But I am not buying a 5 to 1 as it would relate to the DR, they have a long way to go for that to occur if ever. Big government intervention into family and male / female affairs under the guise of "Helping", has destroyed family life, poisoned male female relations, and has made the prospect for peaceful domestic life nearly impossible in the US. Why do think there are so many mongers?

Look at the explosion of broken black families since these policies where introduced. And now affecting the rest of the population?

The resulting social dysfunction and its costs in social services, criminal justice, etc?

Angry unhappy indoctrinated feminazi women who are lonelier than ever and failing to marry and have children more than ever?

The massive bureacracy needed to manage all this supported by tax payer dollars. Money generated from productive activity to go to unproductive case workers, judges, attorneys, court officers?

Call this what you want, but it is not bigoted. It is the truth. The government has little or no place regulating family affairs nor male / female relations. Humanity did quite fine without it until about 40-50 years ago.

[/QUOTE]I don't have any facts but at least for Canadians most families / couples will go to DR on all inclusive pkgs which will cost less than C$1000 per person for the whole week (more like C$700-C$800). I can't see how that would be 5 to 7 times what a monger spends if you factor in those who rent cars, etc.

And you are correct that his policies did more harm than good in the African American Community. I find the conservative perspective bigoted and selfish. Capitalism worked in US because we had more resources then every body else. Our standard of living did not take off until socialistic policies were implemented in the 30s FDR.

The Great depression was capitalism falling flat on its ass. We have had a hybrid system every since.

Unions and civil rights proponents forced the capitalist to pony up. Prior to that capitalism produced and supported sweat shops, child labor and slavery. Conservatives seem not to know much about history. Without medicare, social security and unemployment our country would be a third world nation. Many western european coiuntries have higher standards of living then we do. I meant a cab driver from england the last time I was in a AI. He could afford a 2 week vacation in the DR. CAB driver here might get a weekend at a local beech. I was born and bred in the USA but I do not drink the Kool aid. DR would be poor no matter what form of goverment they had. Look at China now. They are rolling with their hybrid communist system. The second largest economy in the world and growing. I think their system would work much better in the DR. The DR is the other side of capitlism. Venezuella and Cuba have long traditions of having lousy goverments the regular folk have always had terrible times. They are in my opinion as well off as they have been historically. A few rich folk did very well majority starved. Cuba pre castro was allied with the American mafia. Standard of living in western Europe socialist countries is better then in the good old US. They have healthcare and frew education way more vacation. In most The US is 17th in the world for standard of living. That companies prefer not to pay decent wages and benefits is nothing to be proud of or that CEO pay is going through the roof. Yes it cost more to pay decent wage.
