I had no problem sleeping at night as there was not that much noise at all. I like a smoke free room and it took me three tries to find a room that did not have smell of smoke. I used to do some sight seeing during the day and mongering at night. I was able to get enough pussy at street 51 as there are many bars and clubs too there that I did not have time to venture to riverside. You can do both as they are not far from each other.

It has changed it's name (and management presumably) to LyLy hotel I believe. Can't comment on anything else because I've never stayed there.

It's the same ownership and they even use the same reception area, for both Circuit Hotel and NaNa Hotel! Maybe a combined hotel now. Price is low and rooms are OK, not too small and location is good for street 51. There are places with bigger and better rooms on Street 51 around the same price.

Circuit was OK with a good breakfast and tight but friendly security. If you had a room at the end of the corridor, the almost private balcony was all yours. Last time after the merge I inquired for a room, but not so friendly and helpful staff at the Nana, so I walked away and got a great room opposite Walkabout in the PC hotel.

not much in the way of info on this thread in ages. i've lived here for a little while, know the city pretty well, can speak the language. this is what i have.

hostess bars:

street 172. a tourist area with a few bars. the only ones worth visiting in my opinion are gladiator (which is a mainstream restaurant by day) and 172 bar, which has a number of cute girls working.

street 136. the two blocks closest to the riverside house a number of bars. the biggest concentration is on the north side of 136 nearest the riverside. the best bars in my opinion (ratio of best looking women to the percent that will actually go out with customers) are oasis, lemon, and sizzlers. the worst bars are dream bar, sexy girl, singer and candy (the last two are haunted by ladybodys). this street also has a lot of 'legitimate businesses' and you will encounter numerous 'regular tourists. '

street 130. this street gets less attention but the second and third blocks from the riverside house a number of bars. the best bars are pon lieu lin (now operating under a new name that i can't remember – half way down the block on the north side, the next bar after you pass loco bar on the right) , japanese school-uniform moepara (now reopened) and barbados. the worst are golden bear, hooters (now under some new name, i forgot what) .136 and that one next to the noodle house that's always filled with african guys. loco is a new bar with a large staff, most of who are decent in looks. there are few stunners and quite a few only work for drinks. a nice place to have a drink but i've never seen anything i'd want to take out of there.

street 118. this street has more tourist oriented stuff than bars, but there are a few. island bar has about 30 girls working, all of whom are keen to go out for short time. if you show up a little later in the night your pickings will be slim. dream bar has a decent number of women on staff, but most don't look too great, kind of like the bar itself. nice friends bar is almost dead. you might fight two women in here if you're lucky.

street 110. this street has a nice concentration of bars in a one block space next to old market (phsar chas). it doesn't get a lot of attention from tourists, but expats can be found quite often. lips bar is the newest additional and it has a mix of beautiful young women and haggard old gals. the problem is that the old birds are the only ones who go out with customers. zanzi pub is the new bar, large with a big glass front. some decent looking girls here, they make themselves look better with makeup and hair. possible to get their phone number for later, but no barfine. city bar has a lot of vietnamese girls, most will go with customers. pretty woman has a large number of women, all will go out. happy man, starlight and ben's have small staffs. most of the women will go out, but don't expect anything to write home about.

street 108. the section of the street that would interest people here is a little out of the way and holds three bars. it can be worth a visit depending on the time. the bars here are golden vine (mostly mediocre girls, but a lot of mileage possible in the bar and most will go with customers) , voodoo (an average bar with some pretty girls, some of whom won't go out) and enigma which has a mix of girls, most of whom will go out. if you're looking for a guaranteed shot at a lady you should be able to find something here. secrets cafe now opened too (supposedly 24 hours) , but i haven't been in yet.

street 104. this is a small street between the riverside and post office. it's dead during the day, but comes alive at around 6 pm. there are over a dozen bars here, and you can easily walk from one to the other. the best bars here are zanzibar, colonial, top ten, airforce and big mama's. at least three of those have bar-top dancing on a regular basis. the worst bars are 104 bar (smells like someone shit on the floor) , bunny bar (worn down bar with poor looking staff) , oscars (dirty with a poor selection) and smile girl (super hustler girls).

