Extreme Caution
As many long-time readers of this forum will know, I'm in a long-term relationship that I value highly, so my days of catting around clubs and pick-up area in Davao are long gone. However I used to get bombarded with PMs asking if, through my lady, I could fix them up with exactly the type of presentable, intelligent women whom it's not so easy to meet if you don't live here, or at least have contacts here. At the beginning, I was only too happy to help, as we know some really attractive, well educated younger women who have a strong desire to meet foreign guys. Unfortunately, most of these meetings did not end well, and the guys had some difficulties distinguishing between these women and rent-a-girls. Either that, or that had forgotten, in some cases, how to behave with "normal" women, and were so awkward and socially inept that it was embarrassing. I've since given up, and I just don't do it anymore for people I don't know pretty well.
I think RK and I share a common perspective on these requests. We live here, and we can't afford to have our reputations besmirched by guys who are crass, impolite and who seem to honestly believe that as soon as they stepped of the plane they became irresistible to women 20 years younger than they. This is not to denigrate the hundreds of sincere, decent guys out there, but I'm no longer willing to take the chance, sight unseen. There's a saying in French that goes: "Un homme averti en vaux deux," which I guess roughly translated means once bitten, twice shy. I've been bitten more than once.

GE, RK, GL: I totally respect that. I will be moving to the PI in a few years and will only set up dates with people I know and trust. I've been fairly lucky finding my own dates including some exquisite non-pros. Still, if any of you want to get together for a beer or two I'd be happy to buy.
Here's my schedule:
May 1. 3 Makati.
(then off to Hanoi and Saigon for work)
May 15. 17 Malate.
May 18. 19 Dumaguete.
May 20. 22 Cebu City.
Cheers!
my peeps tell me it was sold last week.
seems like the former owner had too many setbacks including the fire.
mattrick,
yes the bar has been sold, but i have heard two different versions of who will own the bar, the combinations are well known to frequent visitors of cebu. i know all parties involved but not sure until the dust settles who's name will be on the deed.
i was even offered outright ownership in the last few weeks on march but i declined and replied with the old saying,"the only way to make a small fortune in the philippines, is to start with a large one".
i noticed a fresh delivery of sml a few days ago and some staff cleaning with the door open, which will hopefully reduce the resident cockroach population to a more acceptable level.

I never minded them on the floor except for the little baby buggers who used to run along the edge of the bar between me and my drink. The girls used to try to swat them away before I saw them hehe.
There must be generations of roaches living there who will only be removed by one of those industrial strength insecticide bombs.
I hope SD re-opens, roaches or no roaches.

Well stated
Sxxx.
I figured it would be only a matter of time before you crawled out from the woodwork again spitting venom in your usual style. Look back through your posts on Jonquera, you contradict yourself one minute saying it is safe and the next minute you are saying how dangerous it is. Its a shame you don't remain lurking on the board (your words not mine) and stay away from posting, your childish sarcasm is not helpful and nor is it welcome.
Since you mentioned it and not me, my Jonquera reports have all been based on actual visits and personal observations. The old post of mine on Jonquera that you mention got you pissed because I stated something that you thought you knew better and you resented being told anything. After all you are an expert are you not? It was not because my post was in any way misleading or untrue, yet another one of your many contradictions.
I have never said downtown is safe and I don't think anyone else has either, perhaps you have been reading the wrong posts Sxxx? Downtown is certainly poor and neglected and you need to keep your wits about you at all times, just like you need to do in any similar area of any other foreign city at night. However your armchair criticism and suggestions that you are likely to be murdered by going there is going just a bit too far. Yes if you walk round drunk, flash your cash, or show disrespect you are likely to end up in serious trouble. Stick to the main thoroughfares, behave confidently and be observant and you can try a taste of the raw and seedy part of Cebu without (as Sxxx suggests) ending up in a morgue.
It is immaterial to me whether people go or stay away from the downtown area and I know it is not everyone's cup of tea. I enjoy myself downtown at night, I try to exercise common sense and I do not see why anyone else should not. Excessive scare mongering is a bit silly in my book and if you do not agree with GG's or others posts, you don't need to be rude or insulting to articulate your point
Again, well stated Mortman.

