Many hate Haitans because they think Haitans steal all the jobs and they think Haitans bring the country down cuz they do all the hard working jobs, whilke Dominicans hang out at the colmados dringing cerveza...Similar to what some red blooded, americans feel about Mexicans, but there is much more animosity down in the DR with the Haitans.
Its not uncommon to read in the papers about a whole Haitan neighborhoods being burned down by dominicans because of an accusation of a petty crime!
Yes like the deep south in the 1930's!
I have read about some of that in recent months. In eastern DR, near the border, there have been gang attacks on Haitians.

Not to turn the board into Race Relations 101, but Im fascinated by all the posts and am learning a lot. Thanks, guys.
And Ford, with whom I naively picked a fight with earlier... you do know your stuff.
Dominicans never cease to surprise me in their inability to see anyone other than a white person as "real" american. I have had people ask me if "Americanos" would vote for Obama or just "Prietos".
And these are pretty educated people if they know who the hell Obama is!
Im a newbie monger, but Im becoming more and more convinced that non-pro is the way to go. It's tough if you have only 3 days in the country, I guess. But the more time I spend, the more I find non-pro girls ready to go all over. It really has to do with an attitude adjustment that has taken me a long time to accept.
Dominican girls welcome being told what to do. They welcome a man taking control of the situation -- even ordering a passing girl, "Get over here" = "Ponte a mi la'o". Many girls will keep walking, but a surprising number will come to your side. And gorgeous ones at that. And all you will pay for is an ice cream or a lunch.
Never hesitate and never show ambivalence. If you take control of the situation, many girls will follow you. Firm hand and all of that.
Thanks for the good discussion, fellas. If anyone wants to get together in SD, let me know!

Marzo, your remarks are very inciteful.
I agree..... in a society that is categorized by its "machismo" ...men are generally expected to take charge of things, and be in control of the affairs of the house as well as those of the bedroom.
Generally speaking I think Dominicanas sense (and at times prey upon) the weaknesses in their men. This is true whether you're talking about a LT relationship with a man living on the island, or a week long "fling" with an American traveler.
If you learn how.... NOT to "play" the victim and you work at your language skills so that you have at least a reasonable command of Spanish - I think you will be well served by this - anywhere your travels take you in Latin America.
(Marzo - we never had a fight....and I apologize for calling you perverse);)
cheers.........

Marzo,
Have to agree, with what said about the Non-pros. My experiences were about the same as with women. I took girls to the McDonalds and Ice Parlor down street from the University. I could sense they like men who is respectful but take control. Which is the same I saw in Costa Rica and Brazil. They also knew American politics very well. I was impress they were aware of current American issues.

Race in latin culture
Just my two cents.
Despite whatever problems still linger, racial relations in the US are light-years ahead of Latin America. In all of Latin America (especially the classes of European origin) social classes are very important and deeply ingrained. Not only regarding blacks, either.
The indigenous peoples (Indians, or “Indios”) are considered very much lower in status.
In the US on the other hand, some people will brag about being “one-eighth Cherokee”, etc. In upper latin society, they can’t understand why someone would broadcast that fact.
(It would be like going around white Mississippi in the 30’s bragging about being one-eighth black).
I also find that in cultures without much material wealth, personal dignity is important. You can be poor, but you need to maintain your dignity. Your clothes may be old and worn, but they are clean. (Any memories for you older guys out there?) You might not have been rich, but your mother/grandmother insisted on such things.
I believe this explains some of the conservative Dominican culture. A “proper” man wears long pants in public. As was mentioned previously, when some American black guys show up decked out in their hip-hop outfits, it might impress the kids, but to most Dominicans, you might as well put up a flashing neon sign that says “Low Class.” I have also observed a table of chicas I was sitting with rolling their eyes at a bunch of (white) guys who were clearly stupid drunk. They were clearly disgusted. They were hookers, but they had certain cultural standards. A chica I have known for a couple of years would be considered “black” in American society, but when another chica referred to being “negra” (black) my friend firmly corrected her, saying that she wasn’t “negra”, but “morena.”
How one behaves in public and treats others in very important in such cultures. Treating a girl disrespectfully or abusively in public is not appreciated by anyone. She might toleratethe humilitation because she needs the money, -but that's all.
On the other hand, treating people (not just chicas) respectfully, politely is appreciated and earns a lot of points respect-wise. The loud, vulgar behavior of hip-hop types is only tolerated as long as they spend money, but behind their backs, they are looked down on, even by the chicas.
At one establishment, I sat having breakfast with my overnight companion and observed a young (stupid) hip-hop type as he left his two overnight girls waiting for their money while he talked with his pal at one of the tables. They laughed loudly and went on about the nights exploits while the girls sat outside the room waiting. After a while, he sent them on their way, without a an offer of breakfast or even a "gracias". My companion rolled her eyes and called them "cangrejos" (crabs). In other words, like insects; low life forms.
When a hooker looks down on you like trash, you are probably are trash.
To be respected, to have real status, act like a “caballero” (gentleman). It will pay great dividends in all sectors of Dominican society. In public, act with a little dignity and courtesy to the chicas and you will always be sought after. I speak Spanish. I smile, compliment them, treat them like women, not garbage, and they love it. In a society where it is important, respect and courtesy are very welcome.
They will always be happy to see you arrive, not glad to see you go.

