I just did a little research and I can't find ANY confirmed coconut deaths, so that will have to remain a factoid. I do see that there are about 30 verified snakebite deaths per year in Thailand. So not a huge risk factor in Pattaya compared to cars and motorbikes, alcohol and drugs, high balconies, girlfriends and their families, etc.

However if you do want to worry about snakes, the guy who got the spitting cobra out of my backyard says that the one to watch out for around Pattaya is Russell's viper. Gray with brown splotches . . . .

There's plenty to do in Pattaya unless your total routine is "sleep, eat, drink, fuck...maybe swim" not necessarily in that order :) (but then you wouldn't really CARE, EH?)

I spend some time there but usually I'm "elsewhere" (and not in BKK EITHER - too much air polluted)

How easy is it to get prescription drugs in pattaya? I'm on some medication and going to Pattaya for a few months. I shouldn't run out but if I do, are there decent private doctors that can prescribe prescription medication for tourists? Never had to get any medical treatment before abroad so not sure how it works. I'll have a copy of my uk prescription with me.

Sorry to ask a mundane question but, now I have my accommodation in View Talay 6 on soi 9 for 2 or 3 months, does anyone know a decent gym that's close to there (or not cause I'll have a moped) that can pay monthly without long contract and isn't Too much a muscle gym :-).

I'm looking to keep in shape while I'm there as 2 or 3 months will make me VERY pom poi (yeah I know it's wrong so shut up) with all the beer and I know being Scottish that nobody can shag enough to work off the beer that i'm going to drink :-)

Just a wine induced pre Pattaya trip ramble. Bear with me :-)

I avoid the site most of the time until I'm just about to head back. No offence. I love this site. But I personally don't see the point discussing all this if I'm not going to be there for a while. It drives me crazy thinking of all you less hansum guys shagging all my 'girlfriends'. Except Kumbu. He's 'The One'! He can shag any of my laydeeeees! His greatness might rub off on me :-)

I occasionally go on and read some stuff and even rarer maybe reply to a post from a less experienced or even first timer. You guys do a great job on that anyway and I think the replies from most guys now are so much more helpful and friendly than it was a couple of years ago. This site was, in my opinion, dominated by a bunch of rude, nasty, bigoted guys that loved to belittle anyone on the site asking a question that was 'beneath' those that lived here or new it all. It intimated new guys and created an air of superiority.

They have all gone now it appears.

I stopped visiting, but kept visiting Pattaya. Loads of stories as a 25+ visitor but didnt want to post because of the twits.

Been catching up the thread from last few months. Kumbu and others have really brought this thread to life again and I really see a much nicer spirit here. Lots of old dogs too answering the questions with rarely a desultory comment. Great guys.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I've had a great few months read(in a few days) and definitely owe the site a lot of reports based on my 2-3 month trip to pattaya on 1st.

BUT Kumbu, fcuk, I was reading your reports on my iPad in a management meeting last week. WTF! Couldn't put it down :-) I'll buy you a triple espresso if we meet. :-)

P.s. Oh and happy to meet up during July and august in pattaya. Will also be in bangkok occasionally when I feel i have to leave all my girlfriends for a break :-)

It is VERY DIFFICULT to get anything more than an aspirin! A foreign prescription will not help at the local Pattaya pharmacies. I was taking a mild anti-depressant, ativan, forgot to pack the medicine, and then I could not get my prescription filled at any pharmacy. On advice of a pharmacist, I had to go to the Pattaya hospital (around the corner from Soi 8), wait to see a doctor, and explain my situation. He gave me a prescription which was filled at the hospital that same morning.

Save yourself the hassle: just go to the hospital and speak to a doctor.

Here in Phnom Penh, you can get anything from a drugstore, without a prescription. Same for Pakistan. For some reason, Thailand and the Philippines are strict with prescription medications.

Get on that moped of yours and scoot on down to Soi Bukow. If you drive to the end of Soi LK and turn right onto Soi Bukow there is a gym on your right hand side. It's owned by Tony. I haven't been in there, but I was in Pattaya two weeks ago and noticed people working out in there. I've no idea of costs etc., but it's open 24 hours.

Generally, it's only drugs that have mind or mood altering effects that are only available at hospitals. Many drugs that are prescription only (at least in America), such as antibiotics and arthritis meds, are available over the counter in Thailand. But it definitely pays to shop around, as prices vary a lot!

That's weird I had no trouble getting prescription medication without a prescription in Pattaya. I went accross the street to the right from the Marriot to a pharmacy next to "Bob Fashions" (a great tailor by the way). I was having trouble sleeping so I asked for some Ambian. She said they didn't have any so I asked her what she had that would help me sleep. She suggested Xanax. While I was at it I picked up some Viagra (sometimes I get nervous with a new woman, but I don't usually need it). I remember it was cheap. This was exactly one year ago. I sure love staying at that Marriot.

This is not meant to [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140][CodeWord140][/url] you off Mr. John-The-Scot but Ativan (Lorazepam) is not an antidepressant, its an anxiolytic, a benzodiazepine (largely in the same class as Valium) that is moderately abuseable. That is likely the reason that its a bit hard to get over the counter in Thailand. That being said, I've gotten stuff like that and harder stuff without a prescription.

My spitting cobra? Just over a meter long. The cats used to go out and taunt it but the only thing it ever spit at was me. Cobras in Thailand tend to be pretty timid unless cornered.

drugs... well now, you can get pretty much anything except for narcotics at the kai-ya. Maybe not at EVERY kai-ya but as was said, other than what would be considered mind altering or narcotic, you can get it all. Particularly antibiotics and the like. I take a small supply of acet-oxycodone with me (in my script bottle) since that's hard to get. I tote my various pills as well in bottles of daily doses. Never been asked so I can't say what the net would be as far as questions about my script meds (but nothing "dangerous" in the mix anyway)
