Have you read the recent report in the Pattaya forum from Red Mosquito (an Indian guy) who tries to explain the type of behavior that Wolven alluded to? It was very informative. It doesn't sound correct. Just think of the Philippines. China also has millions of prostitutes, although it doesn't have that reputation. I reckon prostitution is huge all over Asia really, just like it used to be in the West only 100 years ago. The quote also makes it sound like it's normal and accepted to be a hooker in Thailand, and it's not, most girls do not tell their families.

I would venture to say that straight and narrow Thai girls coming from good families are more conservative than Western culture. I can't even meet my GF's dad because we're not engaged and also my occupation isn't the most prestigious LOL.

I just think Thailand has a reputation because a lot of it is geared toward the western sex tourists.

In most western countries, the number of prostitutes per head of population is far higher than for any Asian country.

I live in a small town in Australia. Every day, in my local paper, I will find at least half a page of ads by prostitutes. We have a legal brothel in town. At any time, night or day, I can pick up the phone and organise sex of any kind, heterosexual, homosexual, little boys, little girls. Phone sex, lap dances.

As Thailand has its centers for P4P in Pattaya and Bangkok, so do cities in Australia, at Kings Cross, St Kilda etc. The biggest sex tour in the world is in Australia. It is the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and it is supported by government. Front page headlines with the opening of a new, super-brothel, with hundreds of rooms, priced at $270 per hour. 24 hour operation. Asians are amateurs in comparison.

There are 400, 000 registered prostitutes in Germany, and who knows how many unregistered.

So my perception is that prostitution in western countries is far more pervasive than in any Asian country. On the basis of prostitutes per capita.

Based on my own Asian mongering and what I see on other Asian ISG forums and surfing Asian Craig'slist sites, I think prostitution is much more in the open than what I saw in the US. I've not really mongered in Europe so my view is admittedly limited. But in Asia, Thailand is not so different I think. Want a sugar baby in Singapore? PI? Indo? Cambodia? Viet Nam? Hong Kong? Take your pick man!
