are short time hotels, some are just buildings where several girls share a cheap apartment. Cleanliness will vary, but you're not going to find any upscale accommodations.
There are 3 different zones where you should be looking. There are a couple of other zones, but aren't a good idea for tourists. Those zones are Santa Fe, Chapinero and Zona Norte.
Santa Fe is the bottom end of the options. On the plus side, it's possible to get a quickie for $10 USD, even less if you're not at all picky. There are also more options in the area than anywhere else in Bogota. There are some decent options, La Piscina, El Castillo, Atunes and several others, although the big clubs will cost much more. Still, by US standards they are a bargain. You won't find any fresh faced university girls and you definitely should check ID for any young girl off the street.
Chapinero is a step up, still a bargain price, but the average girl is better looking and the accommodations are better. Expect to spend $25 to $50 USD, for a younger, better looking girl in a nicer, cleaner room. There are plenty of Casas, clubs and massage places in the area and most of the area is reasonably safe day or night.
Zona Norte is where you'll find the top shelf girls, at top shelf prices. You can expect to pay at least $100 in the top clubs in the area, with door fee, room fee and chica fee, and your total could easily reach $200. There are other options in the area, such as the massage parlors where you can pay a much lower price.
Zona Norte has plenty of nice restaurants and upscale bars, a good place to hang out when you're not addressing the more basic needs. Chapinero also has lots of dining options and shopping options. Santa Fe is convenient to the old town museums and photo ops.

Don't wear anything flashy, jewelry etc. This goes will all parts of Colombia. There are sufficient reports for everyone to make their own decision.
How do you know what is safer if you have never been there before?

But even without any reports usually the red light district in any country even safest ones like Holland is generally unsafe. It is not hard to conclude that sitting in a classy protected hotel with security guards around and calling in escorts is safer than walking around red light district looking for street sex workers in a generally known as unsafe country as per travel advisories provided.
Kathy came to hotel, no problem about ID or ask for extra money. She spoke no English and was very shy. Body was nothing like photos she has had a kid and tits like my dogs ears. So I help undress her she gave a decent BBBJ. Pussy was tight but she smelled dirty. Can't understand why some girls just can't jump in shower first, if I could smell it I'm sure she could. I told her she looked different from her photo, she asked to see and yes a very nice old photo. I never had condom so I just said blow job is cool. I dragged her in shower she wanted to fuck without condom, that put me off so I got dryad and never came. Gave her candy buffalo wings and water when she left. Not so much of a thank you. Cute girl but you can tell she doesn't want to be there. I will upload agency photos of girls later.
Hi Scot,
Just curious as they appear to be so many beauties working as escorts in Bogota then why calling the one whose tits was like your dogs? Why you didn't call one of those ones in solitasparati or this one (http://www.prepagosbogota69.com/daniela.html) or this one (http://escortsbogota.co/portfolio/leidy/) or this one (http://lacelestina.co/escorts-prepagos-modelos-bogota-gina)? Are they also all fake or highly photo shopped? I don't know I have no experience with escorts in Bogota or elsewhere so as why I am curious to know.
You can live it or read about it. Up to you.
This is the best answer I have ever read to answer the endless discussions about safety. I have visited 80 different countries including each from the top 10 most dangerous countries of the world. I have fucked probably 500 different girls, including the unavoidable AO, I practized most of existing extreme sports, took risks in my professional life. Regarding Colombia, druing the last 2 years, I have visited any corner of Colombia, the most remote areas, the most dangerous ares of the main cities, luckely, never ever happened to me or the people I love and live with, as I learned to protect my back. Yes, shit could have happened, but heck, what a life I had! Yes they can rob me, even kill me one day, but no one can ever take me back all the amazing experience I had in my life. .

This is especially true with red light districts.
Whenever you read reviews, first pay attention to the date of the review. For Bogota, most of the "too dangerous" reviews are 10 years old. Like any big city, there are risks to be aware of, but I will take Santa Fe over the worst areas of Chicago, a city 1/4 of the size of Bogota. That doesn't mean I would drink 10 shots of tequila and go stumbling around at 3 am, but I have no issues with walking through and checking things out.
The other thing to look for in reviews is attitude. Is the reviewer angry about something else and trashing everything?
Moralizing is another problem. Someone accidentally walks through Santa Fe and starts seeing the obvious prostitutes in every direction, maybe spots an exposed nipple, and hops online to preach. Of course, just seeing a bunch of women in scanty (especially by Bogota daytime standards) clothing, doesn't seem bad enough, so the street gets populated with heroin addicts, shooting up and knife wielding gangsters [CodeWord125] and pillaging. Somehow the reviewer manages to escape with his life without contracting a horrible disease and feels the need to warn the world.
If you're aware and alert, there is no reason to avoid Santa Fe during the daytime, or in the evening if you stick to the main streets, use taxis and use some common sense.
