Thanks fo the update, its good to know that things seem to be getting better, I guess I will await your opinion and wait till Wednesday, its not every month that I get a chance to come here, waitng for this since a whlile, but don't want to ruin the whole experience by coming at the wrong time, so please keep me posted.

What is the scene otherwise in the major shopping areas paragon, central etc. I tried contacting someone, got no response on the phone. Dunno why they were closed songkran or the protests.

Most Department stores and Malls downtown, including Paragon and Central were closed because of the protests.

The government has declared Thursday and Friday as additional holidays to clean up the mess and restore some sort of normalcy.

What should we do to beat stress?

Well that’s the question me and some pals asked ourselves when we caught up for a cpl of drinks a few weeks ago and the winning answer was ‘THAILAND’.

A cpl of weeks of planning and we were already on the flight to Bangkok. Our thai experience began the moment we boarded the thai airways flight, amazing service.

We landed at the Bangkok airport and took a cab to Livingstone’s Lodge Hotel, which cost us about 300 baths. On arriving at LL we realized that our check in time was 12 noon but the staff at LL was extremely cordial and checked us in 4 hours early for a very nominal cost. There was a very pleasant surprise that awaited us when we got to the rooms. Guess what? Free Upgrade to the Superior rooms with Jaccuzis, we couldn’t have asked for a better start to our trip. LL was the best experience ever, amazing rooms, comfortable environment, yummy breakfast, lovely bar, extremely friendly staff and Giotto is the coolest guy I have come across. He is so well informed about everything, we had a few very good discussions and I believe I have learnt some from him.

Day 1

Well armed with the info shared by Giotto, we headed out to explore and experience Bangkok. I was wondering if anybody else on this forum has had problems with passports expiring in less than 6 months.

I was planning on traveling to Thailand on 4/19/09 and returning 5/4/09. I thought I was fine with these dates since my passport does not expire until 5/20/09. But just now, I read on a hotel website that the passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity. Then again, the U.S. Dept of State site does NOT mention this requirement.

So, which is it? Has anyone tried and succeeded in entering Thailand with a passport expiring in less than 6 months?

PLEASE HELP!!! My travel window is closing and I can't wait for a new passport!!!

Hate to bust your arse but I would not advise that. I'm a dual citizen and carry a third diplomatic passport and my US passport was close to expiration and they denied me so I had to use my diplomatic one even though it was not really work which also violated a shit load of rules.

Of course you might even get busted at check in now adays and denied boarding. That happens in my country (non usa) a lot, not sure about your country.

For something as important as this, is it too much to call the U.S or Thai Embassy/Immigration services? What if you get the wrong information from this sex board and get caught up in unnecessary immigration drama upon your arrival? I think that 6 month passport requirement is standard policy for most countries but recommend you go to the source and use this board for it's recreational purpose.
