How can I know what I will do that time, it is still long time ... chances to prepare things...:)
But most likely I will suffer and meet you - if you insist :) .
...
There was an element of feeling comfortable coming back to Livingstones which is what I would like to do when I am back in June. I had never been in the position before and didn't know if by walkng away there may have been some issue with the lady I left at the post! My experience is with Thai ladies they typically have very long memories.
...
Fleetz,
one more comment on your report.
Don't worry about that anybody will remember that story from last year. Even if that single girl is still working here and remembers it has no impact on the others, especially not on the non-bargirl staff of Livingstone's.
Other girls in the bar will appreciate a customer who talks nicely to them, buy a few drinks and take them out.
Giotto
Fleetz, Brain666, Bill Lee,
A clear statement how I see the issue:
Within the two years Livingstone's is open for customers we have had some complaints. There are basically two groups of complaints: Those I take seriously because I accept the issue from the customer, something went wrong, the customer was overcharged, something in the room was not working, service lousy, steak wrongly cooked etc. etc. . Then there are those complaints of customers which I do not accept, customer suddenly changing their minds about the girls, complaining about the number of drinks, but we are sure that the bill is OK etc. etc. .
In this case - though it is months ago - I tend to simply believe the story. I don't think a girl should need longer than 15 min. to change, and a make up and preparation for the night will anyway be done in the customers hotel / apartment later. This girl had most likely something to do in the background, some chit-chat with friends, or she was not motivated at all - whatever it was - I find it NOT acceptable to let a customer wait longer than 15 min., this shows disrespect and bad behavior. This is NOT what we want here at Livingstone's.
Returning happy customers are more important for Livingstone's than THB 1,000.00 - I would not even think a second about refunding or not, I would simply fix that problem.
For others: If there are complaints don't hesitate to contact the Mamasan or the management directly, everybody will listen to what you have to say. And then we can directly deal with the problem, know about girls which do not fit in here, and can upgrade the quality of all areas of Livingstone's step by step.
Giotto
Hi Giotto,
I believe I have stirred up a hornets nest!
This was never my intention nor was it a complaint nor was it attempt to claw back the bar fine. I do NOT want the bar fine, I believe I have made that clear now three times. Again for the third time I left it. Livingstone’s did NOT take it. It was my decision and don't regret leaving it I would have regretted it if I took it back!
I did the correct thing at the time well at least I thought I had, my error was raising it here it a vain attempt to see if through my action nearly a year on would effect how I may be received back. Hence the couple of comments about being set on by a screaming Thai banshee’s!
That it is all the post was about, Giotto no one doubts your integrity! You have a business that is WITHOUT question professionally run and is highly respected.
This again was not a complaint and I apologies if in anyway it appears that way. The pesky one was honest and up front when the time come and I decided she was the one for the night. Again her English and my Thai probably was the issue not communicating her situation, she was definitely not trying to mask anything.
The other girl was doing her job. Given my decision not to go with the pesky one I had only briefly spoke to Sonya and the other bar lady. Having interpreted the situation and not being committed for the night she was making herself available for a customer. So I don't want you to think the girls were attempting to mislead me in anyway they certainly were not and did not.
The Thai-English thing goes with the territory I believe it is in part what make Thailand an experience. Bottom line if we were able to communicate verbally I would have cut to the chase not long after calling her over. I would have found out a lot earlier NO question and she would not have had to go through what was probably an embarrassing situation it getting her friend to explain her situation. When I made the decision to BF her she gestured I didn't understand and her friend interpreted the situation. Up until that point I would have been customer just having a drink and enjoying her company which I did irrespective of the language void.
I regret mentioning the BF now and was only done in the context of highlighting that at that point in time I felt that it was not right and I decided to leave. Your kind and genuine gesture in returning is appreciated and highlights your ethics and values. It is not about BF and I am NOT going accept the kind offer. I left it, it was not an issue that Mamasan needed to attend to.
The 15 minutes gave me time for the blood that had built up in my other brain 3 feet south of my main brain to pump back in. When the blood returned to the main brain I decided it didn't feel right NO one else.
I assumed the lady was getting herself in order and looking slick, again not a complaint. We all like the ladies looking stunning, again what we all want, you would not want to know how long the missus takes to get ready! 15 minutes is a walk in the park.
If only I spoke Thai. After all I am batting on a Thai strip, when you get down to the nitty gritty this is where issue stemmed from and grew to. Livingstone’s, the pesky one and the other bar lady are in no way to blame.
Here I am wanting to find out what other members might have done in my situation and if I was likely to welcomed back at Livingstone's or if I was likely to be set by screaming Thai banshee's with good memories. . . . Now I have to watch out for a German Kato (aka from The Pink Panther)! (-:
Sorry for the long post but felt it needed it.

