If she goes to a 2-4 hour spa day with her girlfriends, I will stay in the room (to work / sleep / relax), change my location svcs to my iPad, then sneak out to Chao9 or Mango for an hour.

In Phuket, I'll probably rent a scooter near Orchid, Heavenly or Coconut MP in Choeng Thale (and leave my phone in the scooter down the street).

Both these ideas are relatively safe.

If it doesn't work out, at least I tried! I doubt I'll try anything more aggressive. I do have a buddy who lives in BKK now, but he's more of a travel friend I met in Costa Rica so not sure she'd let me take off for an entire evening with him given we only have 3 nights in BKK. Maybe I'll meet him for a drink but then I'd have to have him take my phone or leave it in his apartment if we went to Nana, etc.

It was something like K99, N49, something with a letter and a number. Very short name. I've tried searching on google but haven't been able to find anything. Anyone?

I haven't hung out in that area for about 6 years and the memory section of my brain is the consistency of warm farina. I had a fabulous hardbody up there. I thought Covid closed the strip up because it doesn't get a lot of mention. The Thai dudes there were very cool too.

So plans have changed a little and I will only be staying in Thailand for 1 week in September.

It will be my first time visiting.

Paolo in the Bangkok Hotel thread recommended maybe Novotel or Ibis Styles?

Are the $50-$100 hotels worth it to save money instead of splurging on something $100 or more per night?

Because I was also considering The Landmark.

If I pay a bar fine is it implied that we would be going to my hotel?

I don't know the difference between that and like short time rooms / hotels? I'm confused about how things go with bargirls and logistics.
