It didn't take months to develop a rapport; by the 3rd time in 3 weeks it was there. So just walking around, keeping your eyes open, many possibilities for MANY things.

For travel:

1. Highest on the neighbor's list would be Myanmar; unfortunately closed for all practical purposes, at least for me. Fascinating country. Modern Yangon, traditional Mandalay, incredible Bagan (take the boat from Mandalay), Inle lake, the hill stations [S]...[/S] Don't take a bus between Yangon and Mandalay, beautiful 8 lane highway that passes through nothing. Better to take the train. Slow, but like being in a 3D National Geographic travelogue. What I will never forget is how they carry EVERYTHING perched on their heads. Once saw 3 girls with bags on their heads. I figured laundry, MAYBE rice. It was fist sized stones for a temple being built. Haven't been back for 7 years, but people amazingly friendly. Real shame what's happened.

2. Cambodia, particularly Angkor Wat. That is a bucket list item. I've been meaning to go back; my visit was 25 years ago and a number of outlying temples were off-limits due to mines. But believe most have been cleared. Phnom Penh worth a visit for the genocide museum, the art-deco market, the museum, and the river walks. Nothing to be seen at the actual killing fields.

3. Malaysia interesting. Many tourist sites, lived there for a year. Unfortunately, KL's Beach Club closed, was a real Asian [I]smorgasbord[/I][S]...[/S].

4. Laos worth a visit; haven't been back to Vietnam yet.
