Solid Information Appreciated
I will pose this question only once and suggest that replies go to me by PM. I apologize in advance that this is not directly about mongering, although it is related to my ongoing justification for travel to the Phils, which permits me to get my end wet on a regular basis.
Does anybody have experience with a competent transcription service in the Phils that is capable of working from digital audio files (like mp3 or similar) and whose English skills are reasonably accurate? The audio in my files is mostly in English with an occasional Tagalog word here and there. Translating the Tagalog is not necessary. The files are usually too big to send by email, but I have successfully used dropbox.com to transfer the larger files. I have been working with a small company in Makati that was recommended to me by a politically well-connected woman from Pasay City. They performed okay at first but seem to have flaked out on me within the last year. Perhaps typical of some technology-related Philippine businesses-great window dressing but ultimately incapable of sustained follow through. I brought some pressure to bear once by going back to my politically-connected friend, but using Tita M to lean on them on a regular basis is not a viable way to maintain a business relationship, nor my own relationship with Tita M. I appreciate recommendations and contact information for businesses whose track record you know from experience. Manila, Cebu, Davao, location does not matter, so long as they're competent and can handle the work via electronic communication.
