Been all over Colombia but a newbie to Cali
Hi all, have been reading the thread and would appreciate some advice about Cali. Am going there for a month in November or December, been all over Colombia but never there, and speak good Spanish. I'm interested in some online women from mileroticos.com, visiting decent level clubs and maybe chatting up some regular girls too. See lots that take my interest in the downtown on YouTube walking videos, lots of curves!
I was thinking to stay in San Antonio just west of the downtown as seen a nice place to rent there. Nice area? Safe to walk into the centre from there? Only about 1. 5 Kms. Is there action at places like bar la 20 during the daytime? If so, safe to walk there then if in the downtown?
I've noticed that hardly any of the internet ladies work downtown, they all seem to be south and a few north of the centre, so maybe stay in the south instead? I don't fancy somewhere like El Ingenio though, 13 Kms from the downtown is not for me. Somewhere in between maybe. I'm not interested in the rappi lifestyle, up high in a condo and having chicas visit me.
I'm guessing that late November & December are the busiest and probably least safe time of the year to visit? Judging on my experiences from other cities in Colombia? As around Christmas, people being more desperate for cash etc.
I've looked at plenty of YouTube videos of just daily life in the centre, I don't see many cops or tourists around, but otherwise is it anymore dangerous there during daytime than say downtown Medellin? Also noticed barely any men walking around in shorts, is that frowned upon same as in Medellin and an obvious way to stand out as a tourist?
Is hailing a cab safe there in comparison to Medellin? Or better to get an Uber? I know it depends on the city.
I've heard the weather is a lot more unbearable than it looks from the stats, is that true? Medellin, Pereira etc weather is no problem for me, but I found Barranquilla far too hot (didn't even manage to stray more than a couple of Kms from my hotel), and there was a heatwave last time I was in Santa Marta in spring 2023 and just found it unpleasant. If it's that hot I'm not even that interested in women!
Can somebody please tell me where this area is, with all these bars & nightlife. Safe to go to there alone as a gringo who speaks good Spanish?
