Majestic Grande - walk of shame
Crypton,
FYI-
Majestic Grande does have a walk of shame. From the front lobby entrance to the elevator, it is a good 30+ feet. You have to walk past the guests sitting in the lobby and the Reception desk.
After 9 pm, they have Security (professional looking in a suit) sitting at a desk near the lobby entrance. Security will check and keep the ID of the girl. When she leaves, they will call you in the Room before giving her ID back.
Thanks Nixon. I did find out both are GF. I have narrowed the hotels down to Four Points Sheraton or Grand Majestic (on Soi 2). If anyone is familiar with both of them, I would appreciate your advice!
Marriott Soi 57 and Citi Card
GCP21 was my go to property in Bangkok, but it's now tied with the Marriott on soi 57. I previously posted about it, but here is some more information. First is GF of course, and lots of traffic so no one would notice anyway. Pool is nice, but is more east facing so better in mornings than afternoons. However there is a bar unlike GCP so you can get a drink, but it is pricey. Rooms are nice and service is great. On site food options good as well and you get 20% off coupons for them so makes it more reasonable. It's location though is my primary reason for my rating though. Thong lo and ekkami have so much going on with new bars and restaurants. Spend a half hour on http://bk.asia-city.com/ and you will see what I mean. Also right on suk outside the hotel are 3 great noodle shops, a thai chinese place, and a street seafood place all which smell terrific every time I walk by. It's only 2 blocks from BTS and since it avoid the asoke and phrom phong intersections its easier to get everywhere including the airport.
Downsides: definitly not walking to cowboy or nana, is international brand so no food is cheap or even thai reasonable (from experience any international brand has overpriced room service), rooms not that big.
Upsides: rooftop bar is terrific, executive apts are nice amount of space, location to more local places, new and modern, marriott points, great staff, local laundry and food close, sky and tulip walking distance.
BTW, I got the Citi Prestige card last year and despite its 450 fee it's come in really handy. You get 250 back in airfare credit, so really its only 200, and if you are US citizen it will also pay your $100 global entry application fee. The other 2 notable benefits are the priority pass lounge access which came in handy in both HKG and BKK last trip, they aren't as nice as the business or first lounges, but some free food and drink and a more comfortable place to rest during layovers or preflight is always more relaxing. Last the 4th night free on hotels can be quite valuable. The booking is annoying since you have to call and talk to a travel agent, but doing my research ahead of time I gave them 3 properties and dates and they came back to me with prices. A bit more expensive than internet booking, but if you are staying 4 nights, 8,12, ect. That 4th free more than makes up for it. Anyway, thought was worth sharing. If you are interested milevalue.com is my go to for more information, and if you go through their website they get credit which seems more than fair for the good analysis they do.
Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok
I made a post earlier saying the JW Marriott, but I meant Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok any info from this hotel. BTW I'm getting a great rate $51.00 a night.
