I saw guys are making bad advertising to appartaments, and I am sure that guy works in a hotel - well, they might not have (not all of them), safe deposit boxes, but why do you need one? Are you making very illegal bussiness and you keep your money cash.

As for the rest they are very safe, nobody is coming in or out as long as you are there! All are in central places in BUcharest, places without street thiefs and since almost all of you call for an escort at least one time while visiting Romania , you should know that nice girls comes only to appartaments during night time, the girls which visit you in a hotel, are those ones which suck from all the stuff and mafia around.

I was in Bucharest about two years ago. Noticed in regular dance clubs how there would be so many hot women dancing alone. Asked my Romanian colleagues and they pointed out a guy or two keeping an eye on the dancing girls all around. They told me that in the typical dance clubs or discotheques, you will find many girls offering services. If you approach a girl and start dancing with them, the guy will come over and ask if you are interested, and if not, to move on.

For sure it is not true that you get half off by staying in an apartment! (I wish!) You're might be getting say 20 euro off if you're lucky. But I wanted to comment because apartments in Bucharest are not significantly cheaper than the hotels. I thought so, but be prepared to pay some especially if you want a decent place near the center. But the best part is less pain from the hotel staff and, like you said: a better selection.

I have just returned from Bucharest. Stayed at the Best Western Parc Hotel near the Crowne Plaza. Location is a bit off the track, but I was there for an exhibition in the Expo Center nearby. Hotel did not have too strict a policy regarding visitors but when the security guard said the word, the visitor had to go through the humiliation of the registration process. Bucharest is a great city and offers a wonderful selection of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.

On the nights that I visited the well documented bars (The Office and Planters) it was quiet. Saw some local ladies lurking in both places, but it was late and I was otherwise occupied so I did not make any advances. I must say that as a foreigner, one is easily recognised and it does generate a fair amount of stares from both genders !

Taxis are easy to find and all have meters. Most drivers speak english and all will offer you anything you need or want.

Interesting to find that most if not all ladies, speak a good english and are very accomodating you your needs and requirements.

The situation is competitive (in the male favor) so they have to be accomodating. I avoided the famous disco, so I cannot report on that situation.

If Bucharest is anything to go by, Romania is a great country and I will definitely make a point of returning.

Well I have just finished my second visit to Bucharest and I am convinced that it is just not much chop. Other places in Eastern europe are so so so much better. Firstly the place is just uber grim. Grey and grimy Bucharest must be one of the least attractive capital cities on earth.

Action on nights other than Friday and Saturday nights is limited (in total contrast to places like Moscow and Kiev). I popped into The Office and Planters on Tuesday night, but nothing was going down, so I went to DejaVu, the Moldovan / Russian speaking bar near Universitii. At least they had nice women in there, even if they all had boyfriends. Eventually cut my losses out at Disco Club, and for the third time out of three found romanian working girls to have ridiculous amounts of Attitude.
