I can't speak for everyone but I think most of who did not speak Spanish
Do you need to know spanish really well? I can get by on very elementary level. Do some girls speak english there?
Use Google Translate on our smartphones. Use the word "oral" for blowjobs. There are other tidbits. Love and sex really is a universal language and you can get a lot to done with body language and the eyes, but if you don't speak Spanish, you will need to use Google Translate, on-line. I recommend downloading the app and not just connecting to the Google Translate Web page.
Earlier this week, I took delivery on a new Google Pixis 6 smartphone knowing that one of its features was that it does not need to be connected to the Internet to use the Spanish translator, it's preprogrammed. The phone also has dual-SIMS so you can drop in a SIM card from a local Colombian provider without losing the functionality of your carrier from the USA on the embedded eSIM. However, a fellow mongerer tells me this dual-SIM feature will not work in Colombia, for Google phones, yet. So that funcitionality remains to be seen for me, I will try it on my next return trip and report back.
Thank you for refreshing candor and a very interesting read
Many may not relate but I can. I am just like that. I give girls iPhones. I call them my steadies. I see them on every trip for a year at least and some for 3 years and going. After 2 years they just bring friends and come. I just pay taxi money. It is a long game for me which is not so For many guys so it may not make sense for them to start doling out iPhones. I chose who I give to. She has to be pretty, no drama, never cancel on me, be smart. For example I organize parties and one of my steadies takes care of the entire logistics. She sends me photos and I approve some of her friends and invite few more of my own. She then organizes invites, RSVP, Rappi, taxi payments, late night pizza, party supplies and most importantly she keeps an eye on things, and make sure place is clean etc. They stay overnight for the price of ST. There is a real friendship element there and not just about the phone. Phone happens because of friendship and not the other way. So all outlier spending should have some context. I typically buy one or two models down from the latest and they are very happy with that. I bought nearly 20 phones in 5 years.
Someone said it is all about camera. Not quite in my experience. I had a girl give me back Samsung Ultra 20 for iPhone 10 XS at the time when you 20 and iPhone 12 were top models. They want to see apple logo followed by number of camera lenses in the selfie mirror. I still ask if they want best camera or iPhone and they choose iPhone two models down. (One of the best value phones for camera is Xiaomi and no one in CO wants it at half price of equivalent iPhone with much better camera).
Obviously, you "get it" and much more than that, make it work. When I first came to this Web site, it was considered heresy if someone even suggested that a person "gifted" objects such as iPhones to these chicas. Fortunately, I concentrate on The Truth and not what others think. I am not trying to convince anyone else they should be buying iPhones but I am not going to pretend about what I do and what makes me happy. There are a lot of silent lurkers and observers who can see the situation for what it really it and are not swayed but opinions just because someone is a frequent flier here.
Your side comment about the camera was interesting and I agree somewhat. The camera is a status symbol from branding and for the quality of the fotos. You really can't argue about any loss of quality comparing the best of Samsung to the best iPhones.
My Numero Uno Novia Catgirl blew up on TicToc. She insists she needs her iPhone Pro Whatever to get the job done. As a result, she became financially independent from me for all her living expenses, so needless to say those iPhones were a worthwhile investment.
There are others who "get it" here but they just don't make as much noise as a few of the less enlightened detractors here. That's fine. They will make fun of you (us) for calling them our "steadies" or novias. They don't understand if your experience in real time is making you happy, then it works. They talk about getting laughed at or ridculed because that's how they see themselves in that situation, in order justify their unwillingess or inability to participate. In other words, classic projection.
I have never suggested anyone else should go out and buy two paper cups and a string for these chicas. I believe the "heart and soul" or the silent majority and a few of the other posters here, are more enlightened and open minded otherwise I would not waste my time. Oh, and thanks for the effective writing, also.
I am going to have one final major point on this topic later, but I am on the road right now, headed down to Florida. I just woke up so there may be cobwebs in this post, jajajaja. Ostee Out!
Freedom of personal choice in a lot of the situations we discuss here
I hear what you are saying and at the end of the day its your life and your money so do with it as you please. Buying a chica 1 phone is one thing and I wouldn't be against it down the road if the vibe is right. But if she ever lost it or got it stolen unless I saw it right in front of my eyes, I would never buy her a phone again.
Very few of us are going to agree on these examples nor should we. Sharing can be fun and I learn a few things along the way.
I know it seems like I'm obsessed on psychological defense mechanisms, but only because projection and denial run rampant here.
Yeah there is a lot of that going on for sure, jajaja
Not judging anyone on whether they buy or don't buy phones. BUT has almost every working girl had her phone stolen? I have heard this so many times in Medellin and San Jos. They all have have kids or mothers who are sick or just had electric or water cut off for non payment and they all have had their phones stolen. I just don't believe it. I think many of them may sell them for money or had an old cheap phone and want someone to buy them a new expensive one. Or they are just so fkn tonta and careless because they didn't spend their own money to buy it. You would think that they know a new iPhone or equivalent is a target so you would think they would hide it rather than show it off. That's one thing everyone here knows and says as advice. Carry a cheap phone or don't show what you have. Don't give the papaya. Another one is a cam girl who will tell you she got robbed on payday. All ploys to get free money or gifts in my whatever it's worth opiniand. I have given an old iPhone that I bought for a $100 for traveling away and it was well worth it. Once again, I just can't believe they all get their phones stolen and have so much sickness in their family.
I think there was one family by the time I ended up replacing all the "stolen" phones probably everyone in three generations had a phone, jajaja. Including grandma and the dog!
Chew on that one for awhile mi amigos, jajajajaja.
