Hi,
Coming in on 8th June reach late ie flight lands at 6. 30 pm.
Next day have a flight to catch at 10.30 AM.
1. is it worth coming into BKK? For a few hours. Considering check out, taxi will take some time.
2. 2 supposedly good hotels like novotel are like 4-5 k bhatt. , its cheaper to stay in sukhumvit.
How long does the taxi take.
Also please suggest a good place close to soi cowboy or a friend suggested around soi 24 where many parlors are.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Absolutely, I found it is worth to sleep well with a lovely girl after a long flight. It may take about 2 to 3 hours to get to a hotel in sukhumvit. The taxi takes about an 45 minutes and last time I stayed in Radisson blu, right next to the cowboy.
Enjoy.
Jb.
S Sukhumvit Suites is right next to soi cowboy as well and is less than 100 usd a night.
I've stayed at both Radisson Blu and s sukhumvit suites, and they're both good for soi cowboy access. Radisson is nicer, s sukhumvit is a bit closer. Most girls will be fine to walk to either, but I had one gogo girl insist on a tuk tuk to the Radisson.
You'll be tight on time meaning you likely won't get much sleep if you're doing it right, but well worth the trip into and out of the city.

Thanks.
You did not make it too clear how much you wanted to spend on Hotel.
If was me, I would spend much less than 4 k on Hotel. I would stay at Mermaid Hotel (good price) about half way between Soi Cowboy and the Soi 24 to Soi 26 Massage joints. You should be in your Hotel by 8 PM to 8. 30 PM. Plenty of time to get a 'massage' LOL then check out some bars later. I would not bother to have a girl stay with me the whole night unless I know her well already.
Anyway, no way in the world would I stay near the airport and skip coming in to Bangkok for some evening fun.
I would stay at Mermaid Hotel (good price) .
Good choice. However, I looked it up just now and Mermaid and S Sukhumvit Suites are the same price (44 USD for Mermaid and 47 USD for S Sukhumvit). If it were my first time in Bangkok, I would stay at S Sukhumvit simply because it's closer to Soi Cowboy. Mermaid is also close, but 2 blocks away. S Sukhumvit is on the same block as Soi Cowboy. Radisson Blu Plaza is basically the same location as the Mermaid, but twice the price as the Mermaid. However, 88 usd a night is not a bad price for that Radisson since it's a nice hotel. All good choices. The only bad choice would be to stay at the airport.

The best way is the express train to Makasan only take 40 min 120 bht, if you can leave your luggage at the airport only carry enough for one night.
Fast Eddie 48.
Yup my thoughts exactly thanks for helping in making a decision of not staying near the airport. I doubt I will ever have the balls to get a girl back to the hotel, money as I have saved up for the trip and (thanks smoothy) Radisson Blu Plaza sounds great at 88 $s.
Have read so much about BKK am so damn excited.
After my work on my way back I get to stay in BKK for 3 nights. Please suggest a good area. Would a person stay only around soi cowboy or the MPs or are there places where one can have great buffets / explore / etc.
Friends told me only sukhumvit and don't stay anywhere else.
Thanks.

Also any idea a good place in BKK to look for car parts etc for the new toyota fortuner like shockers, spare parts, accessories.
Cheers.
Hello everybody,
Does anybody know if the Marriott Marquis on Soi 22 is a girl friendly hotel?
Many thanks. I will report.
The short answer is yes. Didn't have a problem.
Hi fellas,
I am visiting alone to Bangkok for the 1st time. Will be there from June 23 to June 25. I want to stay at one area only (don't want to travel at all) and enjoy as much as I can.
Can someone please suggest if I should stay at Sukhumvit area or at Pattaya.
Also wanted to understand if this is a good season to be at Bangkok.

I offer two suggestions. First, find a way to stay longer then 3 nights. Married? Make up some story for your wife about your work commitments. Take some vacation. You will regret leaving after only 3 nights. Second, stay in an affordable hotel somewhere between Nana and Soi Cowboy. There is action scattered along that whole stretch. I stayed on Soi 11 at Ambassador for about $50 per night (tower wing), it was good enough for me. Later I learned that there are nicer places available at the same price or a bit more.
Enjoy your trip!

I can give him two bits of advice.
1) Pattaya is NOT in Bangkok.
2) There is NEVER a bad season to be in Thailand.
For further information please RTFF. There is SO MUCH information there, if you can be bothered to look for it!
Hello everybody,
Does anybody know if the Marriott Marquis on Soi 22 is a girl friendly hotel?
Many thanks. I will report.
How long has the Imperial Queens Park Hotel been called Marriott Marquis now? Back in the late 90's and early 2000's I always stayed at the Imperial Queens Park. Some of the best shags of my life happened in that hotel. Damn old hotel though, I would be curious to see how Marriott renovated it since they took over. It was absolutely girl friendly every time I stayed there. I believe all Marriott hotels are girl friendly.
The only hotel I ever stayed at that was not girl friendly was Amari on soi 5 and I will never stay there again. They charged me 800 baht as a "joiner" fee back in 2003. I told them back then that if they charged me that 800 baht, I would never stay there again. I had already paid over regular rate for the room and the fact that the travel agent had booked it for one person should not have mattered as booking for 2 people up front did not cost any more. And the girl I was taking to my room was only for one hour, not for the night. However, they made the managerial decision to charge the 800 baht "joiner fee" that night and I never have stayed there again and never will. I have stayed well over a thousand nights in hotel rooms in Bangkok since then and would have likely stayed in that hotel more than 100 more times had they not charged me the 800. I also bad mouth their hotel every chance I get. Very poor management decision. Screw them. I also never used that travel agent again.
