Help with Russian. Guide for Moscow
Not sure why my previous message was treated as "private", while it was not private at all since it wasn't directed to the specific user (though was a reply to one) but to everyone on the thread. My point was, if anyone on the forum wants my assistance as Russian speaker, he can (respectfully to forum rules) pm me. Information of interest to all readers on this thread, I guess.
Hi,

I would be very interested in the help you suggest.

Moscow. Trip Report 9/15/16
Spoiler alert. Don't bother to read any further as there was no sessions to report. Only disappointments from a visit to Penthouse and Vanilia Massage (Arbat).
I had convinced myself that I was just going to hang out in my hotel room after long couple of days but decided, wrongly, that I should check out Penthouse as I was close by and then maybe walk over to Vanilia to get a nice massage. Well, I did make it to both but if I had to do over again, I would have stayed in and saved myself 3000 rub and a near mugging.
So, let's see as briefly as possible.
- Took a taxi from the Radisson Slavaskya to Penthouse as it was raining. Taxi driver ripped me off by charging 900 rub for a 5 min ride. Strike 1.
- Entered the Penthouse club and had to pay 2000 rub cover. Read the cover was 1000 rub and said so but the girl insisted 2000 rub. Perhaps my info is old. Anyways, about 12 guys and about 20 girls. Some definite hotties in there. I sat at the bar and asked to get a drink at which point the bar tender said "One second" and never came back. I had a nice looking blonde come up to me and did the usual, where are you from, etc. Then hit me with a "let's go to room and play". I asked what the cost was and she said 10000 rub for her and 5000 rub for the house for 1 hour. WOW! No thanks! At this point, I decided I didn't want to stick around. The vibe of the club was not good for me so I decided to leave. At the exit the security guys who patted me down asked "Tip for security". Uh. No! - Strike 2.
- Checked Google Maps and Vanilia was a short walk away and walked over there. Well, there were a line of 5 guys waiting and I decided to head back to the hotel. I was in a bummed out mood and decided to walk. It was now 2 am in the morning but New Arbat St is nicely lit. I was almost back to the hotel when two Russian guys were walking the opposite direction of me and one of them decided to grab my arm and said somethin in Russian and I pushed him away and quickly sprinted to the hotel. Luckily they didn't follow. Strike 3 and 4 . So I am out already per baseball parlance.
Bottom line, compared to my first trip to Moscow and Vanilia this was a huge disappointment. I think fun can still be had in Moscow. I chalk this up to an off night.
