Try Travel hotel and other similar places in the early afternoon. You will not regret.
Since I wasn't sure if Travel Hotel is a location or a Website for booking accomodation, I used the search function and now I know more. Will give Travel Hotel a try. Thanks for the Tip.

Prices
Hi Friends, have been away from Jakarta, rather Indonesia for over a month for my long pending visit back home after more than 4 years Am gonna be back to Jakarta by end of next week. And suddenly realized that Jakarta is indeed my home. Never missed my native country when I was in Jakarta, the way am missing Jakarta out here.
Normally after Lebaran the price in places like 6th floor, Classic Hotel, Travel Hotel etc goes up with new additions happening to the stable, in terms of new girls. How is the scene? Have the prices gone up? Is the quality of the new girls better, especially at Maribaya? Would appreciate any info. Because the moment I hit Jakarta, I would like to get back into action.
Cheers

Back to Normal
Kartika was open this afternoon and had a full house of ladies. Aris, the sweet, smiley woman who gave me a massage said all of the places reopened on Wednesday.
Aris was small and cherubic, 26, with soft skin, a quick smile and long, straight black hair. She really enjoyed AR and Armpit Rimming. Armpit rimming. Indonesia raya.
Prices are still Rp. 310,000 per session, with things like condoms and coca-cola's an extra charge. There were maybe four customers and me this sore: three Javanese and one Chinese-Indonesian, who were also friendly.
I forgot how close Kartika (and Stadium and Jl. Mangga Besar) are to the Mangga Dua or Olimo Transjakarta Busway stops.

Jakarta
hi guys
i just want to make a quick initial report so fellow travellers thinking about coming here know the facts.
be careful at the airports i was told by a local that many taxi company have rigged meters.. so i waited in the long queue for a bluebird taxi. i paid for the toll on the way. but when we reached the hotel he added another 11k which looked like a toll charge. it was late and not much in total so i paid without fuss.
weather at the moment is not great it raining heavily and frequently. i'm staying near jl menga besar in a toop recommended hotel in the hotels section. hotel is ok but dated and bathroom full of ants.
the area is a real dump..,huge rats regularly on the sidewalks, homeless people sleeping on the streets, begging children around the 'few' clubs, lack of decent eats, rubbish dumped on the streets everywhere with stray ill looking cats eating from, and smell of sewer throughout, lots of pollution and traffic, often have to walk on the traffic filled streets because the sidewalks are underdeveloped or full of garbage or mud etc..
i went to 1 club last night i walked past called 'millies', the place was empty and lights off so you could bearly see infront of you.. looked like a mafia haunt so i left speedily. i then walked to travel hotel, realised my jeans were covered in mud when i got there. went in to the massage section saw a selection of girls best was no more than a 6/6.5.. was about to leave when i came across one who was passable. when she stripped she had a hideous mole on her back eughhh!! if this is the best that jak has to offer, it really isn't worth the cost of the flight and your precious annual leave when you do the sums.
on my way back was looking for stadium club on menga besar but didn't see it maybe it was closed. there was a small shop like place with 'stadium' sign and 'basketball' which was closed but it didn't look like a club.. is that what stadium nightclub looks like?
compared to other mongering destinations (or holiday destinations in general) i have to say first impressions of this place are very poor. shopping seems overpriced considering the economy, as does food. looked for some shoes, wallets etc and seem to be much more expensive than thailand. you can actually find cheaper in the uk.
if any of expats or locals read this i'd appreciate if you could recommend cheap places to shop, good quality reasonably priced restaurants, and nice places to hangout.. please.. please.. please forever will be in your debt...
i had arranged to meet a girl here and spent some time with her today. took her to a donut and coffee place, damage 70k about $10 / £7. then later she chose a shabby looking restaurant (most are) for a traditional supper. after looking at the non refrigerated food on display in the hot restaurant and flies, i decided i would just risk a little chicken curry with the rice after great persuasion by the girl. the girl proceeded to order about 7 dishes. damage 125k...expensive for what we got and the type of restaurant. to her credit she did offer to pay.. but she wasn't my type and not quite the picture on the net so i let her go home after i waited for her to fin. her food...long wait.
also i find indonesian people a little bit less open/friendly than malaysians. i may take a flight to malaysia if things don't improve much here.
i will explore south jakarta tmrw, and maybe look for another club tonight, hopefully that will be better. will report back if there's anything worth reporting.
nb if there any guys fancy hanging out, could show me what i'm missing, would be great to hear from you. after visiting many destinations all around the world, this is the first that i've written so negative, hope to be able to report back something positive.

No disrespect intended but you might need a guide to help figure things out. Why not contact JAD, pm if you need his contacts or go to the classified ad thread for his contact information.
Also, you should try some of the 'nicer, high end' places like alexis, maliboro, etc....do a quick read of this thread for addresses, prices, etc.
I'm arriving in about 2 wks and looking forward to my visit ;)

Everything you write is true, but it's all part of what makes the place great ;-) If it really doesn't suit you, give Jakarta a miss, it's rotten to the core. But the rot is fertile and surprising. Don't worry about the unrefrigerated food in the local restaurants, it's much fresher than refrigerated food ... some of the stuff you buy in supermarkets can be months old because it's being refrigerated ;-) Read the forum properly, Stadium is dead easy to find.