street 51. this street has a few bars up and down from sorya mall, but to be quite honest, most of them are staffed by an assortment of uninterested slappers that i wouldn't fool around with for free. plan b has a few decent girls and they nearly all go out. t-pub next door occasionally has a few too, but most of them work for drinks only. black cat is a dump that's open 24 hours with a mix of hardened passable women and some real dogs. most will go out with customers but there are a few virgins there who won't. shanghai on the corner has a mix of cute younger women and decent old women, but there is no bar fine system. you'd have to convince a woman working there to meet you outside for a date some other time if you were interested. i'm not. the new oscar bar is okay, or at least better than the old one on 104.

around town. there are other hostess bars rep001tered around phnom penh.

there's a bar just south of candy bar on street 5. i forget the name but it's small with a tiny staff. still they're keen to go home with you.

the cat house at the corner of 118 and 51 is an unassuming place with a number of good looking women (and some average) inside. the good thing is that they wear semi-sexy uniforms which vary depending on the day of the week, and the place serves good food. the bad thing is the place is a lot like shanghai in that there is no barfine. you'd have to convince a woman working there to meet you outside for a date if you were interested. this can be done, and money doesn't necessarily have to change hands, in my experience.

dv8 is a nice little bar near the riverside on street 148. some really beautiful girls work here, and quite a few are 19 or 20 years old, but only about half will go out with customers. the early-30's manager with big jugs who wears tight dresses without a bra many nights is a nice touch too.

domino bar on street 5 is a true dump. an old worn out bar with a bunch of ladyboys and disinterested washed up old birds inside. there are occasionally one or two decent women working here, but it's too much work to fish them out.

zambezi around the corner from cyrcee on street * is a malaysian owned bar that gets little traffic. a small mix of girls, never saw any stars. most are keen to go out with customers.

nay nay star bar is on street 102 is a hotel, bar and restaurant. it's open 24 hours and has rooms right up stairs. any time between 1 pm and midnight there will be a number of women here looking for some company. beware of a few sharks who will try to milk you for every lady drink they can get.

cyrcee on street 49 should be known well enough by now. short time available with everyone on staff, which means about 30 women on a good night. a few lookers, but more and more are on the poor side of the beauty scale nowadays. easy action with a few guest houses within walking distance.

white love – a japanese hostess bar with a really nice interior and good customer service. about 25 khmer girls are joined by a few vietnamese, two filipinas and even a japanese woman in her 30's. plenty of beautiful women here. mostly japanese customers but i've been welcomed warmly. girls will sit with you and drink and normally, but every 15 or 20 minutes the boss orders a rotation. if you want a particular girl to keep sitting with you, you have to pay a nomination fee of 10. karaoke available at the bar or in the rooms upstairs. they throw a 5 percent service charge on the bill at the end of your visit for good measure. no bar fine system, but you can negotiate outside action directly with some of the girls.

mao's club – a mao tse tung themed bar on the riverside near 104. started as a large place but couldn't pay the bills. large staff and a pool table in the back. some girls will go out, others will want you to visit numerous times, spend a lot of money and still might not. some real stunners here mixed in with the average.

standard rates for hostess bar girls are 30 short time or 40-50 long time. easiest way to do it is not mention payment in advance and simply discreetly place it near her on the way out. note that some will ask for a lot more than this.

freelancers:

martini – night time operation. most motos and tuk tuks will know it, some still don't. it's a bit far from everything else on this list. it's a sort of super complex – a walled in venue with a beer garden, bar, disco, etc. it's pretty dumpy looking but a number of freelancers haunt it. most are vietnamese, some are khmer. don't expect any stunners, but more than half are acceptable. action is easily negotiated and takes place in a nearby guest house.

walk about – a sort of open air dive bar that has women most any time of the day, with the largest concentration at about 8 pm. not the choice selection by any means. plenty of places around for the action to take place if you're keen.

sorya mall – street 51 across from the aforementioned bars. a failed strip mall filled with various bars that will also fail in due time. hanging out here will put you in eye shot of a few freelancers. few to no stars, but many are acceptable. don't expect a huge army of women, sometimes numbers are quite limited. fair number of ladyboys appearing nowadays too.

