Thank you Verde
Nice report. Either that or I want to be a "senior member" and I only need two more posts. It is like the PRIZE at the bottom of a box of sugary cerial. I gotta have it now!
Seriously, nice post.
Yes. And I want to point out that not every man would give them a second chance. But, this was the right thing to do and you were rewarded with their improved service.
You sold me. But is there turn-down service in the evenings?
Thank you. I bet 80% of people in Flamingo were nick of ISG, talked with someone, we are all there, looks like a convention, you will see. Staff simply don't bother. Don't remember in the evening, I've never been there in the evening, actually I don't know. The reason I often give a second chance is because I travel slowly, usually my trip last 40 days at least, then I'm not in a hurry like being there just for one week and have to fullfill sensations for the winter of solitude when I come back home.

Stick to the topic
Hi All. I have found this forum very informative and used this resource in planning accomodation and nights out in PP last year. I will be in PP again this November and cant wait to have a beer at Shanghi Bar, a steak at Rose bar and more importantly, smack some yound firm ass!
Prior to arriving in PP this time I will continue to check this forum for your thoughts and advice. The only reports that I dont bother to read are the ones that refer to the women we enjoy so much as "meat" or engage in socio-political theories that argue that women are inferior etc. I would prefer to hear about good value accomodation, good place for a beer or some food and most importantly, where to meet the fairer sex in PP.
Having said all this it would be hypocritical for me not to share some of my experiences in PP last year.
Sophies: Have to go but be prepared to be molested (not a bad thing!) as soon as you buy a drink at the bar. Easiest way to find it from Flamingos is to head up Street 51 in the opposite direction from the Walkabout and turn right when you get to Cat House Tavern (10 minute stroll) head down that street and 100 metres down, look for a the Sophies sign at the intersection on the far right corner as you enter the intersection. Enter via stairway on the side on the building). The girls at sophies are into anything and the relatively cheap prices and convienience has to be noted
Flamingos: Cant beat the location and rooms range from $20-30 per night. If you walk out of Flamingos turn right on the road and head down over 2-3 intersections, you will find Super Star hotel on the right hand side of the road. Similar (a little bigger and lighter) rooms to Flamingos but at $12 per night is great value although slightly further from the action.
Shanghi: Great place to have a beer and a chat to the girls. Can bar fine the girls for $5 after 10pm or $10 prior to 10pm. Food is ok
Rose Bar: Near the river. Quality of girls is good. Girls behind the bar sometimes wont go out but the girls wandering around (the majority) are fair game:
Walkabout: Graet Loction but quality of girls is not so good
Sharkies: Good fun. Good music and a couple of pool tables with drink speacials every night. Heaps of Freelancers and a good place to negotiate a threesome as the girls here often hang out in pairs. $20 LT is the norm. If you want to take a couple of girls make sure that you ask if they will do "pussy yum yum" if you want to see a really good show prior to getting involved yourself. Only problem is is that if you spend too much time watching the girls getting it on, when you jump in you mighten last that long.
Martini: Huge place a fair way from Flamingos but worth checking out. Lots of girls and if you like dancing there is plenty of room to bust some of your favourite moves
Heart of Darkness: Gets busy after 1am. Heaps of people every night and is the choice PP nightclub of back packers when they manage to drag themselves away from their happy pizza shops and bars around the lake. Drinks are expensive and you have to leave your bags at the door. However, plenty of local girls out having fun and looking for guys like us to buy the drinks, have a chat and take them home (often for free if you some some interest in them and make them laugh)
Anyway, I hope you can pick up a bit of info from this report. I certainly have gained a comprehensive insight into the night life of PP through your reports so thankyou to all of you. Finally, without trying to sound too high and mighty, lets try and treat the women we travel great distances for to have a whole lot of fun with with a little more respect.
Cheers,
Robarts
PS If anyone is going to be in PP in November, let me know if you want to catch up for a few beers and a laugh.
I am thinking of staying at the Asia Palace hotel I was wondering if it is GF, location, and any other information would be great.
Thanks for the help
Asia Palace is GF.
It is on Monivong, with a view of the Central Market.
Asia Hotel is different, but close by on the same street.
Asia Palace was spectacular a few years ago when they just remodeled it, but now it is not as new. Kind of worn. Hotel rooms gets quickly thrashed. But it is still decent. One bedroom suites are expensive (in Cambodian terms), but the balcony view is nice.

Impeial Gardens
The more expensive Hotels would have NGOs in them, as they take a lot of money for themselves from donations, and also they seem to drink at bars on the river front.
Is the Imperial Gardens a nice place to stay and how about the room rates. What is a NGO ?

The Big Luck is also on Monivong. Just wondering does it overlook central market or do I need a long range telescope to see it?
Thanks, SB

Flamingo
I'm just curious as I will be in PP the 1st week of October. I've read many reports of the Flamingo with cell phones, cameras missing, too many people in room while cleaning and people wearing your clothes and not their's (I didn't hear of money missing though). I've never heard of that going on in VN. I've always felt secure leaving my stuff in the room or hotel. So, what is the fascination with this hotel? No reports like that in SR though. I've done my homework and read that the Flamingo has in room safes. Is that true. It it now does now have then I can understand staying there but without I have many doubts. How about the boat that leave the Royal Star Hotel. How long does it take to get from PP to SR? Thank you I WILL stay away from St 63, thanks all. I've learned something from your lesson, don't try and be so damn cheap! Bleached sheets are not bad, just very clean. Having done my homework "Sharkies" has a star next to it and "Heart of Darkness" night club just to hang out and check out the party people of PP. Any other GF Hotels? Looking foward to visiting Ankor what.

Even with telescope you can't see the market from Big Luck.
Long time not been in PP, but I guess it's 2-3 km from Market southwards.
Cheers!

I stayed in Flamingo several times and never had a problem. Just stick to the usual precautions as everywhere and yes they have safes, not sure in room but they had them at the front desk which is sufficient. Good location, airport pick up nice rooms elevator girls and so on for 20 or 25$. You can book online-and no I don't work there and don't stay there either. too much money.

Flamingos does have in room safes and it's main advantage is it's central position and it is pretty quiet around here compared to the riverside.Nowadays it is nearly always full so that has to say something.
104 bar has many lovelies at the moment, sharkies and the walkabou have the same old faces.

Flamingo
Yeah, thanks Prince Harry. I'll be there the first week of October on my way to Angkor what. Looks like a good place to reserve a room once I get my flight confirmation. Is it GF? I know there's flights going there, you know how much from PP to Angkor. I have even heard of a boat that travels up the river. Is it a good way to travel to Angkor and how long does it take to take a slow boat to SR. I don't think the boat will be too expensive but the thought just popped up. I went to their website and the rooms look much better than the reports said. The location looks very good. But still I have to see Angkor.
How about the boat that leave the Royal Star Hotel. How long does it take to get from PP to SR?
The boat is not a good way to go, the road to SR is a good one and the bus made it in about 5 hours my last trip. Take the Mekong Express bus, located on riverfront. Get a moto to take you there 1day before you leave and buy the ticket. These buses are popular so tickets can be soldout if you just show up expecting to get onboard.
Don't take the cheap buses that leave from the Capitol guest house. The Mekong charges more but you get what you pay for and it's still cheap, under $10 sorry I don't remember exact prices even though it's less than 1 year still.
The boat costs over $20 and takes around 7 hours. In this case you don't get what you pay for since it's overpriced and a miserable trip. IMO.

The so call fast boat costs USD25.00 and Mekong Express Bus at USD10 per seat with a little refreshment given.
Both are from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap or vs.
