Just out of interest, and I'm not trying to be provocative, but do you negotiate down first (and then hope for an enthusiastic performance), or do you just slip them a 500Bht note on the way out?
And if you negotiate, what do you say? When I get asked 2000Bht for ST in BKK I can genuinely recoil in mock horror, and say 'No, too much' and make a counter offer. I'm not sure I could keep a straight face if I had to say 'What! 700Bht (£15) to have sex with a hot 20-year old? Too much!' :)
I speak to them in thai and I say "the normal price on this road is 500ST". Then I say " I don't want you for 2 hours only 30 minutes or so". Then I smile and say "come on lets go" That sometimes works, but if they turn sour during negotiating, I pay 600 or 700. It's not really a big deal, but if I can save money I will..
Soi 6 girls are bottom barrel and they know it. They go through so many guys in a day, so they will grab the easy 500 if they know its quick and fast. Most of these girls come from small villages "moo bahns" where 500 is a considerable amount of money which takes 2-3 days to make on the farm.
It's kinda a game (negotiating),but the main reason I negotiate price is because, throughout my time in Thailand, I've found that the girls willing to come down on price for sex are always better in bed than the girls who won't budge on price. I don't know the reason for this.
I could. What in Buddha's name does a 20 year old need with a whopping 700 baht?!
To give to the stupid useless Thai boyfriend who is feeding all that Bai Wan to her 20 year old brain.

You do get some that won't budge from 1000B, but in that case I pick someone else. At Clansman in particular they've tried to sting me for 1000, but reverted to 700.

Say 500 takes 3 days, then one day is 166. Say they work for 20 days, then that's 3300B. Would they really make 3300+ B/month on a farm?
Soi 6 girls are bottom barrel and they know it.
It's interesting, isn't it... I've only really discovered Soi 6 and its girls in the last couple of trips, and so far in 2 days I have been with 2 of them. Both absolutely stunning figures, slim, young and beautiful. Could easily be gogo dancers (although today's young lady probably had slightly smaller breasts than me!). Certainly the first was enthusiastic, while the second was by no means a starfish. They may be low in the Pattaya pecking order, but high in my estimation. :)
I've had enough experiences of chatting up girls in bars to know that the sex afterwards is somewhat hit-and-miss. At least with the Soi 6 girls they know exactly why you are there and I think they aim to deliver.

According to the 2009 mid-year economic review by the Bangkok Post, the monthly average wage in the agricultural sector is lesser than 4000 baht (it was 3679 baht in this review).

I know for sure that a lot of people living in the poor villages of Northeastern Thailand earn lesser than 3000 baht/month and most of them seem to be very happy.

Actually, the oysters were not terribly expensive, it was the combination of oysters and the crab dish that put the check-bin over the top. But both were very delicious, I must agree.
You said that the oysters were expensive. Must have been imported as I usually find that oysters in Thailand are extremely cheap and utterly delicious. I know that I shouldn't but I cannot resist a 'Hawy Tawt' omlette or two whilst in town and hope that my Hep A shots do their job!!
I like all kinds of Thai seafood - but I like to eat clam best :)
(Ask a Thai what it means if you don't know)

1000 ST gogos?
Anybody getting 1000ST from pattaya gogo's on walking street now? I'm finding almost all won't go below 1500ST. I'm not sure what's up (might just be me), but I used to get 1000ST from lots of gogo girls during past low seasons.

Go walk into some gogo's in Pattaya and you'll discover that almost any thai girl who is willing to put on a sexy uniform, get her hair done, and put on some make-up could easily become a gogo dancer.

September??
I'm not a newbie to LOS or Pattaya, but never been there in Sept. I am thinking about spending a week in Bali and a week in Pattaya in Sept. I think Bali will be fine in Sept. It should be more peaceful with the Aussies leaving after vacation, etc.
In Pataya, is this choice ok? I know it will be low season, but I"m sure I'll find a girl. LOL. However, I'm even more concerned about the weather. I know it's very rainy then. Is this a big deal?
While I'm asking, I"m assuming I probably have to do the RT from San Fran to Bkk...then Air Asia to Denespar, Bali?
Opinions?

Yes. And I wager the girls working in Pattaya would not be out as labourers back home. They probably help out on their family's paddy for no money, mostly.

Last time I took a girl at Thigh Bar in Patpong, which wasn't low season, mamasan gave me 2000 all in -- that's barfine, room in a ST-hotel opposite, and ST fee.
On Walking, there's Rocket A-go-go, they also do 2000 all in with room upstairs. OK if you don't want to go back to your hotel.
