Really didn't know at first what to answer. You see, I've been living in Warsaw for over 10 years and I speak fluently Polish, but I don't count a single taxi driver among my friends. And I couldn't even recommend one, even though there are some that come to my mind in Moscow or in Bucharest, where I'm much more seldom. I'm not so sure what you're thinking about can be done. When I wrote "your friendly taxi driver" I was thinking about the guys that work as taxi drivers for the hotels. They usually speak English and have all the connections. When I arrived in Warsaw, I was surprised Chopin airport was so small. After a bus took us from the plane to the terminal, immigration was right behind the door. After passing immigration, the luggage was right in front of my nose. And once I’d picked up my luggage, it was just a few steps to the exit.

On my way back home, I understood why. Wizz Air and the other budget airlines use a separate terminal (Etudia), which is 300m from the main airport. When I got there, there were over 100 people in a single queue - all airlines and all flights together. The place was like a fucking zoo. Welcome to budget travel!

As I took my time to smoke a couple of cigarettes after exiting the terminal, all the taxis were gone by the time I needed one. I had to walk to the main road to flag one down.

Chopin airport isn’t far from the city centre, so the taxi fare is only about 30 PLN.

When I arrived after 10PM, the money exchange was closed and there is no ATM in Etudia terminal. I had to grab a taxi without holding any local currency. Luckily, there was an ATM at my hotel.

The room was relatively small, but very well equipped and immaculately maintained.

The bed was ultra-soft and a delight to sleep in. And there was definitely no lack of pillows. The hotel was not to blame for the lack of female company. LOL