Cuchulain.
I don't know if you read my post on Lapu Lapu but a visit and a field report would make interesting reading if you want to explore the Lapu Lapu scene. The area I mentioned is as far as I can tell is not frequented much by foreigners, I may try and visit there when I am back in July. I have also visited Casas in Lapu Lapu, they do exist but you will need to use a taxi driver which carries with it the inherent risk of being ripped off. The last time I used a casa in Lapu Lapu, the taxi driver got out and started talking to the manager in Cebuano. I had the feeling the taxi driver negotiated himself a commission, but it still only cost me 1500 as I remember. As for DIA girls, you didn't say when your visit to Cebu starts but surely you have made some effort before hand to contact girls? I find the pros and semi pros on DIA are easier to meet, they are less likely to let you down than regular girls and they are usually easy to spot on DIA in their bikini or underwear shots or their provocative and sexual poses
I will give an updated report on lapu lapu, I know they have a mall called the grandmall, I might be the only white guy in that place, but I think I might give it a shot. I seen you posted about a street scene in lapu lapu, maybe If I can find a taxi driver who I trust, I might venture in there. We will see how it goes.
Thanks for the info on the dai about the pros and semi pros, That helps when looking for an almost sure thing well as close as you can get on dai.
By the way, I have been to cebu before, and I not interested in contacts for anyones gf. But if you know a good semipro send me a message.
Thanks, All
My experience of providing contact details has been very mixed. On the positive side 2 girls have got married and 2 are now engaged to be married through the help I've given them finding guys. Others have had trips to various places or financial assistance which has come in very useful. 95% of the guys have been appreciate of my help. The problem comes with the 5% when things go wrong. Some guys are not above posting BS stories in this forum to trash a girl's reputation if they break up with her or are otherwise overcome with jealous frustration / anger. The other issue is that many guys think that helping other guys out is such an odd thing to do that they can't believe you are not getting some sort of financial or other benefit, so you get disparaging innuendo about being some sort of pimp. A further problem is that many guys who come to the Phils prefer to have unprotected sex and inevitably this results in unwanted pregnancies and STDs because in most cases the girls are too weak to insist on safe sex. Being a nice guy, I always seem to be the one they turn to for advice or help dealing with these issues with the guy responsible for her condition disappeared from the scene.
The net result is that speaking personally I have become much more cautious about giving out contact details than I was earlier.
I tend to agree. When I first started off here, I was green and thought everyone only told true stories. That illusion ended quickly. Today, I've become more cautious myself but have the pleasure of meeting a few members here and some I've met were not members at the time but have since convinced them to join up and share their experiences since. (such as Sharka who many have said is very reliable and super helpful). For the most part, the shared times were very enjoyable with most that I've met so far, although I do remember meeting 1-2 asses along the way.
But even if I never met up with some members, just reading some of the post and experiences and helpful advices also tells me alot about that person and for those selected helpful and friendly members I've always offer to help when they PM me. Its just the way things work in the ISG world.
. Its just the way things work in the ISG world.
Hey PT,
Just wanted to say thanks for all the nice tips you gave me last time I had the pleasure of meeting you when I was in Manila, not to mention the 2 or 3 beers. You are one stand up guy. Hope to return the favor someday but for now your knowledge and experiences far exceeds mine.
I agree with your thoughts also. Bottom line is if you are nice and help others then others will always return the favor. PM me when you are going back to PI as I would like to meet up with you again and return the 3 beers I still owe you.
Cheers and beers buddy,

Thanks, All
They have a Gaisano Mall in Lapu Lapu not sure if this is the one you are talking about. It's like a typical mid range provincial mall. You will find a handful of white faces but not many. Of course there are hundreds of pretty girls there but unlike Ayala and SM they won't be there specifically to hunt for foreigners they will have come to do their shopping. If you have the knack you can for sure strike up conversations and get numbers etc but you would need to be non shy and good at that sort of thing. At SM / Ayala you are going to get tracked down by the pros who will specifically wander around aimlessly and give you the eye as they are hunting for potential customers.
There are plenty of DIA girls who are based in LL who would be good candidates. Often they will put Cebu rather than Lapu Lapu as their location but getting them out downtown is often a problem.

