Therefore a man with a decent job in Jakarta can pretty much have his pick of eligible young women to marry and bring home to Mummy. This leaves a huge heap of nice women in their twenties and early thirties, well educated and earning a reasonable wage but who might have been around the block a couple of times feeling a little bit left on the shelf.

These are the woman who any man who (a) knows how to dress (yes guys it is important, trust me no amount of inherent bule charm is going to overcome the sight of you in shorts and a Bintang singlet and flip flops in the centre of Jakarta on a weekday afternoon, would it kill ya to put on a pair of trousers and an ironed shirt?) , (b) can hold a reasonable conversation (limited BI helps but isn't necessarily essential and by conversation I usually mean listening and tut-tutting at appropriate points when she tells you her problems. Money and men basically. The problems are always the same) , (c) doesn't feel the need to email pictures of his cock to every woman he meets (why bother? She'll be getting a look at the real thing soon enough if you take it easy) and (d) is prepared to act like a half way normal, likable guy, should be scoring with at every opportunity. Starbucks and cafes attached to large office buildings in central Jakarta are target rich environments just be prepared to put your hand in your pocket for meals, drinks and taxi fares.

Think of it this way, you're a nice looking young woman, you're not a virgin and you like sex but you've broken up with a couple of guys along the way, your job's not bad but not really going anywhere, you live in a room in a boarding house or worse with your overbearing family in Bekasi. Meeting a nice enough bloke who will take you out for dinner to nice restaurants, nothing fancy but places you don't often visit, go to clubs with and allow you to let your hair down now and again, well it doesn't sound like such a bad deal. If a relationship develops great but if not you're no worse off. It's a win win situation.

The only problem for guys thinking about this is the risk of getting hooked. Simple really, do what I do; tell them you're married from the start, you might lose fifty percent of your options (worst case scenario) but that still leaves a hell of a lot of uncomplicated, no strings fun out there to enjoy.

Have to say that Travel Hotel in Manga Bessar VIII is way overrated here. I did not find any cewek to my liking. Although the mamasans are less pushy at Travel, the quality and quantity is way below what I saw at Hotel Classic in Pasar Baru, where I came across at least 10-15 stunners out of the hundred or so. Maybe it was becase I went just before closing time?

Have to agree though with what some others said here about freebie potential.
