I dropped in to Lone Star, my favorite Cebu bar last Monday evening and had my usual good fun there.

I was told that Graham, the Aussie Lone Star owner, has bought Silver Dollar and it is open for business again.

If he runs the same operation / business model in SD as he does in Lone Star, then fun times are back again.

My friends in LS desperately wanted me to go bar-hopping with them to check out SD but I didn't have the time.

Can we have a heads-up from a Cebu local on Silver Dollar please. Opening times? Prices?

i have been to those downtown disco's as you call them, out of curiosity, and i tell you, very few if any prostitute girls go to them. they are poor boy meets poor girl disco's, and from my observations, better for foreigners to keep away from them, otherwise you might tangle with a drunk filipino guy.

i say, if 50 girls, maybe 2/3 are prostitutes, not 40 as reported. after two trips to phils you can tell who and who is not a prostitute, who and who is not a ladyboy, in a split second, as they walk by, not bad.

the fact is, they are poor girls and guys who can't afford to go to other more refined disco's, not prostitutes and not ladyboys. small number might be prostitutes and ladyboys, but nowhere near the figs you quote.

Yes Graham of Lone Star is the new owner of Silver Dollar, but I heard back in March there was the possibility of a partner, Chris the former part owner of Silver Dollar and Blue Angels. I am not sure if that is the case or Graham is the only owner. I bumped into Graham 4am at Julianas a few weeks ago when SD was closed but its not the right time to talk about business.

Robb posted it was closed because Carl did not pay the staff, I don't think thats the direct cause. He did not pay the staff because he did not have the cash. The credit card machine was turned off weeks before due to non payment and the suppliers one by one were not paid and stopped deliveries. The end result was clear 60days before the bar closed as Carl looked to sell and get out.

I have not visited since the bar reopened so I can't comment on the resident cockroach population but I did walk by last week and there was a new photocopied sign on the door that reads "Open 1pm- 1am".

Updates on the New Silver Dollar would be informative, barfines, prices, same staff or new staff?

Update: As someone else reported last week Robinson's Mall was closed due to fire. As of today it was still closed until further notice. Of course most of Cebu is closed also in honor of Holy Week.

First of all I want to say thanks to all of you good people on here, I've been reading for months on here before my first trip to cebu (or asia for that matter).

I really fell for the place, but a strange thing happend there. Had one last night to spend there and after being out all day I return to my room, and find that there was missing 5000 peso. Last year a board member passed me the YM and phone number of a student in Cebu when I was visiting. Another student who needed help. A quick chat in YM and she was at the hotel 90 minutes later. A typical 3-hour afternoon session followed. While she was in the bathroom dressing to leave, I put a p500-note in her purse (never had a cebuena complain at that amount, most smile and kiss my cheek on the way out; then offer a repeat or a cousin). When she said "you pay me now" I told her it was in her purse. She took it out and this angry thing ensued:
