Flying from the East Coast before I created my own stopovers for a couple/several days whether it be Japan, Seoul, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, etc then head down to SEA. Left me with very little, if any, jet lag. As long as the price is fairly close to what I would pay to fly continuously on a 1 stop flight for 24+ hours I'm in. The other option is take a long layover and go crash in sleeper "pods" at the airports. Even a 2 or 3 hour nap and to be able to shower is worth its weight in gold. The one in Incheon is particularly nice.

I'm pretty frugal but the one thing I will splurge for is paying more for air tickets if if means getting to my final destination hours before a cheaper flight. I know guys who will fly 2+ layovers to save a few hundred bucks. To me it's not worth it. Just get me there in the least amount of stops available. I personally hate sitting around in airports and unnecessarily going through airport security. Now I'm not like another friend of mine who says if the flight is more than 6 hours he won't go unless he's in a lay flat seat.

TF premium was not bad at all. Plenty of responses.

When I started traveling a 8 hour flight usually involved an aerial refueling if you were not on a 747-8 (9200 miles) or whatever series. I happen to find it amazing that MSP to ICN is 12 hours on an AirBus with just two engines. Those planes are mother fucking beasts. Modern miracles of human engineering. I've been doing the LAX to MNL flight (direct flight on Philippine Airline), staying for some time, and then going to BKK direct. There are also direct flights to Manila from SFO and JFK.

My next trip in August I fly from Lax to Tokyo Haneda with a long nine hour layover and then flight to BKK with an early morning 5:00 am arrival. While on the layover in Tokyo I have free lounge access so I'll be able to shower, eat and rest.

Arriving to BKK so early I see as a good thing as I will force myself to stay awake the whole day and not sleep until late evening or night so I can quickly get acclimated to the new time zone. Plus I have a very specific routine on my first day in BKK which I intend to implement.

Had a two night layover in BKK recently and had a pretty great time but man have prices gone up over the years!
