However things could change, yet how, and in which ways is totally un-predictable. If Omega takes hold here, it might get weird, but I doubt they will go into lockdown mode here again unless the ICU capacity maxes out, which was used in the past to determine lockdowns.

And as far as which month to visit, again this is totally un-predictable. When the Delta variant swept around the globe it basically didn't sweep thru Colombia. There are some explanations for this, but with Omega, Colombia may not as fare well.

Your not alone in trying to figure out what to do, I myself am not sure if I want to be in town if Omega hit's hard here. I left earlier this year when they went into lockdown mode for a few months. But again I doubt this will happen, but if Medellin gets hit like what has been going on in New York City, it might not be much fun here.

I'm going to see how it goes in the next few weeks, and I might leave, but wonder if going back to California might actually be like going from the frying pan to the fire.

Not just by my observation but I have spoken with some of the staff who confirmed as much. There is one casa where they lost 90% of their staff because of what they said was the flu. There is much coughing and sniffling to be heard by the girls who are still working. But I guess my point was that it being a relatively safe place at night, and I agree it probably is, does not mean that it would be safe to be walking around the metro stations or plaza Botero at night.
