Mostly I used a combination of Facebook (Khmer account with 300+ random Khmer friends to build trust) and messaging apps Messenger, Line, Viber, WeChat to follow up and take things further. Also did a bit of browsing on Badoo and Tinder, but less successful. I recommend getting a Smart simcard for phonecalls because most girls have a daily free 30-minutes call time to spend, and they might do so talking with you.

Alright folks. Just looking for a yes or no here. The old Paris Hotel Fishbowl Massage which was relocated to somewhere I will not say, does anyone know if it's still in operation? I know Soul has one, that's no secret, but the Paris Hotel one was very good as was its successor so I'm hoping it's still open. Yang Mey massage on street 252 near street 63 is ok. About 30-40 girls mid-afternoon, including about 6 Vietnamese.

$6 for the 'massage' and around $30-35 for full service.

No real stunners but some nice cute girls.

The entrance is next to a Khmer club on the north side of the street.

The selection was numerous spoiled fish but worth a look. Picked a girl named Lin 23/ pretty but her massage was horrible. Talked about extras but she said no yum yum and boom boom five zero dollars. I politely declined finished our session and tipped two dollars. She was shocked butI refuse to pay too much for substandard service. YRMV.

Hehe. I don't think anyone going here actually expects a massage. None of the girls are trained and in fact if you ask them if they can do a massage they generally laugh and say no.

It's common for Khmer girls to refuse to do blow jobs, a lot of them don't like it at all.

As for the price, most girls will quote high, expecting to be negotiated down. All the ones I've taken there have started at $50, and then come down to $30-35.

Sure you can get cheaper elsewhere, but places like Yang Mey provide a easy descreet way to choose a girl and get a bang in a reasonable environment.

Some new bars have appeared in this developing street just next to the more familiar Street 136.

The humorously named Angry Birds Bar has opened recently opposite Fire Bar and has a good mix of experienced girls and more shy but cute newcomers. Like the well established Loco Bar just down the street, Angry Birds doesn't play deafeningly loud hip hop music, and the girls don't pester you to buy them drinks like they do in too many other bars. Good atmosphere, worth a visit.

Simply The Best Bar has also just opened next to the mini-mart. Some enthusiastic girls, smart interior, amazing toilets, and a welcoming Khmer female owner. Also worth a visit.

Lotus Girls Bar opened last month and has some ok girls in a tiny bar. Standard bar music and a relaxed atmosphere.

Loco, Fire Bar and Barbados are the best of the existing bars in the street, Angry Birds the best new bar.

There are also Caramel Bar, 136 Bar, Golden Bear and Bluebird Bar. 136, Barbados and Fire Bar have live music on a few nights each week.

I have visited PP yearly for some years. And each time noticed how the p4p scene has gone downhill. Still there has been enough reason to go again (staying in neighboring countries anyway). Not so anymore, Cambodia is now off my list of countries to visit.

I checked out the hostess bars in the riverfront yesterday night. "Boring" is the best description I can give. Of course, I know there are other options such as clubs / freelancers and so, but reports from others tells me that those are neither not so good anymore. (I haven't investigated these myself.) Then there are "massage" places such as YangMey, and ST-bars such as Cyrcee. Those two I found to be the best last year, and probably they still are.

The hostess bars are nearby the riverfront on streets 102,104,110,118,130,136. (Also 144,172 but I haven't been to those two streets myself.) In summary the prices have gone up while the service and the looks of the women have gone down. Not very different than for other countries, just more so for Cambodia. An example: at one bar I was quoted 50 for st! And that for a mediocre girl (6). It should be max 20 and 40 for st and lt respectively (+barfine of 10 and LD of 3. 50). In these cases I don't even bother to negotiate.

Elsewhere I didn't ask about prices. Why? When you approach a bar there are some pretty girls outside, they follow you in and then go outside again: "Bait and switch". Those inside are either not pretty or do not barfine. Or all of them are occupied because one customer have bought LDs for five girls. (A common issue in small bars anywhere if you go there more than one hour after they open.) Very annoying, if you're one of those practising this: stop it!

So what are the services then? What do these bars offer? You pay for LD's, but the girls don't know enough English to conversate even on the most basic of topics. "You buy one for me too?" is the single line you'll hear the most. And the possibilities for groping are limited too. Sorry about being negative here, and maybe I shouldn't be surprised. This evening I will start earlier and give it another chance.