sharky's bar – on street 130 a few blocks from the riverside. a large bar with live music and pool. some freelancers work here. don't expect much in looks, but occasionally a star will wander in.

darlin darlin – a live music bar attached to the naga world casino. with the construction going on now you have to pass the casino and keep going toward koh pich. just before you cross the bridge you'll see the sign for the place on the wall. this place sees a lot of asian high rollers. average to beautiful women ply their trade here, but most want a good amount of money. you can also find freelancers inside naga world at times, which is usual for almost any casino in the world.

clubs like pontoon and heart of darkness, and the after hours bar g-pub (all in or around sorya mall) will have some freelancers, but don't mistake all women there as workers. most are not and can get quite offended of being offered money out of nowhere. hit or miss, in my opinion not worth dealing with the drunken idiots and pounding music when so many other options exist.

freelancers should be 15 – 25 short time depending on your negotiation skills.

massage:

most khmer guys and long term expats focus on massage places, which are easy in easy out, with no hassles or game playing. most of the massage parlors on street 63 have been shut down. some had beautiful women offering full service and were quite cheap (as low as $5) , but many also had guys with sticky fingers working them.

soul massage / ktv is a gigantic building on the southern end of sothearos before it turns to cross norodom and turn into mao tse tung. this is not a massage parlor but a full complex with a parking garage, elevator, fountains and more. head to the top floor in the elevator for the massage. there you'll find a large fishbowl filled with khmer women. they don't dress all that well but some are absolute stunners with bodies to match their beautiful faces. it's tough trying to point out the one you want since they don't wear numbers, but there are worse problems to have. it's $6 for the massage, payable to the old lady at the desk, then you go to the large hotel style rooms. the women start out with ridiculous prices of up to 100 and usually won't budge much. they aren't great performers either. but man the looks of some of them make it all okay in my book. multi-girl action is even possible, but don't expect any interaction. the other floors of the place have karaoke rooms, and customers can negotiate action with the women that work them too. needless to say the well done up ones wearing prom dresses are super expensive. chinese and korean businessmen love this place.

panda massage on street 240 south of sorya mall is good for basic extras, but some ask for ridiculous amounts. no real beauties either.

sokun's place on the riverside near the night market has better looking women and basic extras but they also ask for more than you might expect, and action is done in a room with other beds separated only by curtains.

the dozen or more massage shops on sothearos south of sihanouk are hit or miss. if you go at night and get an oil massage from a single lady you have a good shot at being offered a handy. if you go for a four handed massage the women may act like they would never do it, saving in face in front of friends. asking prices start as high as 25 nowadays, but can easily be negotiated down.

if you drive around that same area of sothearos at night you will be summoned by numerous pimps who sit or stand outside on the side of the road. their mode of operations is to get customers into one of those guest houses. they then offer a girl for 30 or more. that can be negotiated down to 20. they will then bring a girl which the customer can accept or reject and ask for another. not rip off joints, but sometimes the women are quite unattractive. the women never ask for tips but the pimps, guest house guys and even parking attendants are good at hounding for tips.

there are four fishbowls that i know of in phnom penh, all of which have large and mostly attractive staffs who ply their services for very reasonable rates (20-40). since two others that were really good have been shut down in recent times, i'm not going to broadcast the locations publicly. members with solid posting records are free to contact me via pm.

the 'mainstream' places around the city used to be almost sure shots to get a handy for a few bucks, but that seems to becoming less and less the case. i know a few places where it still happens, but it ain't what it used to be with almost every massage ending with an inquiry into whether i wanted a little more. maybe stupid tourists are now tipping so much for regular massages that they no longer need to through the long stroke into their repertoire. who knows? any info on cheap jack shacks open during the day are appreciated.

the city is littered with 10000 riel massage places. anyone who travel around will see dozens. some offer extras, some don't. the ones on the riverside heading toward the japanese bridge and some toward the end of sothearos usually offer extras along with traditional massage, cupping and that weird coin rubbing they do. these are real dumps and the beds are only separated by thin pieces of wood, if that. one place i visited the girls slept and massaged in the same room. locals pay $3 for a massage with hand finish. foreigners can be asked for as much as 30 for basic extras if they don't negotiate hard in advance which can be a real pain. they usually don't have any oil either, so it's dry or with generic tiger balm (ouch!).

