After one month of searching, I have 50 girls as Friend. They are all clearly pro or semi-pro.

The city I bought these purses in was small, and there was not too much traffic between the USA and Mexico. Border patrol seemed to know that without much foot traffic, their hours / jobs were in jeopardy.
This is in marked contrast to the heavier border crossings in Juarez / El Paso and San Diego / Tijuana. The attitudes there were much different and much more strict. Come to think of it, I did not see many counterfeit goods in Juarez or Tijuana. When I say there were fake purses, I mean all the big stores had them, and the stores had thousands if not tens of thousands of them. They were illegal DVDs being sold but they were usually just sold by street vendors. It is amazing then how the law is so variably enforced.

Occasionally a girl will ask if I'm aware that she expects to be paid. My answer is always "por supuesto", of course.
Some other useful phrases, when a girl asks for more than I will pay:
"Te entiendo, pero siempre pago (whatever price I'm willing to pay her). Tal vez un otro DIA."
I understand you, but I always pay _. Perhaps another day.
It's basically a shortcut to let her know it's not my first rodeo. It also gives her a graceful way to either walk away or negotiate. Often she'll ask if I'll pay for her taxi. If she's unwilling at that time she might drop her price later depending on her needs.
It also helps to know that there are different pricing levels. That's another thing gained through experience. There are many who aren't coming out for less than 300-500 k, or more. They're the ones who are already making a good living and don't need to turn tricks. Of course just because a girl is asking for that much doesn't mean she belongs at that price.

As far as talking about payment I read a great line that another BM posted on here some time ago. When it is time to talk about money I write "siempre pago 150 k COP mas taxi. Esta bien?" So far I have only had one ask me for more and she wanted 200 k total which is essentially the same amount.

In that area of Poblado you won't find any $20 hotel rooms. However, very close to the Mansion is Hotel Poblado Plaza, which charges the same price for a room. I've stayed there and the rooms are much nicer. However, I believe they charge 100 k for each guest. So if you're planning on bringing girls to you room the Mansion has its advantages.
It's worth noting they've remodeled most of the rooms in the past 2 years, which should increase the value.
My experience from my brief stay is that the girls average better than you'll find in the casas, quite a bit better. I also have quite a few girls on Facebook who regularly post pictures from the Mansion and very few casa girls are comparable.

The Mansion isn't for everyone, but neither is Conejitas. Each has things which appeal to some and each has its drawbacks. Criticizing someone for how they choose to monger seems petty. I say if what you're doing makes you happy, then do it.
