Request your recommendations based on the above points.
I stayed at the Mac Boutique, its on the street parallel to the ambassador and there's an alley that leads direct from the hotel and lets out by an australian bar (look at google maps streetview). The rooms are large and if you luck out they do offer cheap pricing if the hotel isn't overly booked. The street that the Mac is on isn't well lit at night but I would always walk down the the lit street that the ambassador was on and use the alleyway. I payed 900 baht per night, well worth the price and it came with free breakfast. I wouldn't pay over 1200 baht for the place though.
Does anyone know if the Star Inn on Sukhumvit Soi 7/1 is closed permanently or just temporarily for remodeling?
Will be staying at Seasons Boutique Hotel.
It's 300 meters from Soi Cowboy and 850 meters from Nana Plaza.
Read in online forums that this is girl-friendly.
I personally like Ruamchitt Plaza, next to Sofitel. Their refurbished rooms are OK, (neat and clean). It's not the Hyatt but you can't beat the price and location. (I. E. If you have a small budget).
There are too many families staying in Ambassador.
Thanks for the recommendation of Ruamchitt Plaza. I was impressed with the location, clean rooms for the price but the basement of the hotel with Thermae bar made me not go for it. It is definitely a good choice for those who don't bother about walking past the freelancers when entering / leaving the hotel.
Watch out for the prices at Agoda, they are not including local taxes, which means the actual price you pay could be 17% higher than quoted.
Thanks for the warning. Yes, the price was indeed much higher than what was quoted in the initial pages. So, it looks like I have to increase my budget now.

You can just come downstairs and pick any girly you want from thermae.
Please do post reviews about stay.
Next time I come alone, I will definitely book this one.
Will be visiting Bangkok for the first time, with my girlfriend in Dec. 2014. Request the senior members to please suggest a hotel which is guest friendly, safe, around 1000 to 1200 baht, around the Nana Plaza area.
How about these two places Citrus Sukhumvit 13 and ibis Bangkok Nana?

How about these two places Citrus Sukhumvit 13 and ibis Bangkok Nana?
Well both of those places are near Nana Plaza and are guest friendly so you answered your own question. I stayed at an Ibis in Sathorn and it was ok. The showers were only big enough for one person though. And it was barely enough room for me to move.
I am currently staying at the Royal Ivory on Soi /4 just down the street from NEP. They are guest friendly, and even have massage girls onsite that they can send to your room if you like.
Try Maxxinn on soi 7/1 I beleive.
Try Maxxinn on soi 7/1 I beleive.
It is not Maxinn, it is Maxin's Inn. http://www.maximinn.com/.

Windsor, old and need of some upkeep. My daughter used to work there and wouldn't let me stay there. 2. Ambassador, can get really loud from street noise and on site disco. Most of the hotels on Soi 11 can get loud if you are in a front room 3. Citrus no comment. The tax add on that Agoda uses is not uncommon, lots of booking sites and hotels display prices in the same manner, just check the room rate before you book. Right now I am looking at the Majestic Suites Hotel on Suk. At Soi 4. Never stayed there but getting really good reviews. May be just a touch over your budget though.

They aren't very big and the corridors are narrow as well. Also, something which I didn't like was a constant industrial / disinfectant smell all through the hotel and even in your room. But for the price I guess it works. Next time though I would spend 200 THB more and go back to my preferred hotel on soi 7.
