No derision here OTH, your posts over the last few days could be written by many of us who spend lots of time in many S.E Asia countries. I have been fucked over time and time again in Indonesia by the locals, and obviously have still not learned my lesson, as I still am there, getting fucked again.

My ex GF there stole 10,000$ from me, and there was nothing I could do about it.

I am with GE on this while I don’t live in Thailand I do live in PI and while they are different in many ways they are also similar in many ways. I am becoming the grumpy, old expat due to the way they do things and the “disingenuous” nature of the people only I am not old…. that said…I guess the willing pretty 18-24 year old females and low cost of living balances everything out.

I don't really care about the lost job. But, I am sad about the GF. We've lived together for 3 years and actually had a great time together, all the time. We were going to get married soon. I don't really get it. But, I doubt I would ever get a straight answer from her, as to why she pulled a stunt like this, completely out of the blue. BTW, she actually had the nerve to ask me to wait for her to come back from the US. (Ya, right. I'm going to do that).

Anyway, I think we should end this discussion, and move onto something more positive.

Here's a friend, I've known for a lot longer than my GF. Out of the frying pan, into the fire, perhaps?...LOL ;)

Given the description of this poster's journey into woe, we must all give her credit for some natural survival skills.

I see the same priniciples at the office. A few years ago, when I saw guys from Sales (human rats) abandoning a big implementation project, I knew it was in trouble. Sure enough, one year later the project tanked at a write-off of EUR15m. Some species just know when to flee.

My ex-"mid so" TGF got a 10 year student visa to the States, which she promptly ignored and started working as an illegal. Before the crash last year, she was making USD500/day PROFIT. Current crippled economy aside, when all is said and done, she will have enough savings to come back, buy her own place, set up a nice business and live a good life. She did this all on her own and I am proud of her accomplishments.

Most of all, my ex has been a loyal friend over the years. Not a day has really gone by that we don't exchange a good morning and good night sms. She helped me so much over the years when I was setting some things up in Thailand. I rarely have anything personal about myself to say on this forum, but the fact is that my long-term experience is that there are plenty of good Thai people around Thailand.

I couldn't agree more. I never intended this to turn into a personal pity party. But, you know how these things go on here. Someone makes a remark, or asks a question. There's a response. There's another opinion, or a rebuttal. There's a new, slightly side-ways response. And, so it goes until it goes off the rails in some direction or other.

If any of this even belonged on ISG, at all, it should have been on the Living in Thailand thread.

So, let's get the thread back to stories about P4P experiences in BKK, which will make people happier.

In my case, the advantage is that living 10 minutes from Cowboy, I'm sure I can go out tonight and find something to counter the turmoil of recent days. :)

I give you sympathy not gloating even if we do not see eye to eye... but it's good to be honest and share this. Goes to show all people WTF can happen with thai girls and in Thailand.

You might think you got a good girl, P4P or non P4P and you can still end up getting screwed over.

For those of us who have gotten the right girl, congrats, but it's a big friggin gamble and I've yet to get it right. Two major strike outs for me, one during new year.
