Thanks for the excellent report. Sounds like you had no problem exploiting the full potential of Davao. I've dived off of Talicud several times, but I've never explored the place as I've always gotten there on the dive boat from Sasa wharf. I didn't even know there were any resorts in the area, so you added substantially to my knowledge. Maybe I'll go stay there for a week end sometime soon.

I've heard vaguely of the Aquarium, but I have never been there and, until your post, had never met anyone who has been there. Sounds like you narrowly avoided a truly nasty experience. I also hadn't known of the rats in the Apo View. I would have thought that with the renovations going on there, the owners would have expelled the rats at the same time the rooms were being improved. Guess not, and it sounds like a good place to avoid.

Since 2004 I have had several interesting and colorful men in Davao that I could entertain you concernig their unusal exploits. The first of these was "Fat Mike" who, among other mishaps, would lose his cellphone every 2-3 weeks. He was a constant at Ground Zero and could also be found frequently at o'Flanagan's or Hot Legs I. But sadly Fat Mike met a sweet, young lady and got married back in 2006. He has not ventured out since.

The Kid, my erstwhile nephew in NYPD has provided me with more than a few unusaul tales to relate here. However, his mishaps have begun to be an enormous liability to me. So much so that I ceased contact with him before leaving the Philippines this last Trip. I had a very brief phone conversation with him on the evening before I returned home. He mentioned that he was back seeing Rose in Davao City.

This Rose is the younger sister of Elaine whom I was seeing/fucking in Davao in the early part of 2006. I put the Kid in touch with Rose but nothing came of this. Of course nothing appears to ever come of any of the 20 or so ladies The Kid has been introduced to since 2006. Rose is in constant "cyber communication" with a "Cyber Mike" in Maryland. During the five years of their chatting he has made exactly zero (0.00) trips to the Philippines.

The Kid is not easily dissuaded, most likely because he does not do good with women. In any event I have had no contact wiht him in the months since my departure. If he stays true to his travel pattern he would return in May. He would definitely stay at Red Knights Garden as this place is made for guys like him. He has made friends with the regular crowd there and I do not expect to hear from him again (contcting me would cut into his drinking/partying).

Bradley, or as we call him "Brad the Stud" is possibly back in Davao now. If not he will arrive by May. However, Mama Brad has ceased contact with GoodEnough. GE, of course, blames your Dragon Slayer for this. He thinks Brad is angry over my Posts here concerning him, his "farmer john hat" and "mama boy behavior". GE says he is upset with me as he genuinely enjoyed his e-mails from Moma Brad back on the Farm in Texas.

Sorry GE but Slayer calls them as he sees them. I advised him to lose that "hat" the night at henny's when you snuck him onto our dinner table there. As to Mama, why not just give her an e-mail asking how she is doing and if she has baked any cherry pies recently. Should the Slayer come up in the conversation, simply say you do not associate with such hooligans.

In the meantime, we have to await the arrival in Davao of another colorful character. From past experience, I do not think we should be waiting long. One will be on the horizon shortly.

Life is strange the way it deals cards on the table. ! I've posted here 2 times from memory over the last 12 Mths and travelled to Davao 6 times in this short period. I'm a daily reader here in The Slayers Den, both in My country and when in the Phil or Singapore or wherever my work is taking me so its amusing to read all the goings on with everyones adventures.

I think this is the best way so you can plan your attack with out too much hassle. Thanks Daniel for the post. Sounds like you've had some unique Davao experiences, or at least different from those of most of the other guys who post here. Contrary to your statement, I wasn't yawning at all and read it right through. I never thought of Agdao Market as much of a trolling ground, but I guess it proves a point that DS and I have made many times, that it's possible to find "normal" women anywhere here.

