Patpong is Properly rated. So bad you really don't need to go there.
I don't know about you but I've always pissed on the thought of Pat pong however, the recent reviews make me want to go check it out again after probably 10 years. There's a lot of good food in the area so might be worth an earlier visit my next time in town it's no hassle at all to get to from Suk.
On the other hand, knowing my fat lazy elderly stoned ass the way I do, I'll probably just end up at Thermae.
Excellent report from Mr. Good Times. Kudos to him for taking the time to post. Glad to hear that Patpong is showing signs of life.
Bunky
Thanks Bunky.
It's more than just signs of life, as far as talent goes it was thriving, and yes, that can change quickly. The added benefits are that it was low on customers, and at least for me, the girls were willing to negotiate on price. Tho they did make some extra money on drinks. As I mentioned three very happy visits across three different gogos there, KingCastle, BadaBing, and Radio City.
Lastly, the short time hotel in the area as new, and very attractive to use.
I have been visiting BKK for over a decade but I have never found a gym that meets my needs. First off, I am basically a long distance runner who does some weight training so I need a decent treadmill in a room that is decently air conditioned. I had a pretty good gym that I frequent near the S31 Sukhumvit hotel, but the treadmill is by a window and the heat can be oppressive (the the S31 Sukhumvit hotel has a nice gym on the 9th floor, but they won't let non-residents use it). Furthermore, I think the gym is basically closed down. In addition to a treadmill, I like to work out on the bench but I also like machines, which are virtually non existent in my gym.
When I look at ThaiFriendly, lots of the freelancers are working out in beautiful gyms, so perhaps I should ask them. At the risk of sounding sexist (LOL), not all women know what constitutes a decent gym. That is why I am asking here for recommendations.
Please PM me or post some suggestions! Thanks, MG.

I'll second the recommendation for Jetts at Asoke due to location and price mostly, though I've never tried the treadmills there so not sure of their quality (I prefer to run outside in the nearby park). Much better is the Jetts on the other side of Benjakitti park, in the small shopping mall there next to the big hospital. There's an MRT stop nearby and you can connect via the BTS on e. G. Asoke (just one stop down from Asoke).
If money is no consideration, the gym at the top floor of Emquartier at Phrom Phong, Virgin Active, is probably one of the best you can find in Bangkok (or anywhere else for that matter). It's too expensive as a short-term membership for me though. Virgin Active also has other locations in Bangkok which I suspect are good too.
Most hotel gyms are pretty poor, but one of the better hotel gyms I've seen is the gym in the Marriot on Sukhumvit 22, right next to the new Emsphere shopping mall. It also has squash courts you can use as an excuse to meet more sporty girls at your hotel for the first date.

There's a mid level place that serves decent bbq.

I switched from Jetts about a year ago, but I think it is overkill for a visitor, especially if one isn't interested in classes like hiit, yoga, and pilates reformer. Their shortest term is 4 months and that is well over a hundred US month. Jetts Black at Rama IV will also be more expensive then the regular Jetts at Asoke, although it is definitely a better gym.

After so long it gets tiring / boring doing the same barbell exercises.
Ambassador hotel has an old school but decent gym, so has Prince Palace hotel. Muu Bangkok and So / Bangkok if your budget is slightly higher.
Was in Bangkok for 48 hours. It was my first time there, so figured my report may help other newbies.
My first night I went to Wonder Massage. I had looked at pics of the girls beforehand (they are on Telegram and Line), and the pic of the girl I took (Micky) was accurate. I loved being able to pick from a lineup of girls, though there were really only 2-3 I found attractive. I chose a 1-HR Nuru session (1 pop) which included a soapy bath beforehand, for 3000 THB. I thought the soapy beforehand was an amazing and unique experience! DFK, HJ, BBBJ, and CFS was available, and I finished with CIM.
I went to Soi Cowboy afterward, and while it was fun the scene wasn't for me. Tried walking to other recommended massage parlors but got caught in a downpour and gave up. (See more below.).
The next afternoon I checked out the lineups at several massage parlors (including Wonder Massage again) looking for someone attractive. I'm guessing the selection gets better the later it gets, but I was extremely disappointed and by 6 pm gave up. After a quick dinner, I went to La Belle where they have a "fishbowl" that allows you to check out the girls while you enjoy a beer. There were girls in different price ranges (though only a few at the lower ranges), and eventually I settled on a cute girl for 4500 THB for a 90-min session with 2 pops. The session again included an amazing soapy bath after which we moved to a bed for DFK, BBBJ, and CIM. Had another great time, though was disappointed that the girl didn't manage the time properly and I only got 1 pop in. (Maybe it was partly my fault since I spent some time getting her to O.).
Afterward I checked out Nana Plaza. Definitely worth seeing, and lots of good looking girls (much better than I was seeing at the massage parlors) but I didn't think it was great value. I was quoted 5000 THB (4000 + 1000 barfine) for 1 HR, and that didn't include the cost of the hotel (she was not willing to walk 10 minutes to my hotel) or the drinks. One thing I would add is that I thought several of the clubs had beautiful girls; I didn't find the girls in Billboard or Butterflies significantly more attractive than anywhere else (though there were more to choose from), and the hottest girl I had a drink with was at Lollipop. Didn't leave with anyone.
I ended up picking up two girls on the street for a 1-hour duo back at my hotel for 3000 THB each. A much better deal! Though I should say that I found the service lacking compared to my soapy experiences where the girls really wanted to please.
Overall, I would say things took much more planning than I expected. It takes time to go from place to place, especially if you want to go outside the core area to places like La Belle (where it took forever to get a taxi back) or Tulip (which I did not make it to), and especially if it is raining (which it probably will). I loved the soapies, but for me looks are a big part of it and I was disappointed with what was on offer. My advice is to do some advanced research (using Line) to see lineups in advance, and consider scheduling a particular girl if you find her attractive. Nana can be great if you're willing to invest the time, though I question how good the service would be. (I got the impression the girls want the turnaround time to be as fast as possible.).

I'll let the photos do the talking for me.
I had tried to load them before but they aren't there, hopefully this time.
First two are BadaBing, third is Radio City, fourth is last week at KingCastle.
I like the machines down in Thermae.
For sure the atmosphere of Patpong isn't vibrant like Nana Plaza. In fact it is quiet and almost depressing compared to it's heyday. But there are girls there worth checking out. And a walk down Soi Thaniya is interesting. Tons of girls outside that are unavailable to Westerners.
It's nice you have time to check out other posters credibility.

We always think of Nana, Soi Cowboy, and Soi 7. I have been there in the past and always found great ladies there. Your posts have reminded me.
