Random Club had the metal doors pulled down. The alley bars had lights on and I can hear some people chattering, but no music. There was police in the brown uniforms on motorcycles by the entrance. They tell me not open. I was little scared and kept walking. Maybe I will try the sideliners next. I like white skin girls.

They tried to get me to stop, but I wanted to take a look at the massage places along the other street before they closed. When I came back through, I stopped and talked to them for a few minutes. The older woman said that they were told that they would open next year. I'm not sure what next year meant. At the time, I thought she meant January, but it occurs to me now that she could have meant much later than that. The fact that I'm in Thailand for a year and I might not see a single gogo bar is really pretty sad. Of course, I wouldn't be here if not for Covid, so I guess it evens out.

The one cute girl in the group gave me her Line. I might have taken her home right then, but everyone was all over me trying to get me to buy a beer for myself and for them. It was awful, so I bailed. I also didn't want to get in trouble, so I told them I would only drink water. Anyway, I left after 5 minutes. The girl messaged me later and offered 3000ST and 5000 LT. I told her that I could have a girl for half of that who would do a lot of extras and she said she wasn't one of those girls and I said good luck finding customers and that was it. Too bad, she was cute.

But for those of us who might only be here a week or two, I'm wondering if there's a way to speed up that process. A board member is taking me to see the hotel girls this weekend, so that might do the trick, but I'm sure others wonder how to best attack the problem. I was surprised by the number of cute girls in Soi 7 the first night I walked through there, but there were fewer winners the second night. I do think most average looking guys could walk in there and find some girl that fits his type, but maybe I'm too optimistic. I don't know about prices.

Random Bar does usually close and they pull down those metal doors at about 9 pm.

Tonight, all the bars on Soi 7 and all but 2-3 beer bars on Soi 4 were open. The bars on Soi 8 and Soi 11 were all open. There were so many bars open from Thermae, which has not opened yet, to down Soi 4 to the Soi 6 intersection the available girls were spread out everywhere, not concentrated as much in those Soi 7 bars as before.

I only stopped by Soi 7 at about 7 pm, quickly picked up a tight body young girl for ST and did not cruise past those and other bars again until just before 9 pm. Then I went home. But they were all open at that time too. Just passing by it appeared to me some of the better looking girls were in Hillary 2 on this night.

It really is unpredictable from one night and hour to the next right now. If anyone is interested in that option for picking up girls these days, it is best to cruise by as many of the bars on those sois as possible and not take the conditions on any one bar area as a sign for what's available on a given night. It can be dead on one soi and a party on the next.

I don't really think the sidelines game is suited to the short-term visitor. I can't stress enough how much time is required doing research. But hey it's kind of fun reading reports and looking at pictures.

In addition many of the girls don't speak English or speak very limited English. Speaking at least some Thai is an enormous help. I would imagine some of the girls would be quite uncomfortable with someone who didn't speak Thai at all. I found that some are quite thrilled when I walk into the room and start joking with them in their language. It's quite a good ice breaker.

It would have been no different in any number of regular restaurants in the area, even after 9 pm.

We should all be wary of a possible round up and arrest of everyone in such a venue for the time being. But I have not yet read or heard of customer or patron round ups and arrests in Bangkok based on alcohol consumption alone in the absence of overcrowding, congestion or, in at least one case, group dancing.

I have read and heard of customer round ups where alcohol is also mentioned; in bars and at parties, gatherings of more than 5 people. And where alcohol was not a factor at all; orgies, protest gatherings, concerts, again, groups of more than 5.

But I have not yet read or heard of customer round ups where, for example, the 5 or fewer people in a well ventilated restaurant or bar where overcrowding and congestion was not an issue at all were caught drinking alcohol in cups at the wrong hour. Yet the authorities could have been conducting such group arrests of patrons anywhere and everywhere every night for more than a year.

Anyway, I'm just saying the factor that triggers customer round ups in Bangkok so far appears to be all about overcrowded conditions for the venue and little or nothing to do with what the liquid is in our cup. Even though the reports will throw in a mention that some or all customers rounded up somewhere were drinking alcohol and the person serving the alcohol was arrested for serving alcohol, that wasn't the problem that got anyone's attention and triggered the round up.

Alcohol consumption isn't necessary to be caught in a round up. I would not be drinking alcohol yet would still be part of the round up if I entered or remained in a poorly ventilated, overcrowded room or environment whether it was a bar, a Starbucks or a movie theater. Therefore, those are the conditions I try to take note of and avoid these days.

At the most, if she asks me to "Pay bar? Meaning will I pay the barfine to take her, I will ask how much is the barfine at this bar. Or I will get the ball rolling by asking if she likes ST or LT in the cases where a barfine does not apply.

I also rarely mention that short list of things I need or want an upfront agreement for, such as DFK, BBBJ, BBFS+CIP, unless she initiates a discussion about the money by giving me a quote upfront.

I figure if she wants to get the question of "How much?" settled upfront then it is only fair for me to settle the question of "For what exactly?" upfront as well.
