So they have been sending undercover cops into a few bars, waiting to see if girls are barfined (as this is technically illegal in Cambodia as barfining is seen as proof of procuring girls for sex in the bars, which is illegal) and then pouncing on the owners for a payoff. The owner of Golden Vine had to pay a $500 fine a few days ago as a result of this covert surveillance.

Most of you will have noticed that when bar staff are talking about barfines, they refer to "CK", which is their term for a barfine, to avoid actually saying 'bar fine' and risking getting nicked by the cops. As far as I know, CK is short for 'carnal knowledge'!

So for the next couple of weeks, some bars are using imaginative ways of getting round this problem. Having to buy a minimum number of lady drinks is one way, or having to buy the intended girl a $10 'cocktail' before she can leave with you. At least one bar has temporarily dropped bar fines altogether. But the girls explain to you that when you take them out, they subsequently have to pay the bar part of what you give them. So in effect they are paying the barfine on your behalf.

You will be attempted to be scammed at the land crossing, but the airport people are told not to scammed the tourist. If you had one page TOTALLY empty, then you were legit. Maybe you had one small stamp on that last page; then it would be a scammable situation.

Up about noon. We headed over to a corner food court near the Flamingo Hotel. I forgot to get the name. Ice coffee and a simple lunch. $2. 90 (USD). The server shorted me $2 on my change.