I first came to work in Phnom Penh twelve years ago when the Riverside would be deserted by 10 pm apart from DV8 and Mikey's Bar (now Paddy Rice) where you would often find me sitting outside and enjoying the company of a number of girls who became friends. When it was time for me to go often one of them would suggest that she accompany me back to my hotel, money was rarely discussed and I would just leave a tip next to the bed when I left for work. Apart from Sharkys and Martini which attracted a more transient customer most small bars had a regular expat customer base who were friendly and respected the girls which often paid dividends. In one of my favorite bars where I had been trying to pull the manageress for ages without any luck she would always introduce me to new girls on the scene and assure them that I was a kind safe guy and they shouldn't worry about going with me.

The change started with the explosion in tourism and a lot of people especially foreigners decided to open bars which of course attracted more girls however although the increase in the number of bars reflected the increased tourism it failed to recognise that a significant number of the new tourists would not be the ones that would form their customer base. This of course led to more competition and a reduction in how much the average girl could earn. At the same time the increase in Asian male tourists especially from Singapore, Korea and Japan who would regularly pay large sums for girls and also leave large tips (a friend of mine was given $100 just for sitting with a customer) led the most girls to try and achieve what some of their friends told them they were making.

Most bars now have a lot of girls who say that they will not go with customers however this is not quite true I know a number of girls who will only go with customers they know and like, its not necessary to throw your money around just become a regular and be happy to chat, buy the odd lady drinks especially when your girl points out a friend who could do with some money and show respect to the girls and you won't be disappointed.

I often see on this site comments on the age of some of the girls but in my experience the older girls often give a more exciting and rewarding experience.

[/QUOTE]2009 was the year Classic Phnom Penh died. Up to and including 2009, a punter could take any girl from any bar (except Shanghai) and shag her as many times as he liked for $20 or less. Things never got back to normal after the raids. I was last in PP in March 2014. I checked out a lot of riverside hostess bars. In the better bars there was always one or two hot hostess girls, but they were 95% BMD girls and they would not leave the bar with me. They kept offering their plainer less attractive friends for the bar fine. I was not interested in shagging plain girls and I am being kind using the word "plain" to describe them. So while it was true that say 80% of the hostess girls would barfine, it meant nothing to me since I was only interested in shagging the one or two attractive ones that wouldn't barfine.

I spent a lot of time in Oasis bar on account of one particular little hottie I really liked. In the bar she was EXTREMELY friendly, if you know what I mean (LOL), but this little rainmaker would not leave the bar with me. I would always say goodbye to her around 11:30 and head off to Darling Darling where I found the quality I desired without any of the BS. Of course I had to pay up for it. Over the course of the week I spent in PP, I became very friendly with my little Oasis hottie. On my last night in town she told me she would barfine me when I came back to Phnom. 555. I am not holding my breath, but it will be interesting to see if she keeps her word. I have a lot of pent up desire for this girl.

On the Darling Darling FL scene: I have taken some heat from some here on the forum over the prices I paid. I am just reporting on the current scene. Don't get mad at the messenger. The fact is Phnom Penh is growing up and becoming more like other Asian cities like BKK, Manila, and Jakarta. Darling Darling is following a business plan that resembles Brix, Bats, CJ's, and Spasso. They are very successful. The bar is packed every night with well heeled Asian tourists, businessmen, gamblers, and connected locals. On some nights it was hard to find a seat in the bar. I saw some scenes that might disturb some of you guys like Asian punters at a large table surrounded by up to 8 to 10 beautiful Khmer chicks and bottles of whisky.

So Darling Darling is targeting the new affluent segment of Phnom Penh red light society. This bar and its business plan is not going away. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see more bars like this one sprout up. What I liked about Darling Darling was the number and quality of the girls and their no fucking around attitude. No girl was on her "mens" here. Yes, the price was high especially, if compared to the old Phnom Penh or the hostess bars. And yes, some Darling Darling girls will migrate over to Pontoon after 2:30 am or so. If one is willing to delay gratification until then and accept the luck of the draw, the price will be much less at Pontoon. Also two of my three Darling Darling girls morphed from ST to LT at no additional charge after our first night's sessions together. So these are still very nice girls IMHO and once they get to know you, they are much more accommodating.

Lastly, it should be noted, that Phnom Penh is still golden for ex-pats living here. For regulars, there is virtually no hostess girl that will not shag them unless the dude suffers from a personality disorder or something. The girls (hostess girls, Darling Darling girls, Pontoon girls, Golden Sorya girls) will constantly call and drop by their apartments at all hours of the day and night. Ex-pats do not pay barfines except in rare situations and the rates the girls offer them are ridiculously low regardless of where the girl works.