Yanqui69

Great Post!
I want to add that I had a Spanish teacher with whom our class discussed these issues. He made a point to say that he was 1/4 Indian and was proud of that part of his heritage. He clearly wasn't of the upper class.
Your advice on treated the chicas with respect is right on! It has paid off for me many times. There is a saying that a man should treat a 'courtesan' like a lady and a lady like a 'courtesan'. Don't know about the second part, but the first part works wonders!
(I had used a different word for 'courtesan' but it got censored out.)

appartemnts for rent?
Guys,
Could smb give me info on appartments for rent in SD?? I made a look on goggle but could NOT realy find something.
I am staying down there 5th febrero to 27 febrero.
I mean there are lots of advantages when staying in an appartment.....
I know SD isn't exactly cheap and (if you don't wanna sleep in a dumbster) you have to pay up US $ 40-50 a night for a hotelroom. OO And thats even cheap for SD standards....
Back in 2005 I paid 35 USD for a hotelroom in a hotel with pool (the tropicana; a bit outside the centre of SD)...right now the same hotelroom cost 45 USD...!!so they raised their price with 10 bucks in just a year!
TIA,
JOHAN

The whole race thing
Hi all,
Whats been going on these days?
There seems to be a similar race thread on another mongering board.
Anyway I think if you dress up and look sweet you should have no problems.
I am black and I always rockin my Armani wear, Prada wear, and ofcourse Valentino. I dont rock the jerseys. Occasionally I wear Nike shoes and casual wear but most of my casual is prada. So I cant see my self failing in DR when I visit this year be it with pros or non-pros

