Many are hurting for money many ask point blank and many don't. This time of the year Songkran, tough on many of these girls because they go home, school is out and next month tuition is due, many here think well government school is free! To us yes small money to them it is huge! Reason, just the books, the uniform can cause them to borrow money? Then Songkran, one can't go home empty handed. My wife is a prime example: she came from a large family she being on the tail end, only went to school 3 years what she learned came from her older brother and sisters who came home and taught her what they learn that day. Although her family is land rich up North in my book. My wife worked on the farm each day was like a Tom Boy, at 15 she set out doing odd jobs, cleaning, cooking, sewing clothes to sell in front of hotel to tourist which is how I met her in Sukhothai.

Their education, simple especially since parent culture within the poor don't look at education like we do and been taught. Out where I live Darkside, next door to my home and my wife restaurant, kids don't go to school because there isn't enough money or time to buy books, uniform or take them to school. This reason although wrong is why the government police allow kids to learn and ride bikes as young if not younger than 10 years old.

There is no education in business and if there is many still don't get it like my daughter in law has a Master in Accounting but when I talk to her at times about how to operate the restaurant and why certain cost is going up, a blank stare? As as many of you know I'm no rocket sciencetist. I use to sit buy drinks and just be. S. With the girls about their life, none of them ever ask me to borrow money but noted, short on rent, schools, one time I just said, I noticed a lot of ping pongs being thrown here how many do you get a night, she said 5-10, that is 20 baht each. When I walked to places today, I'm treated fairly, with respect, many door men, wai to me Sawasdee Krup papa, I travel alone no drama, those who know me I do my best to be personable waiter, waitress, treat me with respect, provide me the best seat if available and don't hazzle me to leave if I don't buy more than one drink.

Life is easy but make no mistake, I miss the USA My home San Francisco, but when gone I miss my family regardless of the bullshit in their culture, You learn to change, be patient, most of all to understand life is too short to worry about some of the bullshit that is around us.

But my point in my post at the time was not suggesting that Military personnel should necessarily disobey orders while in service, it was more about the poster (claiming to be a VET) not having a personal opinion of his own. He is no longer in the Military so therefore should be able to think for himself, give an honest opinion and also to have a moral compass.

Members can disagree with orders, provide feedback to their superiors about their disagreement but still execute said orders or as mentioned before can disagree with illegal orders and refuse to comply with them. I know you did not suggest members should or should not disobey orders while serving but that though was conveyed below by others.

Now there's less bars, more crowded beaches and less but more expensive talent. Is there another part of Thailand that is like the Pattaya of old or is it in another country now?