There's a relatively new Bo's Coffee Shop next to the Krua Thai restaurant in Damosa Gate shopping center. We went there a couple of weeks ago after have a nice dinner at the restaurant. There were three or four tables of very well dressed, upscale women on their own. I'm pretty sure they weren't pros, and there are better places to look for men, but I got several very direct stares and big smiles and I don't think it would have taken long to have followed up. Of course, I was not alone, and I don't mess around here any more so it was out of the question but for those still on the hunt in Davao, it may offer another, sort of different alternative.

I've never been on any of the dating websites, and I cannot comment on how easy or difficult it may be to hook up via these sources, but I cannot imagine an easier place to find women wherever you go. DS pulls them routinely out of internet cafes, malls, wherever. Other guys have great luck in restaurants and bars like 183, Venue, and others.

Cheers GE for the heads up on that cafe, I will probably check it out while I'm in Davao I've already succesessfully Lined up some new potential GF's in Davao, it took all of 12 hrs from activation of my profile to receive 30 or so Interest's from babes in both Davao, and Cebu, just a little hint too those guys who use these sites, always deactivate your profile if its so available because this increases your chances 10 fold of fresh hits from Babes and if you can't Deactivate just cancel your profile and make a new one later. I never leave it active when I'm not on the hunt for a GF(this means a Regular GF), just some simple advice for me that works well.

I will also not commit to any potential GF when I'm in Davao next, because I like to investigate their lives beforehand! I however, did want to add to what I've already said about the re-opened Blue Room, recently rechristened as Club 10. It's on the first floor level of the Apo View and the entrance is to the right of the lobby entrance as you're facing the hotel.

As I've said before, this is not primarily a pick-up bar, and is frequented primarily by couples or small groups of friends. However, the last couple of times I've been there, I've noticed a couple of seemingly unattached females, one or two of whom were very pretty, and they were probably approachable. The bartender is (my opinion only) a solid 9 and maybe higher. I have no idea if she's available or not, but for any horny unattached fellas out there who plan on coming here, I would advise taking your best shot. I got lots of big smiles from her last week, but then again it was obvious I was with my wife and not about to try to pick her up so it was probably just professional pleasantness. Nonetheless, this one is worth some effort for anyone out there who has some game and isn't afraid of maybe getting shot down.

The bartender aside, this is a really pleasant place to hang out, listen to decent live music, enjoy good booze and sit in comfortable, attractive surroundings. It's a far cry from the average meat market here, and it's a nice change of pace. It's even got two reasonably large smoking areas.

The last set is typically finished before midnight so, even (as is likely) you strike out, there's plenty of time to get over to Bar 183, Venue, or Hot Legs, all of which are less than 10 minutes away.

I do not post much now but here is a short update:

Our "main man", Brad is back in Davao. Yes, GoodEnough had to come online the other night (US West Time) when I was working to inform me that Mama Brad had contacted him. We just got back from Henny's having undergone an hour's frustration listening to people at my favorite garage explain why my car was still not ready though it was promised for today. That's the downside here. No one tells you the truth about anything. Then, when we got to Henny's I was reminded again of the upside. As I've said in these pages before, the Auto Shop, located behind and adjacent to Victoria Mall, is really a collection of smallish outdoor bars on both sides of a sidewalk that runs perpendicular to the street. Parking is a total nightmare, and anyone going there should take a taxi and get dropped off in the street and walk into the place. He said that the selection is varied, plentiful and available. The one night I was there--admittedly about two years ago--it was jammed. Now this guy, like me, is on the far side of 60 and, while decent looking, would not be mistaken for a movie star, yet he has no problem finding and bedding women here. The girls are typically students, or sales clerks or whatever, but are not typically full-time pros. Sounds like a great hunting ground and a larger alternative to Bar 183.

Last night, we joined friends for dinner at Krua Thai, an extremely attractive, and very good Thai restaurant on Torres St. As I think I've said before, it's right next to Bo's Coffee Shop, where we went for an after dinner espresso. As I noted the last time I was there, the place had several tables of well-dressed small groups of women in their twenties. They were not cruising for male attention, but I don't think they would have been averse to it either. I was there early, about 9 PM, and I have no idea what it's like later in the evening.