I think as with all other destinations you just need some time to adjust. And then the pollution, nois, dirt & heat in Jakarta is not very helpful. I fell in love with Indonesia in general, & Jakarta especially.
About the food in the open, it is probably Nasi Padang which definitely is a health risk (and extremely spicey as well). Better stick to the Chinese restaurants which unfortunately are not too easy to find these days

I know the shop you refer to.
first of all, Stadium isn't on Manga Besar, but on Hayam Wuruk.
you should've gone back to the major intersection closest to this shop.
on your right from there would be the hotel, name of which escapes me.
on your left, and where you should go, there should be a several quick mart stores.. followed by a block or so walk down to the second alley, and Stadium will be off to the side on the alley. It''ll be right before the new remodeled building which now has a Starbucks and Burger King.
can't miss it. There will be tons of taxis parked off to the side congesting traffic by the entrance.

well kota (part of town you're staying in) does have its own innate "charm".
personally i like the raw street feel as opposed to the glitzy and stuffy mall scene of central and s. jakarta.
not much of a shopper, but you can check out the small mall at lokasari plaza (right on manga besar, everyone will know where it is, just ask). there are some food joints there as well. the pizza hut by the mercure hotel (further past it) (that's the name that was escaping me in previous post) offers nice pasta dishes and a salad bar.)
you can always try the street stands, for something more adventurous.. and there are street chinese joints on manga besar, just before hayam wuruk.
for more shopping, not sure what you're shopping for, also try the huge wtc mangga dua mall, not too far away from the area.
if you like trance/progressive music, stadium is a must hangout. go there late. club is on the 4th floor. you can also check out millenium on hayam wuruk for a slightly different musical experience, but in that "vein".
also try the club at the borobodur hotel, name escapes me, but that hotel is in the general area. otherwise, all the places to go, etc are down south, which shouldn't be an issue traffic wise if you go late(r) at night. just get a bluebird.
if you want to see overpriced hos draped all over dorky middle aged business types on expense accounts, check out cj's at the melia hotel and bats at the shangri la. those are the top hotel bars last time i checked. be prepared for drink sticker shock. the scene will probably get old very fast, but it might be worth your time and entertainment value to check it out anyways. don't bother going much before 11 pm. sometimes the live bands can be quite good, especially at bats, personally i find cj's live music uber cheesy.
for a more "earthy" experience, go to the blok m bars on jalan falatehan.

London Soul
Hi
Its true what others say here, Jakarta does take some "getting used to".
Your best bet would be to shift to Blok M\Kemang. Much more English spoken, cleaner ( relative) friendly bars and clubs where most girls speak rudimentary English.
Much better for a first timer IMHO.

btw londonsoul
though the kota massage parlors, karaoke joints, etc are popular with many in this forum and that's why they bother with or like the kota area in the first place, don't feel bad if you were taken aback or if you will be taken aback if you visit them.
many of these places have real cases (rather than made up ngo "allegations") of [CodeWord908] and **** girls within and generally speaking, give me the heevie jeevies. after an initial look thru on my first visit(s) , i never set foot in them these days.
re jakarta in general, keep in mind it's never been and never will be any kind of tourist or sightseeing destination. it's an ugly, polluted and insanely gridlocked city. its only attraction is its people and its being an oasis of "fun" in an otherwise islamist and very conservative country.
check out the normal clubs on weekends. red square and triple x (or was it double x?) right across the street. there are many many more.

I'm resident in Malaysia and I find that Indonesians are much more approachable and the girls are much more ready for fun. I can only recommend that you try some more internet work and get to meet some girls, as they are truly gems and I love my trips to Jakarta. Even if I'm the typical expense report expat LOL.

Time to share some info. I am now in Jakarta after a 15 years break. New and a bad surprise, they ask now for a fee of 25 Dollars by visa on arrivel. Before it was for free if I am not wrong.
I stay now in Ambhara, but will move because the Hotel has no free internet and for that price (670000 one breakfast with Kaha Voucher) I expect that.
I spend the most of the last night in Top Gun. It was Ok, but nothing special. Saw some nice girls, but wasn't too impressed. So, I went to Bats in Shangri La Hotel. Not really better looking girls there, just a worser men to women ratio. So, I went to CJ's in Mulia Hotel. They asked for an entrance fee from above 100000 Rubiah. So, I went not in.
I didn't took a girl since my batteries were empty after 4 weeks Thailand. I think today I will go travel Hotel, or Malioboro.

Is it also a massage place?

Hotel Classic
Went to the Hotel Classic after lunch and up to the second floor. This place is commrcial sex on a commercial scale. Even though there were few customers, there were easliy 50 girls around. Mama San came over and we had a long chat (quite fancied her!) before she asked if I would like to meet a girl (270k). A few minutes later she was back with two for me to choose. One was mid twenties and very attractive, the other was a bit younger, very cute and very very attractive. No man should have to make a choice like this, but wise Mama San saw my dillema and had an answer - both of them for 400k - I could not resist this.
On the way to the room, it became clear the younger girl was new to the job and the other was teaching her. We got to the room (number 58, and this was not the highest number) and ordered drinks, which soon arrived. Then it was clothes off and into the shower. Teacher showed student how to soap me. Student learned quick and I was soon hard. This went on for some time as there was a lot for her to learn. We dried off and we all got on the bed. I asked them to do girl-on-girl; this was refused but they both enthusiatically massaged me.
Then it was on with the condom and I decided to have teacher first. While I was fucking her, student knelt next to me and massaged my balls, she was positioned so I could feel her tits and finger her wet pussy at the same time as fucking teacher. I soon felt myself starting to come, so I stopped and said I wanted to have the student. Teacher said we had to change the condom (very sensible), and student tried to do this, but she had no idea how to fit it on me so it took a while. Eventually she suceeded and lay on her back for me. Her pussy was wet, but very tight so it was not easy to get started with her, but once we got going the sex was great. With the condom delay, I had gone off the boil so it took a while for me to come, even with teacher rubbing her tits against me and massaging me between the legs.
After cleaning up they gave me a lovely 4-hand massage then back into the shower before getting dressed. I tipped them 50k each - a bit excessive, but this was the best session I ever had and it cost me less than $70 for everything.
I will be back!
