However, when we talked, she told me her daughter ran the place when she was no longer up for the task.

Annie's was my first soapie, hell, my first MP. 30 years ago, first time in BKK, I still remember walking across the hotel (Raj?) parking lot, up these WIDE wooden stairs, making a U turn, and walking through Annie's doors. In front of me, a long bar stretching off to the right. At the end of the bar, across an aisle, the fishbowls. Behind the bar sat an underage girl in granny glasses (I thought hope her school mates didn't make too much fun of her). I'm thinking Thailand pretty permissive to let her into the place, but hopefully she can run off and find her mother, the mamasan. When she greeted me in great English, I realized my mistake (should have worn MY glasses). Over the ensuing years, I could ALWAYS recognize her in those glasses. Then, one year, no glasses. Asked her where they'd gone, assuming contacts; she smiled, said surgery.

Great person. Ran a great business, even a member here, monitoring the Annie's thread, addressing problems and complaints. The original (for me, in the Raj? Hotel off of soi 4) was a real institution. Those athlete sized tubs in the original (before expansion) were the best, room to stretch out and enjoy (though they did take some time to fill). Just another institution gone.

I've always avoided the reincarnated Annies, heard just not the same. But next visit, just might have to pay a visit and ask if Aey is around, just to pay my respects.

[B]Tom Jackin[/B]: Hadn't been to the Nana in decades (my first BKK hotel), but last year a convenient place to meet a buddy (everyone knows the location). With all due respect, all I could think of was "dinosaur boneyard" from the passing crowd as I waited in the lobby (OK, sure, no problem of me sitting there, I certainly blended in).

Later, there used to be a pool hall next to Annies so I went to Annies, never looked back. Great service.

Hey all, planning a trip to Bangkok in September and trying to get a feel for the scene. A few things I'm curious about:

What are the main options for meeting girls there?

I've seen Nana Plaza mentioned a lothow does it compare to other streets / areas?

Any tips on picking someone safely and avoiding scams?

How's law enforcement around these areasanything I should be careful about?

Would really appreciate any advice from people who've been there. Thanks!

When you arrive, check the rooms then bargain for better rooms, better deals ect.

Yes, unlike taking 3 minutes to post questions, it DOES take time to read the FR's. When you go to nana, check out the hotties at Wonderland.

Saw the sign and almost walked down the alley to check it out, but ended up content to take a pic of the sign on Sukhumvit and send it to friends as the world's dumbest name for a restaurant LOL. I would have loved the glasses, though.

She was superb, as was "Barbie" at Secret Kiss, which is a bit out of the way depending on where you are staying. Don't be shy; when the mamasan talks to you tell her what you want. The girls in the BJ bars know why they are there and are generally willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

The women in Snow White have a rep as being down for anything, and the girl I saw could take whatever I could give her in all three holes. Having said that, if BJs are your thing and you're not overly concerned with looks or decor, Wood Bar may be just what you're looking for.