cambodian ktvs:

probably 100 around phnom penh. easy place to get some action if you can speak the language. usually a better looking selection that what you see in the foreigner-oriented bars. not much money to get a room with some girls, a case of beer and some food. if the girl likes you they can go out with you or meet you later. some want money, others don't. mostly locals, but i've had no problem accessing any of these places and i've seen plenty of koreans in them too.

restaurants:

i've seen these places mentioned here on the forum as 'beer gardens' but no khmer will know what you are talking about if you say that. they refer to these as restaurants, same as a place you'd get food. easy to find, these are basically places with lots of seating that serve alcohol and have dancing and usually some kind of live music. there are plenty of women on stand by to sit with you. usually you would have one sit with you, but you can have more if you want. they will share your pitcher of beer and talk to you. if they like you enough you can negotiate time with them outside. can be very inexpensive. i've sat in these places for hours with two girls, thrown back beer after beer, eating food, and still paid less than 20 bucks, including tip. girls that go home with you will be happy with 20. they are all over town, but i've been to five pretty regularly. no problem giving locations to posters who pm me, though i won't broadcast here on the forum.

street walkers:

the bottom of the barrel in phnom penh. the main places are around w at phnom and streets 104 and 108 (freedom park). most have problems which could be drugs, pimps, or anything else. don't expect much and quite possible to have your pockets cleaned out at any time during the 'date. ' going rate is 5 dollars or less, plus whatever the guest house costs.

still seeking info:

i've been here for a while and have plenty of local friends and contacts, but i'm still looking for info on a few things. the vietnamese ktvs around phsar chas and kandal for one. i know they have girls but i don't know how the system works. i've been in some but that was with family parties. apparently they are duel purpose. also the barbershops with super sexy women working. i know extras are available to be negotiated in at least some of these places, but haven't found which ones or the method of action. would love some help.

Almost half of the places on Sothearos offered no extras. All the massages were pretty good though. Those were usually the better looking shops with the better looking women. The others usually offered handy but started quoting as high as 25 even though I speak Khmer. It's usually possible to get it down to 10, but never any lower than that, even when I said "never mind then no extra massage."

So it can be as much as 28 or 33 for a regular massage with a handy. That's not much off the massage and full service you can get from the fishbowls. The only time its worth it to me is if they can do some really mind blowing hand work. There's one girl at Panda who can. Some others I know are pretty good, but nothing out of this world. Also some real mechanical jackers about. I've never been offered BBBJ at these places either.

The best real massage I had was at the huge "East Massage" complex (not the one in BKK1, the other) , which has mainland Chinese girls who don't speak a lick of the local language. It surely looks like a place you could get some extras, but in my experience sadly it isn't.

The cheap 10000 riel massage places on Sothearos are also hit or miss. I've been offered extras in some but not at all in others. Sometimes it was totally impossible as I was massaged in a room full of Khmer girls!

Would love any advice, public or via PM, on where to get a cheap rub and tug. I used to have some places that did that or BBBJ and it was no more than $10-12 all in. Sadly they are gone and I'm now without such easy action.

Girls are friendly and don't hassle you for ladydrinks, numbers vary as with most bars, as girls come and go. I've taken a couple of girls out from there and had a lot of fun. I think the previous poster meant that there are two or three girls there working just for ladydrinks and not taking salary. They will definitely go out with you!

The 'african customer' bar across the road from Loco has re-opened as Blue Bird Bar and seems to have just a few skinny looking girls working there. It still has a few Nigerian customers, though their bar of choice is now Sugar Bar in St 144.

Bon Lieu Lin is now called Caramel Bar. Same girls, same slightly faded decor and same average music.

Hooters is now called MMe Bar. Strange name. I think the Khmer owner was trying to spell 'Amy'! Tiny bar but with a friendly bunch of girls.

I stayed there for a week, just after the opening a year or so ago. A large room towards the street. The room was great, but I remember the ac being a bit slow. Great service and friendly staff. Short walk or motoride to many bars etc. Girl friendly too.