146 bargirls rescued!
Blaring headline in yesterday's Cebu newspaper, The Freeman, which is generally even handed.
"146 KTV BARGIRLS RESCUED IN RAID"
This was apparently a full-on media event coordinated by a number of agencies, including.
The Regional Intelligence Division 7, the Regional Anti-Trafficking Force, Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.
And the Department of Justice. The International Justice Mission and the Department of Social Welfare.
Also took part in the raid.
The raid took place midnight Saturday at the Club Jaguar KTV Bar after reports that some minors were working at the bar.
Hmmmmn, really? Minors working at a bar? Naw, not in Cebu! I was especially impressed that all 146 girls.
Had been "rescued".29 of them could be minors. This estimate came from the checking of teeth! One girl did admit to being a minor. No mention of her feeling relief at being "rescued".
All 146 were carted off to a detention center. Does this herald further "rescue" raids to protect the thousands of victims in all the other bars? Couldn't possibly be another meaningless grand-standing event, could it?
More likely, that somone either pissed the authorities off, or (cynical me) , the elevation of shake-down 'fees'
At other bars could be in the offing.

STDs / Pregnancies
How many of your girls got knocked up or infected by diseased mongers who then fled the scence leaving you holding the bag for abortions or STD treatments?
Over the last 15 months I've gotten involved in 4 cases of STDs and 7 pregnancies. 2 girls ended up giving birth, one a normal birth another an emergency caesarian of a premature baby following attempted late abortions. 4 abortions and 1 18 year old who is currently pregnant and already tried unsuccessfully at abort twice.
I am not suggesting "mongers" are responsible for all of this, in most cases which guy is responsible is a matter of speculation and debate and I suspect Phil BFs are the bigger threat but in some cases mongers are clearly implicated. In some cases they act responsibly and help financially in others the girl either has no contact info or the guy refuses to help, in others another western guy steps up to help and I have just given moral support / advice / found out where to get treatment etc, in others the girl is able to earn or borrow enough to pay fro treatment. The whole abortion scene here is an absolute nightmare. Girls are given zero sex education. A large majority of Phil guys and a high proportion of foreigners refuse to wear condoms. Girls are generally too shy / poor / embarrassed to seek STD treatment unless the symptoms become really obvious. Getting advice on abortions here is a nightmare as is picking up abortion drugs or finding out about underground clinics and advice on the right dosage etc, the girls are often getting conflicting advice re whether to keep or abort the baby. The whole thing is a major headache and one of the root causes of many of the problems faced in the Phils.

Lapu2x
Does anyone know the lapu lapu scene?
Yes I'm familiar with Mactan and Lapu2x and as I have said before, it is a world onto itself! Most guys just pass through coming to and from the airport and don't give it a second thought. The fact is there are probably more boarding houses per square kilometer then anywhere in the Pines! These house women that are the backbone to the growing manufacturing sector, among other things.
There are several malls including the new Grand Gaisano which upon my last visit still had a few vacancies but was gaining traction. The best mall for women in my opinion is the old Gaisano located on the National Highway. Marina Mall is another possible place for meeting available women.
The bar scene is good with over a dozen go go bars that cater to the ever present Asian clientele as well as local expats. There are more then a few casas with some reserved only for the Japanese. Find a trustworthy cabbie who can take you around and show you the nightlife. One time a cabbie took me to a shooting range where I was able to shoot the gun of my choice including a M-16!
If you are friendly and adventurous, you should be able to make friends very quickly just by walking around and / or hanging out. My local Pinoys friends have some reservations exploring Lapu2x but that is because they fear the unknown. But those who seek shall find a bonanza!
