Pros in Montezuma
I hear this is a great place to visit, but I'm wondering if there is any action there. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
I can't say for sure but I lived there 10 years ago and never heard of any prostitution. Then, I was there a year ago, and also didn't see or hear of any. I doubt there is any prostitution in Montezuma.

Puntarenas a sh_t hole
Softball,
There is no decent hotel I would recommend in Puntarenas. Just pass through and forget that city. I had some job to do with my former boss in the city a few year ago, but we lived on my boss's boat for a week. I couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. I visit Costa Rica at least 6 times a year but I will never travel to the city again.

I agree. I went there and looked at half a dozen hotels recommended by my Moon handbook guide. All of them were horrible. So I caught the next boat out towards Montezuma.
It looked like a rough town, not at all like most other towns in Costa Rica. I got the impression it was very seedy, that you could probably find crack *****s on the street... and get your throat cut. But that was just my impression, I can't back it up...

Jaco
I am looking for some information on the Pancho Villa bar in Jaco. I understand this is a different establishment than the Beetle Bar. Can anyone give me details and information on Pancho Villa? Is it a strip club? Dancers or freelancers? Tell me about the girls. Pricing? Rooms on site, or salidas? Any information is appreciated.

Pancho Villa
Panco Villa is about 4 blocks south of Beatle Bar. It is a normal bar/resturant that is frequented by ladies of the night. Upstairs is a place called Diva's which is a strip bar with private rooms but I am not sure if you can get FS. I would imagine you can but it would probably cost you a bunch. Girls are hot in Diva's but it gets crowded in the high season. My advice would be to check the joint out.

Pancho Villa's
I haven't been there in about a year or so but it's a late night place. The migration is from the Beatle Bar to the Disco about 12:00 or so, maybe the Monkey Bar is now somewhere in between. After the Disco slows down about 3:00 or 4:00, then you go to Pancho VIlla's, that's where all the girls end up.
Good Luck

Jaco Hotels
Heading to Jaco in Feb, can anyone recommend any hotels that are hobby friendly. Last time I was in Jaco stayed at the Best Western, nice place, family type resort. There was a short term hotel adjacent to beetle bar, $20 hour? that I used.

Nice place on the beach with great air conditioning (very needed in Jaco). But it is a bit expensive. They are girl friendly to the point you do not have to check in your chica. But that means there is no record of your visitor so keep an eye on your belongings.

Tamarindo?
This early into winter, and I'm getting cabin fever here in the Northeast, which causes me to browse orbitz.com for fares to Latin America.
Mind if I pose a couple questions?
For one, I'm thinking about heading to Tamarindo, CR, for a week or so to enjoy the sun and the local talent. But is there any talent to be had, and if so, for what kind of price structure?
Also, do you well seasoned tico travelers recommend flying into San Jose or Liberia? I live in a city now, and really want open space. But maybe San Jose is worth checking out.
Please feel free to share your insight.
Gracias, Vaquero

As for flights, Liberia is definitely closer. If you are already in San Jose, you can fly to a small airport near Tamarindo (I did this on a small prop plane, but it wasn't from the main San Jose airport, it was from a smaller airport on the near west side of downtown).

Plenty of European and some North American tourists around, though I didn't see any single women that got me interested. It is a nice small beach town though, and there are a couple of good golf courses within an hours drive or so.
Liberia's airport is closest. If you are interested in spending some time in San Jose, there was a small airline flying between San Jose's 2nd airport and a small airport close to Tamarindo (we're talking a small single prop plane seating maybe 8 passengers - but it was a decent plane and the views were awesome).

Tamarindo on the way
I booked my flight to Liberia a couple of weeks ago.
Actually, from whatI hear from native ticos and surfers that have gone to the Pacific Coast side, there plenty of working girls. Plenty. But I'll probably try to score nonworking for awhile, till I lose patience. I'll be there like 11 days or so and return with photos, Ojala.

Santa Ana?
Hows it goin guys. I am not a frequent poster on this forum...or many for that matter, but have found these to be enormously helpful in all my travels, and consult them constantly. I post only when I have what I think is helpful.
That said, I have some questions. I am planning a 4-6 week stay in a Latin American country to study spanish. I will, no doubt, end up back in Costa Rica, unless I come across some amazing info before i finalize plans. I was wondering if anyone has been to Santa Ana. I have thte choice to study in either Santa Ana or San Jose. I enjoy San Jose as a city, which probably sounds odd compared to other oppinions posted here about this city, but Santa Ana might be a better option. I do however, need to meet plenty of beautiful women, need bars, discos, and probably more ,onger specific locations, and I will try to rent an apartment for the alloted time. If anyone has any info about the availability of these in Santa Ana it would be greatly appreciated. I know the cities are close, but ten miles is not an ideal bus travel several times a day, and I will not have access to a car. Any other countries or institutes in ideal for spanish study would also help.
Thanks in advance, and I will show my appreciation in reports and photos of my time in the selected location.

I do not know anything about Santa Ana but do know that San Jose has what you are looking for. Taking a bus is a pain but is cheap.

This sounds like a no brainer to me. Any "action" if any in Santa Ana is going to pale in comparison to downtown. If you were one of those that couldn't stand the diesel fumes, traffic, crime, etc. of downtown than I'd say get yourself out of the city in the fresher air of the surrounding hillside towns and just head into the city when you felt like it. But since you don't seem to mind any of the downtown negatives that much, I'd say pick one of the many fine schools closer to your evening entertainment. I spent a month at CRLA (a couple of blocks on the downtown side of the San Pedro Mall) and would definitely recommend it to others. Forester in roughly the same area is another that is so supposed to be very good. Go to www.123teachme.com for reviews and comparisons of the various language school options.

Tamarindo Action
I spent a week in Tamarindo in August of 05 and absolutely loved it. I was traveling with a few buddies of mine and we rented a private villa close to the Barcelo for 280 per night. This was a 3 bedroom, 3 bath unit, with private pool, hot tub on the roof, and gated security (not that security is much of an issue in Tamarindo). There are a few spots in town for drinking/dancing, but each spot has its own night, and everyone will be there. I dont recall specific names, but there is only 4-5 spots, and only 1 of them is happening with action each night. Tico girls hang out all night, and you usually had 15-20 working girls to choose from, but on several occassions, we left with them and did the deed for free. Most are looking for 40-50 bucks, and this can range from an hour to all night. I'm looking at the Playa del Coco scene which is farther north, closer to Liberia, hopefully for a summer trip.