Fleetz

Well I don't have to stay with you, I just thought it would be fun to torment you!
2008 btw
PassinThrough,
No, you will make me drunk again, and later then try to bar-fine me...NO!!!
Giotto
No? That wasn't what you said last time, I think it was you that was telling me you would waive the bar fine on yourself for another drink. But like I said previously you just don't have right legs for me :-)
PIT
Feb 2008 btw
Now that's what I call long-term planning.
Hope you get laid before then. :D
A German Kato !
I'm laughing my ass off (LMAO). That's hilarious.
:)
BTW Giotto, I have finalized my flights (YEAH!) and will arrive Oct 12th and check out Oct 19th. I wonder how many customers book 5-6 months away? I should be able to book a good room this far out. OK, it's not as far away as Pete, but I'm not as much trouble as he is either. ;)
I will contact your staff via the website within the next day or so, unless I should PM you directly.

OK, OK. Just get over here, I remember that you anyway wanted to work here as a bartender long time ago - let's try that :) . Will it be the torture you are talking about?
Fleetz,
no, actually I think you have described a situation which we all have experienced already in our mongering lifes.
This was never my intention nor was it a complaint nor was it attempt to claw back the bar fine.
Understood, and I never thought it was about that. Then your writing style had been different. It was just an offer from me.
That it is all the post was about, Giotto no one doubts your integrity! You have a business that is WITHOUT question professionally run and is highly respected.
Thanks, and part of that is simply to care about what customers experience and write here, and offer solutions for them. But the better solution for you and me seams to be: just come here again, and I invite you for a dinner! And then we walk into the Sports Lounge and watch what happens.
The 15 minutes gave me time for the blood that had built up in my other brain 3 feet south of my main brain to pump back in. But our girl should not have let you wait for 15 minutes. That's the issue for me here, that's where I have to look into.

Thanks for your explanation, I think we understand that incident in the same way, and there is no problem for you to return to the Lodge, not with me and not with the ladies in the Sports Lounge.

