FYI: I hope this doesn't make things even worse. From DR1. Com news
Gazcue demonstrates against prostitution.
The District Attorney for the National District said yesterday that the office would be taking action against prostitution in the Gazcue sector of the city where residents have been complaining of immoral activities.
Alejandro Moscoso Segarra told Diario Libre that although it was not possible to eliminate prostitution altogether, they would take action to reduce it, especially in response to complaints involving 20 hotels that are in fact brothels.
The Santo Domingo Hotel Association has also complained about this issue. Association president Roberto Henriquez said that they are being besieged by prostitution and that each night they have to turn away between five and eight clients in order to prevent this practice in their properties.
Gazcue residents protested at the District Attorney's office, after a similar event held outside the National District City Hall, where they presented another series of problems that affect the community. Their concerns included dark streets, sidewalks full of garbage, the presence of brothels, public offices and rowdy corner markets that degrade the neighborhood.
The protest was led by Huberto Henriquez and supported by city council members from the PRD, represented by Cesar Cabrera, Waldy Taveras and Consuelo Despradel. The residents of Gazcue accused the city government of not complying with the laws. The group traveled in a bus called "Tours de Protesta de la Comunidad de Gazcue".
Your political analysis is a little one sided
i agree the vice in gazcue is not probably a nuisance to you. but that is because you don't live there. you don't have to deal with finding used condoms in your building parking areas, explaining to your children what the pot bellied gringo with his pants around his ankles was doing with the overdressed woman in the bushes below their window, replacing the fog lights a panhandler stole off your car, or cleaning the smell of [CodeWord109] and beer off your sidewalks. it gets old really quickly when it's not a once in a while vacation blowout.
by the way, one of the hotels described as a brothel in the diario libre piece is the jaguar, the mystik is another.
the hipolito vs. leonel situation is really not as complicated as it may seem. influence peddling and payoffs rule dominican politics. the military controls organized sex work. as in the past, the legitimate complaints of community activists will result in a compromise. you will see limited operating hours, noise restrictions, and the elimination of neon and arm waving touts. at least for a while. the pasteur strip is not likely to go away because there are no more than two or three residential properties left on it and very few are left near it.
one thing you may want to try at the jaragua hotel and casino, when you check in, give the name of your punta cana chica and give the names of two other chicas, choose any female spanish sounding names (if during your stay, you find another chica for a trio, tell her to say her name is one of the names you gave at check in, if they ask for her cedula, it got stolen). when i stayed at the jaragua years ago, i gave the names of three chicas, who i knew would be visiting me. one chica visited me in the afternoon with her sister and we went directly to the pool. after the pool, the chica and her sister took the elevator in the tower section, to the floor where my room was located, security never stopped them.
on a different night at the jaragua, i entered with a chica and i had to stop at the front desk and she had to show her cedula (identification) and the worker checked her name with the names i had given at check in and she was allowed to enter.
when i stayed in the garden section, i tried to enter with three different chicas on different days and the security guy stationed at the entrance to the garden section had a printout with the names of the guests staying there, i had not given any chicas names at check in for that trip and none of the chicas were able to enter.
some hotels have cameras and some security guys are afraid that they are being watched and sometimes reluctant to break the rules for fear of losing their jobs.
there will always be pros in santo domingo. the casas and the chica friendly hotels in gazcue are not a nuisance, some people complaining in gazcue are just trying to score political points, nothing more. some dominicans prefer hipolito mejia solely based on the color of his skin, he is light skin, whereas leonel is moreno. mejia was probably one of the most corrupt and incompetent presidents of the dr. in gazcue, being an old neighborhood, probably has some old timers who probably long for the days of the dictator trujillo and probably can't accept having a president who is moreno and will * and moan, just to make leonel look bad (very similar to the us, where some white folks can't accept having a 1/2 african american as president)
if you can't get into the jaragua with the second chica, you can walk 4 blocks to the hotel navarro and rent a room there for a few hours for around 800 pesos. cabanas are not really close to the jaragua, you would have to pay for a taxi round-trip and lose time getting there. if your punta cana chica has an open mind, visit some casas with her. i have seen women visiting club 305. if your chica wants to do a trio with another chica, you can suggest that she pick out the other chica. girls house on ave. pasteur is not recommended. i know the owner of club 305 and satin dolls, both of whom are nice people, who speak english. lapsus would be the closest place to the jaragua, make a left after exiting the rear gate of the jaragua and lapsus will be on your right within a block or two on avenue independencia. i have not been in lapsus in over 7 years. foxys on the malecon may have some fine chicas and some of the chicas do a strip show there. i have been told foxys' prices are 6 to 8 thousand pesos.
