General Information

I was now two weeks in Cebu, coming back beginning of December. Just now I read your very nice written "advice". Too late! I booked the service already and arrived in Cebu 23. Of November.

Because you write so nice for me, like a person who really wants to take care of me (you are right, I am 50+ but like a young fish, no idea from these kind of countries. It was my first time in an Asian country) I will tell you what happened there.

After pick me up at airport they bring me in a hotel named montebello. A nice hotel with garden and large pool, room nothing special but ok. I had some drinks with one of the staffmembers of the Lovequadrat agency, she introduced herself as Anita and she told me that she is my coatch for one week. We talked about everything and nothing, just to get comfortable each other. Of course we also spoke about which kind of woman I like most and what I plan for my future.

Next day Anita arranged a party with 6 beautiful girls (age 20 to 28) and 2 boys (friends of the girls, they entertained the girls, in the time when I am not having conversation with them). I was the only foreigner. After some hours joking and first contact, we went for dinner, the girl what I already had choosed sitting beside me. After dinner we went all to a disco (sunflower). A lot of fun and Tequila, an unforgetable evening. I quickly realized, with which girl I want to spend the next days. Her name was Yulen.

Also the second night I went to my room allone and next day I made a boattrip just with my favourite girl and nobody else. The rest of the week was like I was imagine the honeymoon. The second week we visited her family, and I have to confess, I was going melt when I saw her parents brothers and sisters and uncountable number of cousins. I booked a room in the next village (Bogo) the hotel had no pool but was direct on the sea. After hanging around and making some excursions (rent a car was about 50 Euro a day) the week was passing so quickly. The last day they arranged a Fiesta Farewell party.

Since I am back in Europe we have contact every day and our wedding will be in Februar after finishing all the papers.

For me this 3.300 Euro was the best investment in my whole life!

There are some very cynical characters on this list, but sometimes you just have to go with your instincts and grab your slice of happiness when it presents itself.

It's worth being aware of the potential pitfalls but I have known other guys who have married more or less the first Filipina they came across and (at least so far) it has worked out very nicely. Some of us can be so cynical that we continue searching for something and never quite find it as we always find a reason that Miss Almost Perfect can be improved upon.

A suggestion for others who want to see the PI for the first time:

- Join the US Navy. (other countries or Merchant Marine services may do, but they may not be regarded as highly in the eyes of the girls).

- Wait for a port call in Manila or Subic Bay.

- Hook up with some more experienced ship mates. They will want to ditch you early, but hang with them as long as you can.

- When girl latches on to you, run for the ship. Its sanctuary. Well. Used to be anyway.

I won't to stay at the resort during day and go to city for girls at night. Money not an issue. Will this be a problem? Any suggestions?

As I said there. It is possible but you are adding in a shitload of travel time unless you travel when the roads are not busy (around 2 to 4 am LOL).

I was in Manila Tuesday and Wednesday and I hit Burgos, not too many girls in the bars, and EDSA seemed to be around half of normal.

I think one day Lone Star closes. The whole gang goes to some beach resort for their Christmas party. Now that's a party I want to get invited to! Same thing goes for Love City and the sister KTV on Ramos. Although they have their party in the bar on Ramos. I'm in AC now. Not Cebu. But you can be sure that most of the bars will be open.

Thanks Red Kilt and Wicked Roger for your input and tips. Your suggestions have put me towards the right direction as far as which area to focus on and names of hotels to consider. I'll get to Cebu on Tuesday, so if you guys are up for it, let's meet for some drinks to chat about Cebu and the game there as well as maybe go hunting together.
