Well, Blue Wave is still pretty bad, maybe 5-6 girls in at the most. They charge about $5 for the guesthouse room and it's upto you to negotiate with the girl, around $20. Not much talent there.

The bar staff do not speak good english, and unfortunately it seems to have turned into a cock fest with the local guys, was packed yesterday and only a few girls, watch out for the LB's in there if you're thinking of picking up a freelancer. The prices still remain high. Draft $1. 5, short+mixer around $2. 5 Close 4/5am.

HipHop. Bar staff speak slightly better english, a lot of freelancers in here, but you can't sit down at a table unless you buy a jug ($4. 5) or something similar in value, and standing at the bar is murder as there are so many waiters serving. Be warned there's a lot of khmer guys taking their girlfriends out so make sure you don't put your foot in it, but it can be packed and a lot of freelancers frequent here. Close 4/5am.

Micky Bar, happy hour before 10pm, $.75 beer and $1. 5 short+mixer, after it's $1 and $2. 5, lots of freelancers (who also go off to Zone1, HipHop etc. Close last customer. 4/5am.

Snow world, sort of late night cafe boozer, some of the girls come in here if they don't get a customer, mainly locals but a few barang.

Pub Town, bar with 30/40 girls, mamasan run, $35 take out, $15 to the house, $20 to the girl. A little bit past Zone 1 (not exactly sure, I was drunk when I went).

The new nightclub between angkor market and lucky, formerly a kareoke place. You can't smoke inside (this will probably change) , the pole dancers are LB's, trying to push for a higher end clientele owned by the guys who own hiphop and temple club, if a barang goes in and orders say a jug of draft, they'll get charged $10 but if they're with a khmer and they order they will get charged $5.

Don't pick up from pub street the freelancers as they are the freelancers who can't even afford to go into a club / bar and get a drink. A few warnings, the LB's around here will mug you, so be careful if you're going to go where they are around. A few of the freelancers are thieves, so store your valuables and if taking to your guesthouse, make sure you tell reception to phone you when they leave, hide your stuff, better still, just take enough with you for the night and use a short time room and have no valuables worth stealing, there's one just of micky bar.

Haggle, most charge $20 short, $30 long, but you can get lower easy, specify what you want, ask when they have to leave etc, you know the drill folks.

I think I may just pass on Siem Reap. My history of mongering there hasn't been great where as I know my way around the PP scene.

I'll be in siem reap for a few days with friends before they head home, so I'll check out some of the places you mentioned and maybe extend my stay a day or two depending how things look before heading to PP.

Three weeks vacation – Bangkok – Siem Reap – Phnom Penh – Vientienne – Northern Thailand (mates house) – Pattaya.

Thoughts on Siem Reap.

1. Taxi in from airport. $7. All ATMs in Cambodia give $. You get the local currency in change when less than a dollar.

2. Stayed in a small boutique hotel about 5 minutes walk from Pub Street. One of notices on wall said no guns, no drugs and no prostitution. A good choice as a hotel – comfortable and nice people and only $35 a night. There are loads of hotels but from what I saw the main need is to be close to the centre – although the ever present 'tuk tuk, massage, boom boom' is offered every couple of minutes.

3. Went for walk and decided on a 4 hand massage. Nice massage but no wandering until the larger one suggested an extra half hour massage which I took. Then all was on offer but not there – just HE and lots of touching 5/10. For the first time I note that Cambodian ladies don't shave.

4. Went for a nap then to Pub Street to eat and have a few beers. It was Christmas Eve and the Santa's were out in force (the music on Bangkok Air flight was Sinatra singing 'let it snow let it snow let it snow'. Clearly a few working girls along the street, back and forth back and forth. One was very attractive but I resisted. I followed one pair up and find that the base is Mikey's bar (so these are the free lancers described in a recent post). About 20 girls there – covering all tastes 4'd through to 8/9's). 9. Next morning I was reading in my room and decided to have massage. Asked the desk and the lady arrive about 10 minutes later; short, probably early 30's, big after child boobs. Sorry if this is a bit wordy, I can be somewhat verbose at time.

I generally travel with other people and was a bit of a fan of this place for a quick and easy on site screw before it moved locations. This is more a review of the new bar than the girl I took.

It's new location and decor makes it much more appealing place to eat or drink in. However for people like me this is a disadvantage. My previous MO was walk in, buy a beer, the girls would circle me I'd pick one, go out back to the ST hotel and screw her. Normally the place was empty or had one other person who was in there for the same reasons as me. The girls were all 5s or 6s but the attraction was in the convenience.

The new place is a proper ladybar and restaurant. I walked in about 7:30pm and grabbed a beer, only 2 girls there at the time. Signs on the wall say Lady Drink is normal price + $1. One sits next to me and asks if I'd like to play pool. At the time there was a couple eating food outside, I figured they were far enough away to not notice me sneak off with on of the girls. But whilst I was playing pool a group of female tourists arrived and a few single men. Not such a quick and dirty lay any more. I wasn't keen on the girl I was playing pool with (about a 6) but the other was quite fine (about 8 or 9, nice tits).
