What you wrote might be true for certain local P4P girls, but fortunately, it's not true for all of them. I know at least a few working girls that are relatively honest (actually, according to my own experience, most of them are, but maybe am I lucky and select only the "good" ones?). I mean, those girls wouldn't rob you nor steal you anything, at least directly. I'm not advocating treating the girls like crap, but to put them on a pedestal is ridiculous. Better to keep your guard up and remain a little skeptical.
It is a business relationship. You can have fun when you conduct business too.
Respect is earned. If she earns it, she gets it. If not, then she doesn't. But she is the one who has to concede first, because I am the one with the money. No special treatment until she earns it. No favors until she earns it. Rewards for good service/behavior etc.

While I am nowadays more often in Northeastern Thailand, I've been frequently in Pattaya (and also in other parts of the Land of Smiles) since 1999. IMHO, my remarks are valid there too.
I must add that I've always favored "encounters" with freelancers and maybe those girls are probably less often of the "mercenary" type than go-go and bar girls?
