Always had a love hate relationship with the place, but usually had fun there. I called an old GF from Hot Dogs and she told me that all the girls are moving to Concert. Which is about 200m furher along the road (same side) as HD. Apparently there was trouble with the mamochka not paying the police their cut from the girls' 2000rub exit fee. Not sure if the police closed it, or if its going to be redeveloped (which was mooted a few years ago).

Its true that lots of Moscow institiutions that were expat friendly have closed (started with the Exile IMHO) but there are still thousands of unexplored and unreported bars and clubs full of what we're all looking for. Just got to be brave and get stuck in.

Let's be truthful about Moscow. Starting about four years ago, the culture turned toxic towards foreigners. If you have true business purposes in the city, by all means go explore. I've never experienced any toxic behavior and I've made 50+ visits to Moscow in the last 12 years. Its true that foreigners aren't the great catch they used to be, but that doesn't mean that the girls don't appreciate good fun, good humour, good manners and good sex. Moscovites are generally helpful and inquisitive and they love to have fun. I've had my fair share of GF's and PFP and no real bad experiences. And the girls' attitude to sex is much healthier than in many other countries. I've even shared a bottle of vodka with a police captain after being taken in for a 'problem' with my visa. Its all about attitude. If you go to Moscow with the view that its toxic and nobody likes you. Then that's probably what you'll find. History has a tendency to repeat itself, and Moscow was whole lot more fun under stricter state control than in the last few years of "democracy", so President P maybe doing us all a favour)

BTW stoppped studying Russian. Usually you have a great motivation when you already turn back from EE and after a time you loose it because you don't need it in your own country.

I believe picking up a girl from such places depends on your choice of the true target with true strategies and of course with your looking and age. I have to admit that I was 12-13 years older than the girls there and I was just mindblowed with one of 20 s legs. She was friendly but didn't accept my offer for going to havana club together.
