Soi 1 is quiet and pretty much as far from Walking Street as you can get, but the bath bus will get you there in five-ten minutes. I always stay in this area, it's a tiny bit saner than the rest of the wonderful madness that is Pattaya.

My only qualm would be the lack of the Thai alternative to toilet paper in the bathroom - it's not only the girls who miss the little water sprayer, I had one installed back home when I redid my bathroom a year ago :D

Scene 1:

If your GF is a reasonably pretty/young white girl or a pretty young Asian girl then many Thai girls will love that idea. You certainly won't have to pay extra. If she is an overweight 40 year old, it will be more difficult and some extra payment will be required. If she has insecurities about her looks / weight etc it could cause problems but you know her personality.

If you go to Pattaya and especially with this situation I would suggest staying at the Penthouse Suites in Soi Pattayaland and paying up for one of the better rooms with jacuzzi etc. The Penthouse gets some mixed reviews in this forum, I would say mainly because the rather idiosyncratic owner has managed to wind a few vocal people up the wrong way over the years. The reason I think it's the right place for your plan is that the place is a "fantasy" hotel where the atmosphere and decorations are deliberately designed for over the top sexuality. Mirrors everywhere, jacuzzis walk in showers sex swings etc etc. You want to give your GF the impression that this is a fantasy holiday outside your normal life, which you can both remember and fantasize about rather than some sort of descent into scuzziness which might be the general impression if you stay at some other places. I have seen quite a few couples stay at the penthouse, often Russians where the women seem to be rather more open minded about such things than in the west.

3-some or not, myself mongering in Thailand or not, after visiting Thailand twice a year since 3-4 years (and mongering, there, yes!), I would be very reluctant to bring my wife there.
I go to Thailand alone and she knows.
Various circumstances allow me a sort of legitimate holiday alone there.
It is under the eyes of anybody, even going in the most legitimate places, what goes on in Thailand with western men (of different ages) walking around with thai girls (generally younger than the 'boy')

So, once she has seen the thai scene, any woman (on principle) will sense what those guys are doing and there for.
And she can easily figure out what her companion can do if left with no lace..:)
Maybe they suspect, maybe they wonder, but seeing is believing!
Then of course it is up to the individual relationship people have with their partners (liberal, trustful, etc)
Lot would not bother, some would not "clearly see", other will think "dirty old single men...but mine is ok!"

Yes there are lots. There are quite a few dedicated LB bars/gogos. There are alos plenty of LB freelancers. Typically they will hang around in zones of walking street and beach road. Some of them are way over the top and easily recognisable others are more feminine (as opposed to cartoon female) and much more difficult to spot. If you suspect the person you are talking to may not be a real girl you can just ask her if you are a real girl or LB. If the answer is "what do you think" it usually means she is a LB. Usually they are rather proud if they can fool you for a while. Most LBs will want to let you know they are what they are before they agree to go back to your room in Pattaya otherwise they will potentially waste 30 mins walking to your room and back. The exception maybe if you are drunk in the early hours of the morning when they may have more malicious intentions.

1 Most Thai girls find even average looking or chubby European girls beautiful as fair skin is valued in Asia and bigger boobs regarded as sexy. The fact that your GF looks a bit Thai is probably a negative - they would prefer Scandinavian blond, but not a big deal.

2 Maybe 75% of the working girls in Pattaya (Gogos / bar beers and freelancers) would be willing to have threesomes especially with either their friends or with western couples (they will be more concerned with other Thai girls that you might select where (is she clean/nice/jealousy may creep in). Been lurking for a while and decided I may as well introduce myself as I'm beggining to get more questions piled up around me. Just on a offhand note, I've enjoyed reading kumbu's posts and I do enjoy the detail he has put into them. I can only hope I would experience some of the things he has one day. Anyways, I'll start off with a short introduction. I'm 19 years old, living in Australia and I've started my first year of uni. Now before you criticize me for my age, please bear with me as I try to explain myself. The secrets of Thailand have been no great mystery to me for many a year. It has always been one of my ambitions to go here, if only just once, for a short time to experience the likes of which I will never see again. *

There is however, a problem I doubt many of you will be familiar with. Pretty much boils down to the rents, though it encompasses more than that which I think some of you will at least have experience with. *

Anyways, I might as well get to the point. Is it possible to visit Pattaya withought those back home knowing of your true intentions? And how would be the best way to do this? After hours of pondering, I've come up with the plan/idea that the best way to do it would be to split the trip up into two weeks, one for mongering and the other for touristy stuff so I can fake my reasons and bring back what my family expect (photos, video footage, trinkets&suviniers etc). This approach would severly dampen my mood as I would not do any mongering on the first week. So I guess what I'm asking here is " Is it possible to monger full time while give the illusion that your holidaying? I would be greatfull if anyone could help me out on that. *

I do have some other worries though, mostly of the nature of. Will coming here fuck up the way I perceive woman and stuff of this nature. I guess I can only really answer this stuff myself. Will I become addicted? I hope not because family would find it suspicious that I would travel there constantly.

A lot of them have the full surgery and most people couldn't tell the difference unless you really know what you're looking for. These are the ones to watch out for because their tactic is to fool all punters, and they will always answer with "yes, i'm a girl" to the question above.