My DR experience
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crazysunny69 is right on about non pros. I was in DR last week for a short 4 day stay. I stayed at the Napolitano on the malecon. I arrived super late on thursday night due to a freaken cargo door that would not close, and they had us sitting in the plane for an hour and a half before take off. As a result, by the time I arrived to the hotel and checked in, it was 11:30pm.
I followed Crazysunny69's advice, called Santo( his number is has already been mentioned in this forum a page or two back), and he picked me up in less than 5 minutes, no joke. We went to Girlhouse, and in fifteen minutes I managed to have a beer, chat with the mangaer as well as Santo, pick a tall, slim, sexy morena called Ariana. I paid the house 2500 dr, Santo gets 800 dr from the house as a commission, and he gives me back 500 dr. So I end up paying 2000 dr when its all said and done. I just told him to keep the 500 DR. He deserves it.
Santo and I , along with Ariana had a disagreement with an employee at Hotel lobby next door, so ended up going to another small hotel a few blocks away. Santo picked me up about 2 hrs later, took Ariana back to Girlhouse, and took me back to my hotel. Gentlemen, this was the only experience I had in the entire trip with a pro, cause the other 3 days I met non pros and had a blast with them. As for the selection in the casa, I thought it was horrible. For whatever reason, it was not good at all. But then again, I was comparing it to my regular stomping grounds ( Brazil, Argentina, Colombia). I think everyone should give casas a try, I am sure you can find some cuties every once in a while.
Two main points here, Santo is extremely dependable and honest(at least with me he was), and I will use him again when going back to the DR, and point # 2 is that there really is no need for the casas if you speak at least some basic spanish. I speak the language extremely well being that my parents are hispanic.
I was fortunate enough to have a dominican friend whom I met through another close friend here in the states, pick me up the next day to check out the Capital. I met his family including his wife, and later that night I met one of his two girlfirends, lol, very true. So I was introduced to morenas by both his wife and his girlfirends, just too funny. But aside from that, I met a couple of other fine ass non pro morenas at bars and clubs. I could be writing forever about these encounters, but I will just suggest a few places where at least I know I picked up, and if I were to go back to DR next week, I would be garranteed to hook up a fine morena. I met women at Clubs such as Trio, Monte Cristo, Jet Set, and TGIF at a mall. I think it helps to know how to dance some basic merrengue, salso or bachata and I think it is necessary to at the very least speak some basic spanish if you are to have a chance of picking up a non pro with ease. The key word being with "ease".
I also met women on the street on the malecon last week friday when everyone and there mother hit the streets to celebrate the AGUILAS BASEBALL victory and championship. Cars could not move through the streets cause of the thousands of people in the way that were celebrating.
Women all over the place till 3 or 4 am.
I found the HardRock Cafe to be an awsome place to take a local morena out to dinner. She loved it. I really enjoyed that place.
I spent saturday afternoon at Boca Chica beach laying down and soaking some rays and relaxing. I was the only non european tourist there, I could have mingled with some Italian ladies that were part of a bigger group, but I was beat from the night before, and just decided to nap and relax. My domincan friend who picked me up earlier and drove me to the beach, was stuck taking care of his 5 year old daughter on the shore the whole time, lol. His wife was at home taking care of the one year old, but made him take the 5 year old to the beach with him. She was not stupid, she knew what she was doing, cause now the 5 year old was working as a low jack system for the mom, lol. He could not hit on other women with this responsibility at hand. As for working girls, I saw quite a few, and I was not impressed at all. By the way, I saw two that in my opinion were below the age of 18, so becareful fellas. This was my only experience in Boca Chica.
Overall, I nailed three different morenas, one a from girlhouse( decent bang, but nothing out of this world), and two other non pros that were sexy and great in bed. I know that they are looking foward to when I go back to DR, and so am I. Guys, in my opinion, I don't really see myself going to any casas during my next rip, cause the non pro women are so easy to pick up, it just doesn't make sense for me to deal with the pros, unless I am putting together some sort of a crazy party. That will happen on my next trip.
Again, the more spanish you know, the easier its going to be to meet the ladies with success. Even though I have not written much on this board, I hope this info. helps.
Crazysunny69, Forest, and Ford, thanks for all of your info., and help. Laters!

Xcellent report!
However there are key factors that must be taken into consideration. you are in what I call the "Monger Minority". Everyone can be in the group at some time or another. It all depends on the location an personal attributes of the individual. In your case, this is why you are the minority in DR.
1.Your parents are Hispanic. This implies that you look like either a person from Mexico, South or Central America.Latino refers to Spanish speaking people of the Caribbean and nonindigenous people of Northern S.America. In short, you probably look like you could be Dominican.
2.You Speak Spanish very well. Most of us either speak basic to conversational Spanish and are therefore,at least at current time, are limited in our ability to converse w/non pros.
3.You had the greatest of insde hook ups! A friend who has girlfriends who has friends?!? Had you paid for anything other than food and drinks I would have been upset.
I AM NOT FAULTING YOU FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE! As I said. We are all in that minority at sometime. I am US educated and raised but my family hails from Jamaica. While there I speak patois and American English and still dress American. The women love it! Glad you had a goodtime!

Curry
Thank you for your feedback. I agree with most of your points, but just for the record, I do not look moreno( dominican). Also, I usually tarvel solo and during my next trip to DR, I wll be going solo. I am extremely confident that with out any introductions, I will be able to socialize with women at clubs, street corners as well as the casas. Mainly because I can communicate well with them.
I will also add that I visit Brazil quite a bit, and I had plenty of fun during the first couple of trips. But I decided to take some lessons on portuguese for a few months prior to another visit to Brazil. Well, Brazil was a whole different experience, because I never though it could get any better. It was actually unbelievable. I am able to meet non pros and have dates with non pros as well as pros. Just incredible. So I strongly believe spending some money, time, and effort in learning a new language pays great dividends once arriving to your destination.
Lets face the facts, the majority of men participating in this sport are constantly looking for the GFE. Well, its pretty much a clincher once you treat the ladies with respect and have some good dialogue. Obviously there are some other variables involved, but for the most part, it amazes me when some men complain about the lack of GFE. But honestly, how the hell can one expect GFE without spending some quality time together. No matter how minimal time together, language is a must to get a good return(gfe), if thats what you are looking for.
I am sure that if learning a new language drastically enhanced my adventures in Brazil, I think the same would apply in DR. A gringo buddy of mine, who is a laywer, has learned to speak spanish well, and he makes a killing with non pro ladies in Colombia. In fact, I just told him a couple of days ago that he should work his magic in DR, and to give DR a shot this upcomming April. His experiences have changed for the better ever since he learn to speak spanish.
I want everyone to have a great time with the ladies from any nationality that turns them on. But my suggestion is to go the extra mile, and learn the language, because it will make a world of difference. Hope this helps.
-
My Point Exactly!
Please dont assume that I or other people havent taken the time to learn the language. My coversational Spanish is very functional. I have experienced more non pros in Brazil by turning good Spanish into poor Portuguese than I have non pro Dominicanas. Most would agree that language plays perhaps the largest role in creating a good experience with any woman regardless of race or nationality.Ones ability to communicate is key. However in the sport, language is seldom the definitive factor. If your family is Hispanic but you arent moreno, then you have an even more disticnt advantage! I dont want to waste time on the board. I'm just saying that your experience, while very good, is not typical. The inside links definitely help.Where in SD can one find an abundance of willing non pros? I've tried but with minimal success.
-
And not just in the DR!
Do to several cultural factors, this is not uncommon in a lot of latin cultures.
A Colombian "cousin-in-law" is in his 50s and married a girl 30 years younger. His sister married a man 25 years older.
Gives me some hope for my old age!
Curry,
You can find non pros anywhere and I mean anywheree. I speak poor spanish, AND I CAN STILL GET THEM at the airport, supermarket, plaza lama, haagen daz on lincoln, Trio, the beach, at a colmado, at the university, anywhere! anywhere, Anywhere! Spanish will help but you don't have to be 100% fluent!
Dominicanas even the non pros are the easiest women to conquer in the world! They love foreigners from anywhere as long as you are a gentleman and not a cheapo!
Imho ....No offense if you cannot bang a non pro here you need a confidence boost. Just believe in yourself. I have seen 70 year old men with 19 yr old model type, non pros. And to take it a step further, a 70 year old man and a 19 year old girl is acceptable to most families and commonplace in this crazy but very fun country! Obviously the old man has to have a couple of bucks in his pocket lol...
Again just have confidence and believe in yourself and give it the old college try and you will be amazed. If a girl turns you down don't let that hurt your confidence and keep on trying is my advice cuz anyone can hit the Jackpot!
CS
Come to think of it...
The non pros I have approached have been receptive. I guess I havent approached enough.I tried to bag a gorgeous girl who worked at the movie theater in the mall and she wasnt going for it. That sorta hurt my confidence as far as non pros go. I got stood up by a Booties employee the same week. Had to watch the kid sick mom etc.. Ater that I guess I just quit.I like the assurance of knowing whats going to happen which I guess is the reason we all are here in the 1st place!I never have a problem w/non pros in Brasil or otherwise. You know what? You all have helped renew my faith in the DRs non pro scene. I guess we can get spoiled with our shooting fish in a barrel tactics. Thanx guys!