So this is the scene as I found it in March 2014. There is no use crying over spilled milk. The good old days are not returning. Phnom is still a lot of fun and Khmer girls are still very nice to spend time with. They possess unique personalities and can be quite fetching. I will be back for a short visit in 2015.

And it's one of the reasons I like being here.

If I want instant sex, easy to go to Pattaya or Angeles, point to whatever girl you want in the meat markets there and say "I want you number 32" and off you go.

As Natty says, it's different here and especially fun for expats who can speak a bit of Khmer. I have found extremely few girls who wouldn't go with me after a couple of visits to their bar, except the eye candy virgins. And even they are up for threesomes with more experienced girls where they will happily do hand jobs or even blow jobs under the instruction of the other girl.

But it's still easy and entertaining for tourists here I think, if they go to the right bars. Cyrcee in street 49 always has around 20-25 girls who will all go with you after one drink and a two minute chat. Golden Vine in street 108, Oasis in136, Pretty Woman in 110, DV8 in 148, many of the small bars in street 51, Pontoon and G Pub are all places where you are pretty much guaranteed success.

Third extended stay in Phnom Penh and have to agree that scene has become bit disappointing even in short period time I have been visiting.

This is mostly for Riverside hostess bars area, which I prefer due to it's laid back vibe and generally safety.

First is lack of decent girls that actually bar fine.

It seems like it's more and more the direction these bars are taking. I wonder if there just are not that many girls that are cute and want to enter the game?

Bars generally have some cute girls on staff but they not go, so it feels like you got duped by the time one.

Buys a drink.

I try to always remember to ask the girl upfront if she bar fines before I get her Lady drink now, to many.

Times I get my hopes up and then- sorry I not go with costumer line.

Also the first time I go to bar to check out line up I may buy one girl a drink and then ask her about each girl.

If they bar fine.

Bars may have two cute ones that do go but they are snatched up early, or pre booked, or very selective so.

That leaves not great selection by 9 pm.

Also the ideal customer they want to see is a small group of Asian men who will get 5 or 6 rounds of lady drinks in an 1 hour and then leave.

Thing change quickly here though, even in one month a bar can have totally different girls, and bars come and go. For example Candy closed and is now back at its original location that was Singers. They have about 3 girls that are pretty cute and will bar fine, and rest not so great or not go.

Oasis was not nearly as good as before in my opinion. Vvip looked good but only on some nights. 69 has a lot of girls but be prepared to get ignored. Loco is always comfortable and friendly. Rose is only one that always good.

Will scout some more locations and post anything seems promising for riverfront.

I found out that in the hostess bars now bf is 10 + 40 for ST or 60 for LT. (And no longer any use in trying haggling.) That's double the prices compared to 2012. A much steeper increase than PI or LOS. Sure, Bangkok gogo bars are still more expensive, but they have nudity. I wonder if the gap in prices between the countries will continue to decrease with the result of similar prices in two years from now?

It seems that Cambodia have a dual economy: urban vs rural as well as foreigner vs local. But prices of accommodation have not risen in the two years, although tuk-tuks have. For restaurants I don't remember.

I think the issue is that prices for everything are going up and the girls are learning how to get more from tourists. Minimum wage for regular workers is up 80 percent over the last few years and that still doesn't keep up with the costs of things. There's also the fact that the city is increasingly filled with rich Khmer guys who drive Lexus and range rovers and have no issue dropping $100 or more in an hour. Visit some ktvs or beer gardens for proof.

If you can speak Khmer and / or visit places tourists rarely go you'll find all the old things, including places that have ST for as little it always was even cheaper than the 20 dollar ST mentioned here.

In the hostess bars 100 percent of women who aren't virgins will go out if they are comfortable with the situation. Guys who live here and can speak the language can easily get phone numbers and avoid bar fees. Price never needs to be discussed and anything reasonable (less than 40 st, 50 Lt for sure) is accepted without issue. Usually it's tucked in a pocket and not even looked at.

The numerous fishbowls also offer easy access at varying rates and anyone can wonder into LCC and get ST for 20.

If anything there are less Viet freelancers around than before. I guess those were typically the easiest for tourists to meet on the cheap. There are still some in the usual places but not like it was in the old days.

Tourists in town for a few days that can't even count to five in the local language can't really expect to get great deals, on girls or anything else from tuk tuks to t-shirts at the market. That's common sense and applies to any country in the world.