Giotto
Hi Giotto,
Thanks for the feedback.
Interesting comment you make that a lot of fellow mongers are likely to have experienced this before. Makes me feel more comfortable with my decision to bale. It should feel right. Thanks
Your persistance in admirable! I will take you up on your dinner invitation only if I can buy you some beers! I will be heading back to BKK in June so I will catch up with you and stay a few days at the Lodge.
You obviously are not familiar with the Pink Panther movie series starring the late Peter Sellers as the bumbling inspector. He had an assistant Kato an Asian guy that alway use to try and surprise attack the inspector when he returned home. You have to see if you can get a DVD the series of Pink Panther movies are very very funny. Which is why ArchieLeach is currently wetting his pants! (-: When you see Kato in the movies you will understand where I was coming from. So I assure you the comment of a German Kato was not derogatory in anyway. Just my way of adding a lighter side to the post.
Regards,
Fleetz
PS The Pink Panther series of movies must be at least 25. 30 years old. So you must have been in your infant years when the movies were made!
I'm in Bangkok for the first time, staying at Livingstone's. I live China, so I've got an odd perspective. I'm used to hot Asian women, limited food options, and very cheap prices. Yes, Thailand is actually expensive if you're used to Chinese prices!
But this place - the Lodge - is great. The restaurant has great selections, and everything is well done and delicious. I could probably eat every meal while I'm here in-house and not repeat myself (but I'm going to anyway). There doesn't seem to be a dessert section, so let that be my sole complaint.
The room (superior - I'm cheap) is nice, bed fantastic. Too comfortable, in fact, since I end up sleeping later than planned every day.
Location seems good to me - I can find everything I'm looking for in the area, and the transportation is good. I haven't taken full advantage of the Sports Bar, but only because I'm trying to see everything, being new to town.
Guito and the staff are all friendly and helpful. I'll stay here again.
Oh, but I can't PM, since my subscription won't go through. Haven't figured out who to talk to about the promotion, but I've still got a few days.
So... what to write? Giotto told me I have to write a report for getting some voucher. Really hard, I can not think about anything new for this forum.
I stayed in Linvingstone's already 3 or 4 times, the value for money is great Sometimes I stay in Penny Black/SC if I have odd travel timing, and even there they charge you 1200B. Superior room here is only 600 more and you get a pool, better facilities, free WLAN and a really good pool side restaurant, with friendly people everywhere and if you ask, they are happy to show you how they make it:-)
Arrived yesterday and went for a shower at Akane. This place is generously covered on the forum, only a 5 minute walk from the Lodge, and one of the reasons why I like to stay here. I always visit Sally there, who by the way had birthday last week. She was a bit mad with me because I forgot her present.
Went over to SC early evening, I rarely BF girls from bars any more, since I keep in touch with the girls I already know, I have the probably wrong mindset that this gives me a better experience. Mainly because I am in BKK ~every 2 months, and I am soooo tired of the "hello how are you whats your name where you come from you buy me drink you speak thai --- silence" stuff again and again. But yesterday I just felt like it:-)
I should not go to bars early in the evening... first I end up bar hopping all evening, always in hope for finding "something better", and drinking too much. Also, the girls do not seem to believe in closing a deal early in te evening. Nowadays they ask for 3000 LT... and they are not overly willing to go down early. Probably they are always in hope for finding "something better" while it is early ;-)
The bars in SC are the same ever since, with my favorite being "Rawhide". But they are all the same more or less.
Went over to NEP. To me, the main difference between SC and NEP is that in NEP the bars are a bit more "distinguishable", if this word exists. What I do in NEP is, I go to Angel Witch, Erotica, Rainbow 4, chat up some girls, buy them a drink, tell them "will come back later, need to visit a friend". In between I check out the other bars for a drink, I never likes any of the other bars, but I somehow have in mind that the other bars might have changed and I should check for news there as well. So, no news again, I still don´t like the other bars, oh, yes, the former mamasan of Erotica is now working in Mercury. Oh, that reminds me that the mamasan of TILAC in SC really lost weight. I could not recognize her, but since she knew my name and stuff I have to believe her. Ugly brat, but honest and fun.
Anyway, took a girl from Angel Witch (which was packed as usual last night), 2000 LT, she just left for "going to school".
Coffee finished, have to go downstairs for more...
Also, I have a problem now. My flight is at midnight, so I need to get over with the day somehow. Probably Eden after lunch, some legit massage and then some soapy. So I can sleep on the plane hopefully.

...
Fleetz,
LOL. I watched that series too, but I don't remember the name. But now I remember the character...but I am not that good in Karate.
I could surprise you in the Jacuzzi when you stay here ... :) , but I am quite sure that you don't appreciate surprises like that.
El Doktor,
Thanks for your report. And thanks for staying at Livingstone's.
Yes, we have to work on our desert menu - the problem is that not many customers ask for desert, and it is hot here, difficult to keep things fresh once they are prepared. That's the reason why we only offer deserts which are prepared freshly.
Hope to see you again soon.
