For those guys who are interested in #208 at Heting. She's not working there anymore.
This is a new taxi scam for me. Outside Manhattan at 2 a.m. I see one of those green and white cars they brought out for Expo. You can usually trust them so I grabbed it. The driver knew where I wanted to go and put on the meter. I wasn't drunk but I still relaxed. Always a mistake with late night taxies.
When we got near my street he started talking like he didn't know where to go. This is where they might just step on the gas to add another kilometer to the fare. I told him where to pull over though. He stopped but left the meter running. The fare was 22 rmb. I gave him 25 but he is gesturing like he has no change. I pointed to the meter which was now at 23. He said ok give hime 22, knowing that I only have a five for the 2 rmb. He wasn't threatening just acting stupid and obviously lying. I didn't know what to do so I gave him the 5 making it 25 for a 22 rmb fare. I forgot to get the receipt or I could call the taxi company and complain. He would get in trouble.
I try to always have 1rmb coins to make exact change with taxies at night and I never tip a taxi driver.

Holy shit, that taxi driver is surely a financial artist. Should have taken down his name to see if in a couple of years he is going to be in the Forbes Top 100. Maybe he is soon going to be public transport tycoon. Are you earning 1rmb an hour to be so greedy? The point is that he is driving around routinely robbing people, Chinese and foreign. Also they can often be threatening. I once had to elbo my way out of a red taxi when the driver tried to charge me 70 rmb for a 25 rmb trip to Zapatas. His choice was open the door or I smash it.
While some taxi drivers are really great the bad ones ruin it for everyone.

Taxi fare was 7rmb, but I always gave 10, couldn't be bothered with coins in my pocket. At the apartment, my daughter realised she'd left her bag in the taxi with seven thousand euros cash in it! Back to the same restaurant, found the same taxi parked and empty, bag still inside! Driver had returned to his usual pitch, then gone for a 3rmb bowl of noodles. Luck it was a beat up old Jetta, I could recognise it! I still don't worry about odd coins! And have never been cheated or scammed by a taxi driver in NJ, or SH. Of course I religiously use only official taxis.

Yes a shame indeed. I had planned to go see her but I was a little too late. By the way, does anyone have another recommendation for Heting? Been RTTF but couldn't find any specific recommendations. Ended up going back to the good old reliable #827 at SiYuan. Damn those tits are to die for!
