A sudden urge to start considering retirement hit me a few days back, while working on my itinerary for an upcoming Indonesia trip. I booked a detour trip to Thailand to see if it's appeals as a long-term home.

My first 2 nights are booked in Bangkok, leaving 4 nights. Looking for insight on how to split that time. I'm considering Si Racha as a retirement spot, so a visit to Pattaya seems like a good plan (or I'm justifying a trip to Pattaya). An obvious solution would be to do 2 nights in Pattaya, then decide whether to stay, or go back to Bangkok. Another option is do 2 and 2, then take 2 in Si Racha.

Mongering isn't the top priority, but I'm going to do enough to keep me happy. I've already got Thai Friendly installed and thanks to all who have recommended it. It appears to be a gold mine. I'm a big fan of massage, so I'll be checking that out.

I'm looking for opinions and suggestions. What things make your favorite places better, for you? I doubt many here spend a lot of time in Si Racha, but any insight is appreciated.

The retirement thing is just the preliminary stage. I'm at least 2 years out, maybe 3.

The rest of the charges above I consider spare change and my "tax" for not speaking Thai and being an annoying foreigner in their world so its no biggy. The service was good so I again handed my girl P 500 and gave a 100 note to each of the two servers that were constantly bringing us food and filling our glasses. Everyone seemed happy with their tips. I also gave my security guy outside a 50 note since he's super helpful, fun to talk to and speaks the best English of anyone there. And even though he's short, he looks like the type of guy that could destroy anyone that might try to bother me so I'd like to stay on his good side. The one odd thing was that there was a drunk local ruffian looking dude in the bar drinking a beer and ogling the girls. I don't know why they let him in. He came over to me while I was trying to eat dinner but he was in a drunken stupor and started speaking Thai to me while "cheersing" my glass of water and shaking my hand as if we were long lost pals. He was nice enough but it was pretty awkward and I had no idea what he was saying. Luckily after about 2 minutes one of the security guys gently stepped between us and shielded me from the ruffian. In any case, the night was a good time overall. Total damage for a nice meal, 2 large beers, and 2 hours with a cute girl in a private karaoke room, including all tips = 2800. Can't be beat. I did finally make the walk back to the toilet just so I could see the extensive lineup of cuties and sure enough they were there. Unlike Thermae or CH, only a few made eye contact as I walked by and I don't think any of them smiled at me so while I may test the waters to grab one on the next few days, I certainly didn't get any warm-fuzzies making that walk. My security guy says the RCA next door is part of their bar system so I think I'll go check that out. I never did make it to Billboards so that's on the agenda as well. And yea, I'm still trying to get my ex out of my head (she wants to FaceTime constantly) but will eventually get around to ST'ing a hot candidate as soon I regain my sanity and mongerhood. Cheers! Easy walk to Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station. From there, it's one stop to the Asok Station and Soi Cowboy. Or two stops to the Nana Station, Thermae and the Nana Entertainment Plaza. When it comes to the girls, that depends. Some are fine making the trip back to your hotel, and some are reluctant to stray far from where you met. You'll definitely need to go by taxi. Alternatives include ducking away to a short time room, or finding a girl online who's willing to stop by.

Go to a club. May I ask you if you have ever called a Sideline agency or girl and used the service in Bangkok. If so, can you report about it? Inquiry minds would like to know. I went to Nana the other night. Didn't like what was going on so guess what? I left and went to T-Ded 99. You have many choices, but those who constantly complain about prices in Bangkok are just wasting their time. I could understand if it was your first time. Trip Report: Day 68.

