You are correct. The Raintree Mall money exchange is near Midtown Hotel and has an armed guard who locks the door each time a customer enters or exits. In fact, next to it is an excellent laundry service to take your dirty clothes if you are in Cebu for longer than a few days. They charge by the kilogram. I went to Cebu at least 2x every year for 15 years, and found the Raintree Mall, and also the Robinson's Mall under the Midtown Hotel, near the grocery store, as the best 2 places to exchange US Dollars. No hassle. Went to SM mall and they wanted to see my passport, wanted the serial numbers of all the bills, etc. Geez. If you are new to exchanging money, please know that you don't have to put up with that crap. But do take clean, crisp $100 bills for the best rates. Iron them before you pack them. Most places will use a printer / calculator to show you both the rate for one dollar, and the amount of pesos they will give you for your total exchange. That way there is no misunderstanding.

i dropped off some laundry at 10:00am expecting them to be done by noon the next day. when i went at noon the next day, they said i need to come back at 3:00pm. that's well over 24 hours and not exactly "speedy" laundry.

then again, i should remember that i'm in the philippines.

i used to love this place because they would deliver the done laundry to the nearby hp hotel. but then one day my fav jag shorts went missing. when i mentioned it with some lovelys at the nearby bars, they just laughed and said,"it is being sold at carbon market this weekend."

in all fairness i'm not sure if the jags were lifted by the cleaning staff at hp hotel (before i went to the laundry) or the laundry. x.

The Midtown Hotel has since been renamed with possible ownership change. It is now called Summit Circle Cebu.

Many times they don't display the exchange rate because it changes several times a day. For sure, it an hopping place. Lots of Korean's and Arabs. Many girls for everyone. Freelancer, semi-pros, freebees. One older lady offered a 18 yrs old to me for p1500. I am only interested on freebees and I passed on. However, they gave me a very sexy dances right by my table. Great place to pick up ladies. Sunflower is a waste of time but they do have very good bands if you just like to enjoy the music.

Lots of freelancers are around. Especially by Figaro's and Bo's Cafe. Also lots of ladyboys and you just need to be careful. It is amazing to see how many Westerners and Arabs are interested on ladyboys. I am happy for them, more selection of ladies for me.

Went there last night and the number and quality of the girls was down. One of my friends was working so I paid the 500 for her and 150 for the go to guy. I still say it is tame and as it is well lit very safe, I was on a motor bike, I had to pull out my wallet and hand over a 1000 to get 500 change and then get the 150 out to pay the guy. My money and credit cards where in full view but no one even looked. I still stress do not go there unless you take a local expat. Maybe I feel safe as the people there know me.

Just not many girls there atm, the girl I know was the best pick.

He lives in Cebu and he is experienced in moving around the "bottom-feeders", (and I say this in a nice way and without intent to insult or flame Frenzy).

I will never return to the basketball court after a harrowing experience even when accompanied by a local expat (and I live in the Phils too).

It is way too risky for me.

I asked about this place to local girls and they told me that it was close to Colon Street. However, it is a kind of place most local Pinoys doesn't go there due to criminal activities. If you are just a tourist, you need to stay away from places like that unless you are looking for trouble. While you can find lots of girls in Mango Square, Ayala Mall or IT Park, why would you go to a place like that?
