Traveler1234,
Spent some time last night reading the Livingstone thread. Thanks for the other suggestions as well.
I've got to admit It sounds interesting. Just havn't decided yet if I want to be in the Soi area, Nana, or one of the other areas.
There is a lot of info here. Some of it contradictory.
Just trying to make the best informed decision that I can. First trip has to be a good one!
I'm certain if I can find a few ladies at Eden or a similar place, I'll experience the excitement I'm looking for.

Still working on the map thing. Will do some further research and see if I can narrow down the field. Travelers suggestion to buy the Lonely traveler sounds great. Can you find this in Bangkok. I'll be traveling with my signifigant other up until the flight to Bangkok. Can't take any chances that she will spot it in my suit case.
Thank you again for the suggestions.

I was merely extrapolating from one of your posts in the Giotta Lodge.
Hey....I did recommend the newbie to book at your place :D
LOL

First trip is always a throw away! By the time you have gottren over jet-lag, found your way around, had the screaming shit's for a couple of days, been ripped off and stupid many times you will be glad to see Bangkok out the airplane window. But, after you have been back in the "real world' for several months you start to feel the magical draw of Thailand all over again and swear that it will be different next time. Your "significant other" won't look quite the same to you and you will start making plans and excuses for your next trip back. By then you will know where to stay and have a better idea of what to do and what to avoid. Next thing you know, you will be sitting in the Soi 7 Bier Garten next to an Aussie, American, Britt, etc., talking of quitting your job back in the "world" and moving to Bangkok, finding a job as an English teacher and living with your Thai Bar Girlfriend. You have been warned!
You might want to avoid the Eden Club on your first visit. It might be too much for a newbie. Same for the Akame Massage. Stick to the more commercial places such as the Poseiden until you are more experienced. Think of it as running a marathon, you have to get in shape before competing with the "big boys." You don't want to be overwhelmed and ruined for life.
As for maps and information on BKK. Just find an Asia Books store when you arrive. They have everything you need. There may even be one at the airport. I know there is a large on in the departure area of Terminal 1, but I am not sure about arrival. And don't get ripped off by taxi driver from the airport. Use the taxi kiosk and get a legitimate fare. If he says the meter doesn't work, tell him that's no problem. When you arrive at your destination, just say thanks for the ride and get inside the hotel quickly. Or if you want to be fair just give him 150 Baht and get inside the hotel quickly.
Thank you for the suggestions Retired Army.
I have had 'some' experience with 'working' towns in the past. I know, I know. Not this city.
Fortunately, I'll be coming to Bangkok after 5 days in Shanghai so I'm hoping the jetlag won't be too bad.
Yeah, the taxi Rip is pretty common all around the world. Fortunately I figured this one out many years ago.
As far as the English teacher thing. I'll take my chances. No pain no gain
Why concern over the Eden club though. It sounds exciting. Are there concerns about getting ripped off there. Or are the girls just way too aggressive. If you are going to enjoy 2 ladies at the same time they better be aggressive. Just the first time I have heard any concern over the place.

RTFF above threads, they summarize what you need for first-timer.
If all you want is to Fxxx, stay in the Pink zone or as I suggested Soi 33 (less hectic, more relaxed but higher prices).
I guess my only advice is to know the prices for barfines, ST and LT. They're all posted in the FAQ and R of D threads....
Other newbies on their first trip had a memorable one - just need to prepare properly.

Yep,
I always write too much nonsense. I should think about retirement...
You know any nice place (Bangkok preferred), where an old guy can settle down and enjoy the last part of his life?

Well, I did post earlier, saying you're now in the 'service' business - essentially 24/7.
FYI, I heard there's this guy by the name of Thaksin who just took early retirement himself. You might want to email him and see where he plans to move to and see if he needs a companion :D :D

It sounds as if you are a little more worldly than I anticipited. The Eden Club is an experience to say the least. One thing it is not, is a rip-off. Marc runs a very fair establishment. He guarantees you will have a good time and the girls are very well versed in "carnal" knowledge. It is a little too intense for some folks though. I have been there and the girls were not quite up to my liking. Other times there were some real cuties. Another time it was full of Nigerian mongers, who hadn't bathed in years, and none of the girls looked happy. You never know what you are going to encounter. I have had better two girl experiences from Angel's Disco in the bottom of the Nana Hotel. But that is another story not related to the Eden Club.
I could just imagine a newbie from Utah, Idaho, Nebraska, etc., here with his church group being taken to the Eden Club. His life would never be the same!

Suggest you do a careful search under the bangkok massage parlor thread for Eden Club and read the posts.....as RA said, you either luv it or will walk out!
It's kinda like durian - lovely custard in the latrine .... LOL

I better work on my Schutzbah(sp)... I hate coming off looking like a wide-eyed hayseed.
It's the limited posting, I know. Never got into posting to the threads until a few months back, but that is a forum concerning local talent, not international.
Fun, interesting and informative. Helps everyone involved
J.
Thanks again.
Hi guys, need your help again. What is the best way to go from Bangkok airport to Majestic Suite and back to the airport. Would like to kinow what is the cost. Also is there a place to change US$ at the airport so I would at least have some baht to pay for the ride before going to a money changer. Also where would be the best money changer close to Majestic Suite for the best rate? Thanks for your help.

Turn left after customs, walk through the crowd, hang a right at the door, walk down the ramp, and catch taxi. Tell him hotel name, "take the tollway", give him B$100 for the tolls and sit back/relax.
Change money before you catch your taxi (money changer as you turn left out of customs). Unless you're changing lots of US$, the rate at airport is competitive enough. Or get to ATM machine, plenty around Sukhumvit.
For getting back to airport from hotel, suggest you get your GF to give you a ride :)