Having had decades of success in the Phils using online dating platforms to find long-term sweet hotties, I was confident I could replicate the formula here in Thailand. My finely honed technique in the Philippines involved working the dating sites (FC, Seeking, PL, DIA you name it) to find attractive, genuinely sweet women for extended relationships. Armed with this succesful strategy, I signed up for ThaiFriendly, expecting similar results. To my surprise, I got nothing. Zero responses. Defeated, I shelved the idea until I stumbled upon ET's tip, the direct approach: "Want to earn money?" I spammed the message to as many profiles as possible. Jackpot! ET nailed it. My inbox exploded. Girls were eager to meet immediately, and it quickly became overwhelming. I managed to chat with a few, setting up a meeting with one who seemed promising. Unlike other mongers, I require a meet and greet first to see if a girl meets my expecations. She agreed, but expected 500 baht for "taxi fare", and quoted a rate of 2000 baht for a short time. I'm ok with this, and given my current lack of interest in on-the-spot ST, I figured I could give her the money and take her out for dinner if she passed muster upon meeting. We agreed to meet near my condo. Her photos looked un-photoshopped, and I was optimistic. I hit the gym, showered, and prepared for what I thought would be an easy win. She was late, but apologetic, keeping me updated on her progress. Finally, she texted that she had arrived. I walked over but on arrival my optimism deflated instantly. She was nice, sure, but decidedly unattractive. A 5/10 at best. And her personality didn't make up for it. While the financial loss was minimal, the experience was time-consuming. It was a clear case of diminishing returns. It became evident that for my requirements, it's better to eyeball girls directly in a bar like TDed99 or Thermae and just deal with the fact that many of these girls will not try to build any rapport as they seek rapid customer turnover. Thus, ThaiFriendly was relegated to the back burner. I'll only revisit it if I spot someone whose unfiltered photos truly catch my eye.

Leaving the Starbucks, I revised my strategy. First, a stop at Crazy House, followed by a walkthrough of Thermae's nightly lineup du jour, and lastly, a serious look at Billboards. I headed to Crazy House with my primary goal to verify the cost of the lady drinks. The place was packed. Groups of men were talking with the staff outside, but I pushed my way through and asked about the price of the lady drinks. Again, I was quoted 400 baht, a price that I consider exorbitant. Thermae was next. The bar was packed to the rafters with guys and gals. After a slow pass around the bar, I spotted a few that were my type. Sadly, none of the cuties would make eye contact so I didn't talk to any.

The "back 40," however. Where the older, often fat, non-hotties congregate. Was another story. Navigating that area is like "running the gauntlet," with constant greetings and gentle arm grabs. "Don't make eye contact," I always mutter to myself. I'd been circling the room, people-watching, when I overheard a deflated American guy lamenting the strict business-like conversation he just had with one of the girls. "This is what I mean," he said to his friend, "I can't just pull a girl out of here after a price quote. I need to build some rapport first. While they liked the place, it was already getting crowded, and the prime selection of women was dwindling. I suggested hitting it right at opening for the best choices. We agreed to a future early visit. I gave them the grand tour including the hidden "toilet run" where all the girls line up on the long couch. My buddies quickly made their choices, grabing one girl each, but I wasn't feeling any sparks so sat with the boys in the booth without a girl. As we ate and drank, enjoying the constant parade of girls, a stunning girl strolled by; noticeably different from the others. In my excitement, I fumbled for my phone, handing it to her. The moment she opened it, catching a glimpse of another woman's photo, she feigned jealousy. This girl knows what she's doing, I thought. After a brief but captivating ten minutes, she prepared to leave. I offered her 200 baht as a tip, but she initially refused, saying she hadn't stayed long enough. I insisted, and she accepted. Then came the red flag. She stated that she couldn't leave without me paying an 800 baht bar fine, but she immediately qualified that she would pay it. I was concerned that she was trying to work me for the 800 just 10 minutes after meeting her. I politely opted out, explaining through my google translator that I live here, am a regular, and the bar would be upset if I lied to them about taking her out. She immediately backed down, saying it was no problem. Years of experience have made me immune to these types of subtle manipulations. If anything, it's a turn-off. Next time I visit TDed99, I'll text C in advance. I'll give her a chance to be genuine. But if she tries her tricks again? Blocked. C left, and I found myself alone again. Then, I spotted the cute little dancer from the other night, the one who avoided eye contact. She was now offering lap dances! I was too shy though between her not making eye contact the other night and my inexperience with dancers. Watching her move around the room, there was an undeniable sweetness and shyness in her demeanor. Something about her kept pulling me back, so I signaled an attendant and requested a dance. When she approached, her shy smile and giggling, partially hidden behind her hand, only amplified that impression. As I sat in the booth, she carefully mounted me, facing me and began to gently sway, rock forward and back to the music, mimicking FS. I put my hands on her hips and looked up at her. She looked down deeply into my eyes, smiled, and then quickly looked away in shyness. Her naivete and sweetness were captivating. She was clearly new to this, not a seasoned professional. The encounter left a lasting impression. I found myself wanting her more and more. I asked her for her Line ID, which she happily provided. As the night drew to a close, our group settled the bill; a surprisingly reasonable total less than 2 k that covered food, drinks, company, the lap dance and tips.
