One thing interesting is what the lady said at the very end of the article:
". It is easy for criminals to buy their way out.
"They get out on bail, they pay the victims and the victims' families off to withdraw evidence and then they move from the Philippines to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, wherever and just set up again,"
A Primer on the Philippine Legal Structure
Hi Guys.
First, I want to say thank you to all of you for your posts over the years. I have been a regular reader for a long time, but only recently found the desire to actually post something. I want to contribute to these boards in a meaningful way, and I suppose part of my reluctance in doing so thus far was really not knowing how best to do that without being repetitive. Another was the knowledge that others were going to jump my shit and flame me, but, oh well."That's life in the big city".
So, I am preparing a series of posts about the Philippine legal system. These posts will all revolve around our mutual hobby, and intended to be an educational excercise in the country that many of us have come to adore. These posts are intended for others who are further along in their "Filipino experience". I personally am looking to emigrate to the Philippines in the next 5-10 years. I am still in "Learning mode", and definitely not an expert. However, I don't think I have seen many postings about the Philippine court\legal system, so this is how I choose to contribute.
Here is how I would like to break this down:
1) Introduction-This post.
2) Make up of the PH court system: What this means to you.
3) Make up of the PH Law enforcement establishment: What this means to you.
4) A discussion of the Anti-Trafficking in persons act of 2003.
For the record, I am in my early-mid forties, single with a long term Pinoy GF, a 7 on a scale of 1-10, and a middle manager living in a major Metropolitan city in the USA.
Regards,

What to do when an ISG member does this?
From the Cebu thread but relates to all of us in any city etc.
I know UP, the girl in question and I also know who the asshole is who did this. Hope he now pays for the girl's university fees.
The errant member has under 50 posts and is immature.

See what you think. This does happen, we all know this and read about it but unless the guy coughs up the tutuition fees this is really not a good one as she is pissed at UP and will likely just dump him so then what happens to her studies. Crazy.
Would love to know what the asshole has to say. Add your 50 posts (as the last one was about 5-6 months ago)
Just my two cents
Bar woman profiling of Foreigners
Guys,
I have a question about profiling foreigners by bar-women.
Just about every woman I have met in places like MBC have asked me the same introductory question about where I am from. I came to the conclusion that they are partly being friendly and socialable, and partly "profiling" me based on my country of origin. We do that here: we say that Japanese men display certain characteristics, Koreans display another set of charachteristics, etc.
My question is: Do the Bar women profile men based on country of origin, and if so, does anyone have a "roster" that kinda spells out the percieved desirability\reputation of various nationalities from their viewpoint? I am most interested in the difference between an American, an Aussie, a Brit, and a Kiwi. I already know about the Japanese\Koreans and their reputation.
Thanks in advance,
"What your name, Where your from"?
